I enjoyed this effort. It concerns a situation where the environmentalists and liberals have put a stop to hunting. It seems that most of the endangered species have been decimated anyway. A foursome of hunters is in pursuit of a different kind of prey. They are androids that have outlived their usefulness. They are sent out, literally with targets on their backs. The hunters slaughter them. There isn't any skin in the game because the androids have been programmed not to attack humans. One android who has a gimpy leg is killed immediately. The others flee. Meanwhile, there is trouble in paradise. There is great conflict among those in the hunting party. The young man finds the whole thing deplorable while his hunter father and his father's brother encourage him to become a man. When given the opportunity to kill, he shoots over the head of the defenseless female android. There is also a third man who is acting as a guide. As the prey hole up in a cabin for the night, they discover a set of rolled up schematics of their own architecture. It was deliberately left there by the father of the hunting group. He wants a real hunt. The androids are skilled enough to change the circuit that makes them defenseless. One of the androids is interesting. He reads "Paradise Lost" and devoured other great works of literature in the past. He is an obstacle for a time because he is a pacifist and feels despite their foibles, humans are basically admirable creatures. This is a more complex episode than some and has some tragic events interwoven. There are significant issues dealing with sentience and they are well delivered.
