In his 2010 book "Inside Fame on Television - A behind-the-Scenes History", Michael A. Hoey recounts that MGM accused writer Michael McGreevey of ripping off their movie The Outrage (1964) while McGreery maintained he based his script on Akira Kurosawa's Rashomon (1950), which also inspired The Outrage. It turned out that executive producer Donald Reiker had heavily rewritten the script and had indeed copied several elements from The Outrage. As a result, McGreevey was forced to take a "teleplay by" credit instead of a "written by", and both Kurasowa and the writers who worked on the Outrage had to be listed in the end credits.
