I threw her out of my house..Could I do anything else?
****SPOILERS**** Working undercover in the sleazy Times Square district in Manhattan police woman Casey Jones, Beverly Garland, pretending to be a junkie gets very friendly with heroin addict Marie Dumbrowsky in trying to uncover her pusher and put him or her behind bars. Before she knows it Marie is found stabbed to death in her Times Square hotel room. What's even more puzzling is that a bank book of hers is found there also with a balance of $6,000.00! It's obvious that Marie was not only using drugs but selling them to pay for her, in 1959, $40.00 a day habit. What Officer Jones now whats to find out is who's been supplying Marie with the junk.
Posing as the late Marie's good friend Officer Jones looks up her mom Moma Dombrowsky, Lilia Skala, in the Polish section of Brooklyn, Greenpoint, who runs a Polish/American restaurant. Not only does Moma have no feelings about her late daughter Marie but almost welcomes the news of her death. It's Marie's brother Danny played by Richard Davalos, the guy who played James Dean's crazy big brother in "East of Eaden",who seems to know a lot more about his sister Maries drug taking and dealing who later tries to shut up Officer Jones up about what happened to her.
***SPOILERS*** It turns that family friend and local drug dealer Rico, Norman Rose, was the one behind Marie's murder. Being blackmailed by her he finally knocked her off to shut her up from reporting her to the police. It's when Marie's big brother Danny found this out, from Officer Jones, that he turned on Rico that ended up with Rico dead, he was pushed off from the roof of a forth floor building, with the befuddled Danny facing a second degree murder charge. As for the tragic Moma Dumbrowsky she washed her hands from all this by going back to work in her Polish/American restaurant and trying to forget that this whole thing involving Marie and Danny happened!
