The world of comic books is complex and adapting the stories into one cohesive cinematic universe is not easy. Yet the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in comparison to other such universes, has managed to do extremely well when it comes to adapting several characters, storylines, and plots. The MCU can do everything from bringing the Avengers to live-action to making the unknown Guardians of the Galaxy some of the best-loved characters of all time.

Stellar Blade was a triumph for both Sony and Shift Up. The South Korean game developers were able to successfully deliver a new video game in an industry that is oversaturated with online multiplayer games and managed to inspire others.
The vast majority of the players are most likely male, given the incredible and daring character design of the main female protagonist, Eve, but there are still female gamers who have also dipped their toes in this genre of gaming, and a different character makes it better for them.

Stellar Blade and its main character, Eve, have received a steady stream of praise from the game’s newfound fans since its release a week ago. Despite the controversy surrounding censorship and post-launch content edits, the game continues to appeal to people with all it offers.
Part of Stellar Blade’s appeal comes from the lines of outfits that you can grab for Eve. Many of the game’s fans are already looking forward to the crossover outfits that ShiftUp is going to bring to the game. However, it seems that Stellar Blade already includes one such highly anticipated outfit, referencing the cult-classic anime Kill La Kill.
Stellar Blade’s One Outfit May Be a Reference to Kill La Kill Stellar Blade is a game ripe for collaborations and crossovers.
Since the game’s highly successful launch, many people have taken to social media to speculate on the game’s future crossovers.

‘Furiosa’ Composer Tom Holkenberg aka JunkieXL Teases Score with First Single, ‘Dementus Is Gaining’
We can already feel our theater seats shaking. This past Friday, “Furiosa” composer Tom Holkenberg (aka Junkie Xl) dropped a taste of his upcoming score for the film with the single, “Dementus Is Gaining”. The propulsive electronica track features a familiar trance-like beat that incorporates the sound of revving engines, but also has a noticeably more haunting quality than that of the score for “Mad Max: Fury Road”, implying a prequel that may have more of an emotional bite than its predecessor.
“My collaboration with the incredible George Miller began over a decade ago with our work on ‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ a project that marked a pivotal moment in my career as a film composer,” says Holkenberg. “Returning to this world to score the odyssey of ‘Furiosa,’ an epic tale of survival, resilience and revenge has been just as eye-opening and gratifying. ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ is a...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is not what it used to be. Although the statements might be hurtful, there have never been so many delays in a Marvel film before as Mahershala Ali’s upcoming MCU film Blade.
It’s not just about the infinite delays though, it feels as if the MCU has dropped its standards after the events of Avengers: Endgame. With people getting hurt by these Marvel updates, fans are not liking the news of Mahershala Ali’s delayed film!

Marvel And Mahershala Ali’s Blade Gets Delayed… Again
Although it could be taken in a good sense that the MCU doesn’t want to release an unfinished product, the fans are also tired now. With the world having learned not to rush things for a release (*cough* Cyberpunk 2077), the MCU probably wants their films to be actually entertaining for the audience.

Stellar Blade is the latest PlayStation 5 exclusive and it was a passion project from South Korean game developers at Shift Up. Director Hyung-Tae Kim had a clear vision for the company’s first major console game and wanted an epic title to accompany it.
The original title was quite simpler but what the director came up with has a deep mythology behind it. An ambitious video game deserves an equally ambitious title and it also sounds a lot better compared to Project Eve.

Stellar Blade is looking to be a huge success for the South Korean game developer and Sony Interactive Entertainment. The ambitious atmosphere and design of the title were partly influenced by director Hyung-Tae Kim’s passion for James Cameron and his creative vision.

Since 2007, the "Transformers" movies have been A) Primarily set on Earth (excepting prologues in "Dark of the Moon" and "Bumblebee" showing the war for planet Cybertron) and B) Live-action, using CGI to integrate the Autobots and Decepticons into real settings. Director Josh Cooley ("Toy Story 4") is about to change that with "Transformers One." /Film's Ryan Scott, who attended the Paramount Pictures panel at CinemaCon 2024, got an early look at the upcoming animated movie.
"Transformers One" is a prequel set before the war when the Autobots and Decepticons were still one people. Since the movie is set entirely on Cybertron with only robot characters, it makes sense to tell the story through animation. "Transformers" is no stranger to prequels -- check out the comic series "The War Within," High Moon Studios' video game duology "War for Cybertron" and "Fall of Cybertron," and more. Still, this is new territory for the films.

While James Cameron has been intensely busy with his “Avatar” sequels, the filmmaker has been developing many projects over the years concurrently over at 20th Century Studios. One of those is a sequel to “Alita: Battle Angel” that he’s been speaking with Disney and Robert Rodriguez about—logistics such as budget and platform, surely part of the conversation. At the same time, Cameron’s been working on another long-gestating project, a remake of the classic 1966 film “Fantastic Voyage,” which he had nearly directed himself.

The long-gestating sci-fi remake of Fantastic Voyage, which could pair James Cameron with Guillermo del Toro, is still on the cards, according to the Avatar director.
According to James Cameron, his long-gestating remake of Fantastic Voyage is still happening. That in itself is newsworthy given how long Cameron has been talking about this project. The filmmaker wrote a screenplay for the film decades ago, but in the wake of Titanic's success in 1997, he became transfixed with realising the alien world of Pandora onscreen and with the exception of a couple of documentary films, has only released two Avatar films in the quarter century since.
As far as Fantastic Voyage goes, Cameron’s plan has long been to produce the film, with Gullermo del Toro being the man to direct it. We’ve seen Cameron ‘godfather’ films before while working on the never-ending production of the Avatar films, not least...

Mahershala Ali is all set to become a major Marvel star by starring as the titular character Blade in the upcoming reboot. Yet it seems his journey of becoming the daywalker Blade is more disastrous and complex than one can anticipate, for the project just seems to get delayed after delays.

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender premieres on Thursday, Feb. 22 and it’s not been regarded as a good adaptation of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender debuted on Nickelodeon in 2005 and ran for three seasons, ending in 2008. It’s been criticized for its emotionally hollow and tonally disconnected themes. The live-action show has also been under severe criticism due to the changes in the innate traits of some characters.

When "Avatar" was first released in 2009, "Star Wars" seemed wrapped up and the Marvel Cinematic Universe hadn't become a cultural phenomenon. James Cameron's sci-fi blockbuster felt like a breath of fresh air, the arrival of a new giant franchise, one that could be "Star Wars" for a new generation. It featured a massive world unlike any audiences had seen before, filled with new environments, creatures, and plants that fuel the imagination.

Though it’s based on a 2005 movie of the same name, Prime Video’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith is something that’s increasingly rare these days: an honest-to-goodness TV show. The Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane-created spy thriller understands the required rhythms of its medium very well. Each episode presents a self-contained chapter within the dangerous marriage of John (Glover) and Jane Smith (Maya Erskine) while also subtly forwarding their overall story.
The commitment to the usual TV format also means that Mr. and Mrs. Smith gets to introduce one hell of a roster of guest stars. It was only the other day that Lakeith Stansfield was announced as a co-star alongside Mark Wahlberg; it’s now reported that he’ll be joined by Rosa Salazar, whose previous roles include the zesty anime adaptation, Alita: Battle Angel.
Deadline, the outlet that broke the story, doesn’t disclose what role Salazar will be playing in Black’s thriller, which is based on the long-running – and influential – series of novels written by Donald E Westlake.
It’s previously been reported that Play Dirty will draw on several of those novels rather than one in particular, though judging by Deadline’s synopsis, it’ll take at least a...

Amazon MGM‘s Play Dirty is ready to announce its female lead for director Shane Black’s upcoming film. Joining Mark Wahlberg for Black’s crime thriller is Rosa Salazar. Lakeith Stanfield also stars, with a script written by Black, Anthony Bagarozzi, and Chuck Mondry.
According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Play Dirty focuses on the “professional thief Parker (Wahlberg), who, after being double-crossed and left for dead, sees his hunt for revenge bring with it a shot at the biggest heist of his career. But even with the help of his partner, actor-slash-con artist Grofield (Stanfield), he’ll still need to outsmart a South American dictator, the New York mob, and the world’s richest man if he hopes to stay alive.”
Rosa Salazar’s Play Dirty role remains a mystery. However, the film is inspired by Donald E Westlake’s Parker crime novels, written under the pseudonym Richard Stark.

Two days ago, I mentioned to the loved ones I was spending Christmas with that I knew exactly where I was 25 years earlier. On the evening of December 25, 1998, I was sitting in a movie theatre, taking in an opening day screening of director Robert Rodriguez‘s alien invasion horror film The Faculty (watch it Here). Now, two days after the film’s 25th anniversary, scooper Daniel Richtman has revealed on his Patreon page that Rodriguez is producing a remake of The Faculty!
That’s all of the information that’s available at this time. The Faculty is getting a remake and Robert Rodriguez is on board as producer.
Rodriguez directed the original The Faculty from a screenplay by Scream writer Kevin Williamson (working from a story by David Wechter and Bruce Kimmel). The film has the following synopsis: To the students at Harrington High, the principal and her posse of...

In hindsight, it’s her songs with Oscar-winning music producer Mark Ronson that have marked hugely transitional moments in the career of international pop sensation Dua Lipa. The road toward their most recent collaboration together, “Dance the Night,” the first single off the “Barbie” soundtrack that set the tone for the film’s record-breaking, billion dollar box office run, happens to start at the very beginning of her career in 2015.
“My first ever song that I ever put out, ‘New Love,’ I’d written with Andrew Wyatt and Emile Haynie,” Lipa said in a recent Zoom conversation with IndieWire. Wyatt, Ronson’s eventual co-composer on “Barbie,” later introduced her to the “Uptown Funk” hitmaker around the time he’d formed Silk City, his electronic supergroup with fellow platinum-selling producer Diplo. “He was looking for an artist to write with for ‘Electricity,’ and felt like he wanted something or someone with a deeper,...

Alita: Battle Angel was an ambitious live-action adaptation of an anime, but the movie had some big names behind it with Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron. The movie had an underwhelming reception and with the Disney acquirement of Fox, it made the path to a sequel more difficult. The film’s director, Rodriguez, insists that he and Cameron have always been discussing a follow-up. “He outlined, very thoroughly, a second and a third film, so there’s already material there. So yeah, we’re hoping that that will happen. But nothing more definitive than that,” Rodriguez says. However, he has also stated, “We haven’t set it for sure yet, but we’re definitely hoping to and talking about it a lot. They’re slammed with all the Avatar stuff, but they’ve definitely been engaging in it.“

Veteran producer Jon Landau has been reminiscing about the 2019 manga adaptation, Alita: Battle Angel – and reckons Disney could be persuaded to make a sequel.
Some films – apparently at random – seem destined to make a far bigger splash once they’ve been out of cinemas for a few years. Alita: Battle Angel, the 2019 sci-fi action flick directed by Robert Rodriguez from James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis’ script, is certainly one of them.
Though at the time it made a reasonably healthy $405m at the box office, in the years since the adaptation of Yukito Kishiro’s manga has grown a sizeable cult following. As an original, action-heavy sci-fi flick, it’s an increasingly rare beast. Like Oblivion and Edge Of Tomorrow before it, the 2010s might not have been inundated with blockbuster zippy-shooty action – but the gift of hindsight shows there’s a fair few gems that fall into the “just...

At the beginning of every filmmaking process, artists from across the industry will come up with an initial round of sketches, mockups, and designs for what every character in the film should look like. This is usually an explosion of creativity, one that can be difficult to fully rein in. There are so many incredibly talented artists with so many fun ideas to play with. However, in the end, everything gets whittled down and one design moves forward.
In the boundlessly creative genre that is horror, every character possesses its own charms that, ultimately, we wouldn't trade for anything. However, it's always fun to see just how many different versions exist of every on-screen horror villain. Alternate designs and pieces of rejected concept art have never been more accessible in the age of the internet, whether in an artist's virtual portfolio, the pages of fully published art books, or even test footage.

Guillermo del Toro is working on his own adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein for Netflix with an all-star cast. Collider reports today that del Toro confirms actor Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds, Alita: Battle Angel) has joined the lineup.
The outlet reports that del Toro confirmed the casting news at the 10th-anniversary screening of Pacific Rim, where the filmmaker told audiences, “I’m doing Frankenstein. We’re working on it. We start shooting in February, and it’s a movie I have been wanting to do for 50 years since I saw the first Frankenstein. I had an epiphany, and it’s basically a movie that required a lot of growth and a lot of tools that I couldn’t have done 10 years ago. Now I’m brave or crazy enough or something, and we’re gonna tackle it. It’s Oscar Isaac, Andrew Garfield, Christoph Waltz, Mia Goth, and we’re working on it.

Robert Rodriguez is a filmmaker with an incredibly eclectic filmography. Sometimes he’ll do a big-budget sci-fi film, such as “Alita: Battle Angel,” but then he might go and make a new ‘Spy Kids’ film with his kids. Perhaps he’s best known for films like violent action films like “From Dusk Till Dawn,” “Desperado,” or even “Machete.” So, what happens when a filmmaker who is no stranger to heaping amounts of gun violence decides he doesn’t want to do that sort of thing anymore?

The “Spy Kids” are back, and director Robert Rodriguez is once again spearheading the franchise through a soft reboot — this time for Netflix.
The clever, kids-have-to-be-spys-after-their-spy-parents-are-captured conceit returns in “Spy Kids: Armageddon” (now streaming), the fifth film in the franchise and one yet again written and directed by series creator Rodriguez. This time it’s a new family, led by Gina Rodriguez and Zachary Levi, who are battling an evil game designer (Billy Magnussen). Thankfully, their kids (Connor Esterson and Everly Carganilla) spring into action. It’s got a ton of humor, a ton of heart, some classically “Spy Kids”-y action and some brand-new gadgets. What more could you want?
TheWrap spoke to Rodriguez, whose first “Spy Kids” movie premiered in 2001, about returning to the franchise, what other of his movies he would want to revisit and whether there’ll be another “Alita: Battle Angel” movie.

Robert Rodriguez already wants to make a sequel to 'Spy Kids: Armageddon'.The 55-year-old director has helmed the fifth movie in the popular franchise that has been entertaining audiences for over 20 years and has plans to make another flick –although he is constrained by the amount of time that the younger cast members are available for filming.Robert told Collider: "I always want to make one pretty quickly, but you really can't film them until the summertime because the kids have to do schooling no matter what, but they have more school that age during the non-summer break."You would only get them for an hour or two on set. You get them for about four or five hours on summer break, so it's a little easier to film them. That would be great."The 'Alita: Battle Angel' director added: "The first 'Spy Kids' series we had...

The "X-Men" movie "Dark Phoenix" was hurt by upheaval at its studio, 20th Century Fox. The film was developed during the merger between Fox and Disney; in fact, "Dark Phoenix" was released on June 7, 2019, early into the new management's tenure. During that theatrical run, it made only $254 million on a $200 million budget, ultimately losing $133 million in the worst bomb of 2019.
It's tempting to think Disney undermined "Dark Phoenix." The movie was released as a lame duck, the last product assembled before all Marvel properties were back under Disney's umbrella. Marvel Studios would've doubtlessly preferred not to inherit a completed "X-Men" film, so that they could get to work on their own versions of the characters (even if the Marvel Cinematic Universe has brought back some faces from Fox's "X-Men" movies since).
However, The Hollywood Reporter indicates there was another player who helped doom "Dark Phoenix" — James Cameron.

Review: Anime and manga adaptations come in two flavors: crap and cool. With the successful live-action takes on classic Japanese comics totaling a paltry number, fans are obviously hesitant when a new production is announced. For every Speed Racer, there...

Film and television adaptations of stories from other media consistently face uphill battles. Even the most faithful of adaptations can ruffle the feathers of the source material’s die-hard fans or lead audiences to question the point of the adaptation in the first place. Anime and manga have had an even harder time on this front as their live-action adaptations not only have to figure out how to ostensibly bring cartoons to life, but also take into consideration a multitude of sensitive cultural issues.
Audiences are used to writing off live-action anime adaptations after decades of being burnt by projects like Dragon Ball Evolution, Death Note, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, and this year’s Knights of the Zodiac, with live-action versions of Yu Yu Hakusho and My Hero Academia already in development. Even when Japan produces decent live-action anime features like Gintama,...

Movie maker James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water isn’t the last time audiences are set to visit the world of Pandora. The Oscar-winning filmmaker has big plans for the film’s sequels going forward, some of which he was willing to share with others.
What to expect from ‘Avatar 3’
Cameron already knows the general direction he plans on taking the Avatar series in the third film. The director confided that the world of Pandora will be further explored, but with a new voice as a guide in the upcoming sequel. Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully ended up narrating The Way of Water. The sequel will be narrated by Britain Dalton’s Lo’ak. The change of narrators will be a common theme in the upcoming Avatar pictures.

Sunday Am: Writethru after Saturday Am Post Even though this weekend’s new entries – Warner Bros/DC’s Blue Beetle and Universal’s Strays – aren’t coming in at the top of their projections, with respective lower weekends of $25.4M and $8.3M, the overall health of the theatrical business is still in good shape. It’s being further bolstered by the fifth weekends of Barbie ($21.5M) and Oppenheimer ($10.6M), which are fueling an estimated $100.7M weekend that’s +28% over the same August frame a year ago. That was a dry spell, led by CrunchyRoll’s Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero ($21.1M).
It remains to be seen what the toll will be on today’s box office in Los Angeles from the onset of Hurricane Hilary. If it’s heavy rains, no one is going out. Blue Beetle is currently overperforming in LA.
Seriously, this weekend could have seen the subtraction...
