Right in time for the character's 50th anniversary, the Wolverine legend will begin anew this September. The series comes our way from acclaimed writer Saladin Ahmed (Daredevil) and Marvel Stormbreaker artist Martín Cóccolo (Immortal Thor). Fortnite’s fanbase is pretty open-minded; they accept the small changes that the developers bring to these games with every new update. Sometimes they would get new weapons, and other times they would get new equipment. New powerups, new ways to get around the game—things never stop changing in this game, and it’s not a bad thing either; these changes keep it fresh.
But sometimes there are some things that might sound trivial during the initial stages, but fans start hating them. There can be a bunch of reasons for it. Maybe one weapon is too overpowered, maybe fans do not love a powerup that gives players a brief moment of invincibility, or sometimes there are skins that allow players to blend into the environment. Similar to these examples, there are a bunch of things that fans want changed in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2.

Exclusive: Anthony Horowitz believes his upcoming Magpie Murders adaptation is “the first time I’ve really got it right,” and has stated he will no longer write on classic TV murder mysteries.
The renowned UK author has adapted many of his novels for TV including Stormbreaker, The Diamond Brothers and South By South East, but Horowitz thinks PBS Masterpiece/BritBox’s Magpie Murders from Jill Green’s Eleventh Hour Films is a greater achievement.
The six-parter took two years to pen and involved around half a dozen drafts, Horowitz told Deadline, and while the mystery-within-a-mystery format threw up a multitude of challenges, the author said this is “the first time I’ve really got it right.”
“The whole book-within-a-book thing is really difficult,” he explained. “In the book the mysteries happen one at a time whereas in the show I wanted to do them simultaneously and that gave me the...

Aside from giving us two of the best back-to-back sequels in blockbuster history, "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame" stand out among superhero fare because they actually let our heroes fail, and they have to sit with the consequences for five years. Thanos is successfully able to collect all the Infinity Stones and use them to wipe out half of the population of the universe. Even though it's Thor (Chris Hemsworth) who blames himself the most for not stopping the Mad Titan, opting for a body shot with his newly forged axe called Stormbreaker instead of cutting Grimace's head clean off, "The Marvels" director Nia...

Alex Rider is finally premiering in the U.S.
The hit adaptation of the Anthony Horowitz novel series launches on IMDb TV on Friday, November 13.
We got to speak with Horowitz and cast members Otto Farrant, Brenock O'Connor, and Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo about the series.
This is not Alex Rider's first foray in front of the screen, with the original novel, Stormbreaker, being adapted into a movie starring Alex Pettyfer.
But the series is not picking up from the original novel. Instead, Point Blanc is the jumping-off point for the series.
"It was a decision made by the producers and myself from the very start because Stormbreaker would have already been covered," said Horowitz.
"It was sensible to keep moving forward. We did, however, add some of the original material from Stormbreaker back the series. We had to explain how Alex became a spy."

The destruction of Mjolnir in Thor: Ragnarok was a pivotal moment for Thor’s character arc. He unlocked his true potential and understood what it really means to be the God of Thunder. But for a brief moment, when his evil sister Hela (played by Cate Blanchett) destroyed the powerful relic, it seemed like the Norse superhero had been robbed of his will to fight. And just like that, Mjolnir became more than a hammer; it became a symbol that was inextricably linked to Thor and the McU. So, we’d be surprised if it didn’t zoom back into the story of Love and Thunder.
Of course, Thor does eventually manage to forge a replacement in Avengers: Infinity War, with the help of Groot and Rocket. The trio travel to Nidavellir, the home planet of the Dwarves, where Eitri builds Stormbreaker for him. Thor critically wounds Thanos with it,...

Thor has wielded quite a few hammers over the past few years. For most of the McU’s history, he had his trusty companion Mjolnir, which ended up being destroyed by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. In order to cope with his loss, the God of Thunder then forged a new hammer, Stormbreaker, in Avengers: Infinity War, before snagging an alternate version of his original weapon in Avengers: Endgame.
The hammers, it should come as no surprise, are set to play an important role in the character’s fourth feature film, too, Thor: Love and Thunder. Although little is yet known about the project, we do know that Jane Foster – Thor’s love interest from the McU’s earlier Phases – will return to wield Mjolnir. Which version of the hammer she’ll be wielding, however, is up for debate. That being said, a new theory may shed a little light on things.

Alex Rider Season 2 is officially in the works at Sony Pictures Television.
Developed by screenwriter Guy Burt, and based on the bestselling book series by Anthony Horowitz (creator of U.K. WWII-era detective series Foyle’s War), Sony’s Alex Rider follows the titular teen (Otto Farrant), who discovers a family legacy in the spy game after his late uncle/adoptive father seemingly dies under mysterious circumstances. Subsequently recruited by MI6 subdivision the Department of Special Operations, Alex undergoes a transformative training process for a job that uproots his adolescent life.
The second season renewal of Alex Rider arrives, via Deadline, shortly after the TV series made its June 4 debut, specifically in the franchise’s homefront, on Amazon U.K. However, while it has yet to arrive in most countries, including the U.S., Sony is reportedly close to landing a deal for platforms in the U.S., Australia and China.

Is Thanos’ resurrection inevitable? In a world of gods and superhumans, it sure isn’t inconceivable, especially given his undeniable popularity among fans. And now, we’ve heard some interesting intel about the Mad Titan’s return to the McU.
Earlier this week, we learned that Marvel plans introduce more members of the Titan family, including Thanos’ brother Starfox. But they won’t stop there, as his son Thane will soon debut, too. At least, that’s according to sources close to Wgtc, the same ones who told us Taskmaster would be the main villain of Black Widow and Ahsoka Tano will be in The Mandalorian season 2, both of which were correct.
While there’s been no mention of Thane in the McU yet, he came to be in the comic books after an unnamed Inhuman woman had a run in with Thanos’ army and got pregnant (it’s all...

If you haven’t read the first two Alex Rider books, Stormbreaker and Point Blanc, since their release near the turn of the millennium, you might now be watching the Alex Rider TV show on Amazon Prime Video and wondering why some of it feels familiar – but some of it feels fresh and new.
That’d be because the team behind the Alex Rider TV show have remixed the books a fair bit, as well as adding in all-new elements in a bid to make the concept work better as a TV show. While the Stormbreaker movie was mostly quite faithful to the books, the Alex Rider TV show makes some bigger changes.

Marvel Studios are hard at work on bringing Wolverine into the McU, but it’s going to be a while before we hear that familiar *snikt* in a film. That doesn’t mean we’re short of claw-related badassery to enjoy though, as YouTuber James Hobson (aka The Hacksmith) has just proved. Now known for his recreations of various pieces of movie hardware, including Batman’s grappling gun, Thor’s Stormbreaker, Star Wars’ lightsabers and Iron Man’s Gauntlet, he got his start recreating Wolverine’s claws from the X-Men movies.
His first set of claws were built in 2009 as part of an internship but since then, his construction skills have vastly improved. So, to mark more than a decade of doing this, why not go back to Wolverine and try again? But there’s a twist, as this time he’s doing the ‘bone claws.’

There’s a sense that history is repeating itself right now, with our entertainment overlords once again deciding that a live-action adaptation of Anthony Horowitz’s Alex Rider novels is exactly what we need. But long before the upcoming Amazon Prime series was a twinkle in anybody’s eye, a feature-length film starring some high-profile British actors arrived in cinemas in 2006.
That film was Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker. A fairly faithful adaptation of the first book in Horowitz’s series, with a few added action scenes and beefed out roles for the supporting players, the Stormbreaker movie was an inoffensive way to spend a brisk 93 minutes.
The companies that invested in the film – which included The Weinstein Company in the Us, and Mpc, Samuelson Productions and Isle Of Man Film in the UK – presumably went into the production of the movie hoping to spark an on-going film franchise. After all,...

The Alex Rider TV series arrives on Amazon Prime Video this week, providing a grittier, more grown-up vision of Alex’s adventures than in the books. A teenaged super spy that spawned a series of novels in Anthony Horowitz’s young-readers franchise, Alex has already had one attempt at the live-action arena: a movie version failed to take the world by storm back in the noughties.
There’s something about these books, though, and it wasn’t just fans that wanted to see Alex get another bite of the adaptation cherry. Clearly, executives in the entertainment world had been thinking along similar lines. Harry Potter may have succeeded in spawning a Hollywood franchise on its first attempt, but Alex Rider didn’t, and we’re grateful to see the character getting another shot at breaking into the real-world with this live-action series.

For UK kids born after 1990, and parents and teachers of the same, Anthony Horowitz’s bestselling Alex Rider books need no introduction. School libraries keep multiple spine-cracked, Sellotape-repaired copies. ‘Stormbreaker’ posters decorate classroom walls, and in schools around the country, tie-in ‘Scorpia’ key stage worksheets are photocopied by the hundredweight. Booksellers asked by customers how to entice a young, reluctant, usually male reader into fiction don’t even wait for the question to end before plucking an Alex Rider off their shelves. When Harry Potter has done all he can, reach for Alex.
For everybody else, the Rider books tell the phenomenally popular story of a 14-year-old London schoolboy recruited by MI6 as a spy. Armed with comically age-appropriate gadgets including metal-dissolving acne cream, a grappling hook disguised as a yo-yo, and a Sony Discman that turns into a circular saw,...

Amazon Prime Video has taken U.K. rights to coming-of-age spy thriller “Alex Rider,” which will launch on the platform in June.
Produced by Eleventh Hour Films and Sony Pictures Television, the show is based on the second novel in Anthony Horowitz’s “Alex Rider” novels, “Point Blanc.” All eight episodes of the series will launch on Amazon on June 4.
The show was produced under a unique funding model that saw distributor Sony come on board in 2018 to fully finance the project without a lead commissioning broadcaster or platform attached.
The series stars Otto Farrant as Alex Rider, a London-based teenager who has unknowingly been trained since childhood to be a spy. Pressured to help investigate his uncle’s death, and how it connects to the assassination of two high-profile billionaires, Alex goes undercover in a remote boarding school called Point Blanc.

Streaming services are very much keeping us occupied at the moment, and there are plenty of them around offering all sorts of different options for your beleaguered eyes during this pandemic.
Amazon Prime Video UK is slightly different, because it can be available as part of the Prime subscription package. Netflix isn’t yet willing to send us cat food and a twelve-year-old copy of Dune on DVD. Disney+ doesn’t try and flog us a tablet. Now TV hasn’t flung a gift card with frightening speed at the face of someone’s birthday you forgot …yet. Prime just hits different.
Also, Prime gets much weirder the longer you spend scrolling through its wares. If you haven’t fallen down a rabbit hole of old VHS rips and weird public service films on the eighth layer of Prime’s interface, you haven’t yet experienced the full glory of...

For a character that only ever speaks three words, Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Groot is overwhelmingly popular among fans. But if you’ve ever found yourself wondering how some can interpret his minimalistic language, director James Gunn holds the perfect answer.
The tree humanoid alien has come a long way in the McU since first appearing in Gunn’s original GotG film. After having him sacrifice his life to save the new team, the director introduced us to the much cuter and probably more dangerous version, Baby Groot. And to say that the character stole the spotlight in the sequel would be an understatement.
Groot turned into an adolescent boy, if you could call him that, by Avengers: Infinity War. And in that movie, he once again proved his worth as a superhero by helping Thor forge Stormbreaker. Then, in the Battle of Earth, Groot helped the assembled might...

James Gunn may not be the first director to cross the fan-drawn battle-lines between Marvel and DC comic properties – Avengers and Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon recently crossed over to complete Zack Snyder’s ambitious DC team-up Justice League – but he may turn out to be the most successful, as Whedon’s additions to the aforementioned pic were criticized for contradicting Snyder’s tone and vision.
After directing two installments in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Gunn was ostensibly fired by Marvel Studios in response to controversial decade-old Tweets that were excavated by what Sp¡ked called “right-wing snowflakes.” The director was subsequently hired by DC Films to create a standalone sequel to David Ayer’s 2016 villain team-up Suicide Squad, to be titled The Suicide Squad, but Gunn’s gracious, humble handling of the situation led to him eventually being rehired by Marvel to complete the eventual third installment of his Guardians trilogy.

The first few phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe had paved the way for the official entrance of Thanos into the story. With a thirst for power, mingled with the belief that he had to set the universe straight, he didn’t care who had to die so that he could achieve his goal.
In fact, in the first few minutes of Avengers: Infinity War, we see his cronies slaughter the remnants of Asgard. And Thanos himself defeats the Hulk with nothing but his own brute strength. His attitude and sheer power would no doubt strike fear into any foe.
Apart from his physical attributes though, the Mad Titan’s militaristic mindset is fascinated with a variety of weaponry. From flashbacks, we understand that a key object representing the relationship between Gamora and Thanos is the double-bladed dagger he gifted to her as a child.

Kevin Spacey is Nixon and Michael Shannon is Elvis in this slightly disjointed but often very fun drama...
If you were to draw up a list of likely actors to play Elvis, I’d wager that Michael Shannon wouldn’t come particularly high up in the rankings. His acting chops are well proven, but he comes with an enigmatic energy which is so quintessentially Shannon that it would be hard for the viewer to shake that and truly believe they’re watching The King.
This was my worry going into Elvis & Nixon, and this is still how I feel after Elvis & Nixon. But that isn’t to say that there weren’t moments of fun in between. True, I never suspended my disbelief long enough to forget that I was watching General Zod as Elvis - with all the wiry Shannon eccentricities and not much of the “uh,...

Bourne and Mission: Impossible, right back to Harry Palmer and Danger Diabolik - meet the many pretenders to James Bond's throne...
Since 1962, the James Bond franchise has come to define the spy genre, for good or ill. More broadly, every thriller and action film that comes out now either uses them as inspiration, or attempts to ignore or re-work the tropes that have come to be associated with the series.
Coming off the release of Kingsman: The Secret Service, and with the release of a new Bond film this year, now seems like the perfect time to take a look at a sample of the films which have been inspired by James Bond — either as homages, parodies or reactions.
The Ipcress File (1965)

Hollywood went hunting for lots of British comedy talent in the 1990s - and lured the likes of Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson...
For some reason, Hollywood fell in love with British actors again in the 1990s. Sparked by Alan Rickman's turn as Hans Gruber in Die Hard at the back end of the 1980s, many movie villains were either Brits, or in the case of Cliffhanger, John Lithgow taking on the mannerisms of a British antagonist.
Yet in particular, Hollywood went recruiting British comedy talent, with faces then mainly - but not exclusively - known for their small screen work getting roles of various sizes in Hollywood productions. Here are some who racked up the air miles - starting with the man who arguably became one of the most successful...

For every Harry Potter or Hunger Games series, there are those franchises that didn't quite set the world on fire...
Since Insurgent came out, I’ve been thinking about those less fortunate: the franchise wannabes. While Divergent may have succeeded financially, (a film that rode on the coat-tails of the even more lucrative The Hunger Games franchise) there are others who didn’t quite make it into the movie world’s big leagues. These are the franchise-starters that flopped, the films produced with the optimistic hope that they will bring in the readies and kick-start Hollywood’s latest franchise. Worse luck for them, really.
For the sake of simplicity, this list will zero in on Ya franchise-starters, films adapted from a young adult novel or with that audience in mind. There are plenty of more mature films that struggled such as Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time, The A-Team...

A 1970s set drama about a young black woman suffering from personality disorder? If that doesn't tick a few obvious Oscar boxes, we don't know what does, and Halle Berry certainly thought she'd have another shot at an award. Way back in 2010, "Frankie & Alice" was being positioned as a contender, but it barely made ripple and wound up sitting on a shelf for four years awaiting the light of day. Well, that day arrives this weekend and eight clips have dropped to compel you to give in to your curiosity. This story centers on a young woman with a personality disorder who struggles to contain her racist alter-ego, with Stellan Skarsgård, Chandra Wilson and Phylicia Rashad supporting and Geoffrey Sax ("White Noise," "Alex Rider: Stormbreaker") behind the camera. That does sound good on paper but good movies don't generally sit on a shelf for four years only to quietly hit...

Once upon a time, way, way back in 2010, Halle Berry was gunning for her second Oscar nomination (after winning for "Monster's Ball") with "Frankie & Alice." At the time, it was an indie film without a major studio behind it, but that didn't deter the actress, who was hoping her turn as a mentally ill woman would garner some attention. It didn't. Now here we are four years later, with the movie quietly headed to theaters. Co-starring Stellan Skarsgård, Chandra Wilson and Phylicia Rashad, and directed by Geoffrey Sax ("White Noise," "Alex Rider: Stormbreaker"), the 1970s-set drama centers on a young woman with a personality disorder (Berry) who struggles to contain her racist alter-ego. And the first trailer reveals that there is nothing particularly subtle about this one, with Berry mostly flailing her arms and running around as her hidden personality rises to the surface when dramatically necessary. Sometimes, things sit on a shelf for a.

"Homeland" star Damian Lewis just landed an exciting film role. He's joined Werner Herzog's new drama "Queen of the Desert," which is a biopic about the life of Gertrude Bell.
Already lined up for the role of Bell is Nicole Kidman. Lewis will play her love interest, Lt. Col. Charles Doughty-Wylie, Deadline reports. In real life, Doughty-Wylie was a married but unhappy British war hero who engaged in an affair with Bell for two years which was committed through love letters until his death.
Production on "Queen of the Desert" is slated to begin in December. Though Lewis is best known for his role in "Homeland," the Brit has had his fair share of film roles. Most recently he starred in "Romeo and Juliet" is Lord Capulet, but he also was in the comedy "Your Highness," the teen action flick "Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker" and the Jennifer Lopez movie "An Unfinished Life.

Twelve years ago, HBO put to screen a miniseries that was one part Television event, one part historical drama, which had the considerable backing of executive producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and the hype of being something of a spiritual successor to their highly acclaimed war film Saving Private Ryan. Through ten one hour long episodes, essentially using TV as a medium to explore a vast and epic journey through the Second World War that would simply be impossible to map on the big screen, and with Stephen E Ambrose’s critically acclaimed non-fiction book as source material and a huge cast representing a collective of real world heroes, one of the most ambitious storytelling exercises the small screen has ever mounted was brought to life. The result was much fanfare, both critically and among the masses, a recurring trope that continues to this day, and the fledgling start...

Easily the best film ever made about male strippers, Magic Mike is yet another feather in the cap of not only director Steven Soderbergh – who again proves himself adept at yet another genre – but star Channing Tatum, whose miraculous career turnaround this year is truly something to marvel at.
Finally appearing to realise the promise of his standout work in 2006’s A Guide to Recognising Your Saints, Tatum emerges as a source of both uproarious comedy and gravitas here, playing the titular Mike, a stripper who takes young drifter Adam (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing. Working with manager Dallas (Matthew McConaughey), the strip troupe teaches Adam everything they know, while Mike yearns to kick-start his life’s passion – a one-of-a-kind furnishings company – and quit the business altogether.

There will be those who dismiss Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike outright for shamelessly pandering to straight women by delivering a film filled with hunky men getting naked. There’s more to the film than that, of course, but it is the primary draw, and some will see it as a needless exercise in sexual objectification.
As counterpoint, I submit the phrase “male gaze,” feminist Laura Mulvey’s infamous theory about how media is framed from the eyes of heterosexual men. It is an omnipresent trait of Hollywood films and American TV that women must be beautiful, scantily clad, and visually objectified to extremely heightened degrees while men dress and move, for the most part, like normal men. Take any summer blockbuster released this year, and you will see my point. Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, for instance, was the only member of The Avengers whose costume was entirely designed...

Deadline is reporting that actor Alex Pettyfer, who can next be seen in Magic Mike, will be joining Lee Daniels‘ upcoming film The Butler. He’ll be taking on the role of Thomas Westphall and he’ll join an already stellar cast that includes Forest Whitaker, David Oyelowo, Alan Rickman, Jane Fonda, Oprah Winfrey, Minka Kelly, Cuba Gooding Jr, Terrance Howard, and Lenny Kravitz.
Not much is known about Pettyfer’s character aside from the fact that he’ll “appear early in the life of Forest Whitaker’s character and has a pivotal influence on the rest of that character’s life.” It’s pretty vague but it definitely sounds like the character will be of some importance.

Of course, we have to bear in mind that Marvel Studios do not own the film rights to characters as key to their comic book universe as Daredevil, Spider-Man, Wolverine or the Fantastic Four – all of whom have allied with or become members of the Avengers at one time or another – but with that consideration in place, here is another suggestion for Marvel’s Next Avengers Film:

It's no secret that Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg are looking to make a sequel to their 3-D, performance-capture animated The Adventures of Tintin, even before it opened last December and went on to gross $371 million in worldwide box office.
Last April, Anthony Horowitz (Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker) admitted that he was hired to write the sequel, which he said would be titled The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun and would have Jackson taking the director's chair from Spielberg. By October, Jackson confirmed that a Tintin sequel would be his next project after finishing work on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, the two-part prequel to his The Lord of the Rings trilogy. In a recent interview with Total Film, Spielberg revealed that Jackson would launch immediately from The Hobbit to the Tintin sequel.

Variety reports that Geoffrey Sax (Frankie and Alice, White Noise) has signed on to direct Unmasked, a psychological thriller written by newcomer Peter Scott Vicaire. The movie follows a man who joins an underground club for the sole purpose of reliving the worst day of his life. Vicaire’s script has obvious Fight Club influences but according to the article it also has shades of Stanley Kubrick‘s Eyes Wide Shut so it’s completely understandable why the director of Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker was courted for the job (that’s sarcasm folks!).
All (painfully unfunny) joking aside, Unmasked definitely sounds interesting and I’m intrigued about the details of this supposed “worst day ever” that the main character is dying to relive. And as a White Noise apologist, I’m not totally against having Sax in the director’s chair; he’s handled psychological themes before and he’s capable.

A while back it was revealed that frequent British TV scribe Anthony Horowitz ("Poirot," "Alex Rider: Stormbreaker") had been hired to pen the first draft for the sequel to Steven Spielberg's "The Adventures of Tintin" which opened last week to big box-office in Europe.
At the time he was hired to adapt Herge's two-parter "The Seven Crystal Balls" and "Prisoners of the Sun" into the film which Peter Jackson would direct. In August this year though Jackson himself said despite Horowitz's script supposedly being ready he hadn't yet made the decision about which of Herge's other two dozen stories he would adapt.
Now, Horowitz himself says that while 'Prisoners' is still on the cards he doubts it'll be the next film - "That was true a few months ago, but I can tell you that I think the second film is not going to be Prisoners of the Sun.

Almost from the start, Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg have talked about The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn as being the first part of a planned trilogy of movies based on Belgian author and illustrator Hergé's classic Tintin comic book series. Which is why it really wasn't that surprising when, in April, with The Secret of the Unicorn still eight months away from being released in theaters, it was revealed that Anthony Horowitz (Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker) had been hired to write the sequel, The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun. It wasn't clear at the time who would direct the second movie, but it has now been revealed that Jackson plans to take the helm after he has finished working on the two-part prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit.

He's turned 40, moved his family to Los Angeles and spends his time tinkering with motorbikes. Midlife crisis? No fear
In the corner of his regular haunt, a bustling restaurant in the posh suburb of Brentwood, Los Angeles, Ewan McGregor takes a break from his shrimp salad to consider the apocalypse.
"I'm not remotely worried," he says. "For all of the hurtling towards climate change, there's also a lot more understanding of it than there was when we were kids. They don't call environmentalists tree huggers any more, so there's hope!"
Doomsday would be an odd fixation for McGregor. After all, life is rather good. He has five movies coming down the pipe, and promising ones, too. There's Bryan Singer's sword-swinging fantasy Jack the Giant Killer and The Impossible, in which he and Naomi Watts face the 2004 tsunami. He also plays a stuffy scientist who falls for Emily Blunt in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen,...
