- TriviaAt one point, Archie questions Gloria as to how she and Michael with their concern for ecology could have no objections to Edith owning a mink cape. They reply that minks are bred for that purpose and are not an endangered species. It's a very different attitude than progressive minded people would likely have today. Today they would most likely object, if only because of cruelty to animals.
- Quotes
Archie Bunker: I'm surprised at you two "ecrology" nuts encouraging your mother to wear fur.
Gloria Bunker-Stivic: Well, they breed those animals, Daddy.
Michael 'Meathead' Stivic: That's right, Arch. Mink is not an endangered species.
Archie Bunker: Oh, gee. Them minks hanging around your mother-in-law's neck out there will be happy to hear that, that they ain't endangered, just murdered.

Edith in a mink cape
Edith's cousin Amelia gives her a gift of a mink cape but Archie considers it charity and tells her they will not accept it.
Archie also cannot stand Amelia's(Rae Allen) husband Russ (Richard Dysart),a plumbing contractor who constantly brags about how much money he makes. After the mink is stained with spaghetti sauce it is ruined by Jefferson's dry cleaning. They offer an insurance payment of $300, now Archie wants to keep the money but Russ wants it too. Funniest scene is the argument between Archie and Russ, Archie calling him Rich Daddy Drainpipes.
