Rob Stewart in this episode shows off another of his talents. He can sing! In this episode, Nick is working in a lounge of some type alongside Sylvie, who is impersonating an independent, tough, sarcastic cocktail waitress. Nick sings the old Rodgers and Hart standard song "The Lady is a Tramp."
This is the second time this series has alluded to the 1939 MGM movie The Wizard of Oz. The first time it was Nick in "Family Affair." This time it is Sylvie who alludes to the film. She says to a prisoner in tow "I don't know, Toto. Looks like Kansas to me."
Nick shows off his knowledge of Shakespeare when he alludes to a famous line in Romeo and Juliet when he says, "A rose by any other name should smell as sweet."
The viewer learns more about Nick's past before he moved to Key Mariah. Nick used to work for the D.E.A., a government agency with a partner named Chaffey. His boss Garrity was the one who had Nick fired, allowing Nick to head off to his new career as a private investigator.
