Ariana Grande gets the full Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind treatment in the Evan Peters-starring music video for her new song, “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love).”
The video, directed by Christian Breslauer, arrives on the release day of Ariana Grande’s new album, eternal sunshine. Following the concept from Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman’s 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Ariana Grande undergoes a medical procedure to erase the memories she has with her ex (Evan Peters).
She clings to certain material items that remind her of the memories — a teddy bear from one of their first dates, a necklace that he gave her — but eventually, the weight behind those items is erased. Both Grande and Peters also reprise the 2004 film’s iconic snow angel scene. The video ends with Grande completing the procedure (despite some emotional resistance), her walking past Peters,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe or the MCU is only getting bigger by the day. With some of the most incredible storylines and characters, the franchise has become home to several talented actors and actresses, bringing to life countless fan-favorite superheroes. Yet as the franchise goes on, it continues to recruit new talent that we might not have seen before or ones that we have already witnessed the magic of.

While many actors who become part of the franchise have ties with other major franchises or fandoms, including the DC verse, the Harry Potter universe hasn’t fished out as many actors as one would have thought. And if the recent rumors are true, one major actor from the franchise has already filmed her MCU debut role.

Ariana Grande has built such a mighty pop legacy over the past decade as one of the most consistently kicky hitmakers around — but also as one of the weirdest minds in the game. “Yes, And?” is her Number One comeback, a disco rage-queen anthem that raises expectations for her long-awaited return, Eternal Sunshine. It’s a brilliantly nasty manifesto to kick off the new Ariana era. She’s just hit her thirties, wrapping up her Saturn return, and she’s making music after a four-year layoff. But she’s got...

Nearly 15 years ago, Mariah Carey took aim at an extensively gossipy person spreading her business around. On “Obsessed,” the first single from Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, opens with the songstress chuckling before asking: “Why are you so obsessed with me?” It’s the same question Ariana Grande tried to get to the bottom of on her latest single, “Yes, And,” where she ponders: “Why do you care so much whose — I ride? Why?” Naturally, Grande sought out Carey — an expert on dodging obsessed spectators — for the song’s official remix.

The Sundance Film Festival 2024 brought two fascinating projects surrounding the concept of artificial intelligence.
The first is an ambitious love story set at the end of the world involving two unlikely machines.
The second is a documentary called Eternal You, which examines the merits of bringing dead people back to life using AI.
Both films are captivating for different reasons, and each has something compelling to say about “artificiality.”
Not to mention, one of these might end up being our favorite from Sundance 2024.
Here are our reviews of Love Me and Eternal You from the Sundance Film Festival.
Love Me
Love Me is a film critic’s catnip. There are robots, humor, romance, a dystopia, and a narrative with layers of themes and ideas to decipher.
The film, directed by Sam & Andy Zuchero, is an audacious feature film debut, taking a simplistic concept and making it feel as vast as the movie’s billion-year timeline.

The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) opens this evening with New Zealand director Jonathan Olgilvie’s coming-of-age tale Head South set against the late 1970s, post-punk music culture of his home city of Christchurch.
IFFR previously selected Olgilvie’s sci-fi thriller Lone Wolf for its Big Screen Competition in 2021.
“It’s the first time we’re going to meet him in person because it was during Corona,” says IFFR Artistic Director Vanja Kaludjercic of the first selection.
“When you put the two films side by side, you ask how can one filmmaker make two such different films,” she adds. “We really admire his creativity and ingenuity.”
Over the course of the next 10 days, Rotterdam will screen some 440 works.
The Main Competition for this 53rd edition is characteristically diverse.

Charlie Kaufman‘s work normally provides for some very dynamic and interesting visuals. However, he has only dipped his toe into an animated feature film only once before with the stop-motion animated movie Anomalisa. Now, the writer of such films as Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind looks to be trying his hand at a traditional family-friendly animated comedy with Orion and the Dark. Sean Charmatz is in the director’s chair. Netflix has just released the trailer.
The official synopsis from Netflix reads,
“Orion seems a lot like your average elementary school kid –– shy, unassuming, harboring a secret crush. But underneath his seemingly normal exterior, Orion is a ball of adolescent anxiety, completely consumed by irrational fears of bees, dogs, the ocean, cell phone waves, murderous gutter clowns, even falling off a cliff. But of all his fears, the thing he’s the most afraid...

A key music choice can really make a movie scene sing, for lack of a better word — whether it be a surprising needle drop, a song to underscore a character’s motivation or even a opening credit track that sets the tone of a film.
Four directors from this season’s biggest contenders spoke with THR about the tunes they selected for their films, some of which represent the time in which the films are set or, in one case, gives a sense of a character who is notably absent from most of the feature.

Jan Naszewski’s Warsaw-based sales outlet New Europe Film Sales has sold North American distribution rights for its Berlinale-selected drama “Delegation” to Greenwich Entertainment.
“Delegation” is a story of three Israeli high school friends who take part in a class trip visiting Holocaust sites in Poland – their last time together before going to the army. During the trip, shy boy Frisch, aspiring artist Nitzan and class heartthrob Ido deal with issues of love, friendship and politics against the backdrop of concentration camps and memorial sites. The journey will change them forever.
The deal for the film, which had its premiere in the Generation 14Plus competition, was negotiated by Naszewski and Greenwich co-president Edward Arentz.
“While it appeared in Gen14 and its main characters are teenagers, this is not what you would think of as a typical YA film or typical YA filmmaking, nor will the audience be limited to young adults.

On Netflix’s “Lockwood & Co.,” Stokes wields a rapier sword as Lucy Carlyle, who hunts down spirits in an alternative London where young adults have psychic abilities, and use them professionally to subdue ghosts.
Based on the books by Jonathan Stroud, and developed by Joe Cornish (“Attack the Block”), “Lockwood & Co.” has been a breakout for Netflix since its Jan. 27 premiere –– scaring away competitors from the streamer’s Top 10 list (which it’s reached in 74 countries).
Stokes herself is no stranger to a Netflix phenomenon, having played Francesca Bridgerton in the first two seasons of the Shondaland sensation “Bridgerton.” But to accommodate filming “Lockwood & Co.,” she appeared only a few times in Season 2, and eventually stepped away from the role,...

Göteborg Film Festival, running from Jan. 27-Feb. 5, will welcome back some familiar faces during its 46th edition. But it keeps on looking out for skillful newcomers, says Josef Kullengård, head of industry at the festival and the Nordic Film Market. “We want to be the place where you discover new Nordic talent,” he tells Variety.
“It’s a strong year for projects in development, while the workin-progress section combines established directors such as Erik Poppe [presenting ‘Quisling’] with first-timers or people like Ulaa Salim, following ‘Sons of Denmark’ with ‘Eternal.’ It definitely mirrors what the current Nordic film landscape looks like.”
Oscar-winning actor Alicia Vikander will also introduce a new wave of directors, unveiling films produced by the students of educational film program Alicia Vikander Film Lab 2022.

There’s a memorable scene in the movie Elf in which Will Ferrell bursts into his dad’s office during a business meeting, twirls with glee, and proclaims, “I’m in love, I’m in love, and I don’t care who knows it!” If you took this four-second clip and played it 1,160 consecutive times, you’d get the equivalent of Chance the Rapper’s 77-minute debut album The Big Day—a tribute to Chance’s wife, Kirsten Corley, and a companion album to their wedding, which took place earlier this year in March.

Chance The Rapper isn’t single anymore. In fact, he’s so married that he would never entertain a side chick — because he’s married, and it’s a happy marriage, with a strong foundation that’s built on God, and the relationship was etched in cosmic stone from the moment the two lovers met. He would very much like you to know that. At 22-songs and 77 minutes, Chance’s “debut” album The Big Day is a modern monument to matrimony.

The name and release info for the upcoming Sailor Moon theatrical films have been announced!
Once again, we come to the last day of the sixth month -- June 30th -- known to Moonies far and wide as the birthday of our lunar queen and her pink-haired daughter, and... you know... I should know by now not to be surprised when some huge piece of Sailor Moon news comes our way on this holiest of days, but by Serenity, they got me again!
Two years ago today, Sailor Moon Crystal’s creative team announced that the fourth arc of the manga, “Dream,” would not be adapted into a fourth season of Sailor Moon Crystal, but rather two feature films. This naturally raised a lot questions about how faithfully it would be able to adapt the arc on the matter of running time alone, but we did...

Imagine Entertainment has set its roster of participants of Impact 2, the inventive program where the company empowers outside voices, “creators,” paying the newcomers accepted to the program to develop TV series and movies under the watchful eye of “shapers,” a group of established industry writers and showrunners. Sigil will still pick up where Doom left off, but John Romero says it will take a little longer.
Sigil, John Romero's unofficial spiritual successor to Doom, has been delayed again. This time, the delay is due to problems with the production of the big box edition of the game. Because Romero wants those who purchased the physical edition of the game to have early accesss, Sigil's launch has been delayed until the first week of May. Previously, Romero stated that the game would be available in April.
In case you missed the initial announcement, John Romero, one of the original designers and creators of Doom, has revealed a new project called Sigil that he describes as a kind of spiritual successor to the revolutionary 1993 Fps title. There aren't many details available regarding the specifics of this successor at this time, but we do know a few...

James Lafferty and Stephen Colletti drew from their own life experiences when they set out to create their independent TV series “Everyone Is Doing Great” — and we don’t just mean the good ones.
The “One Tree Hill” alums stopped by TheWrap last week to talk about their fundraising campaign for the new dramedy, which centers around two former co-stars, Jeremy Davis (Lafferty) and Seth Stewart (Colletti), who are best-known for their fictional “The Vampire Diaries”-type show, “Eternal,” but have been having a tough time being taken seriously in showbiz since it ended five years ago.
Because TheWrap got a sneak peek at the first episode ahead of our sit-down, we knew about one awkward scene in the pilot in which Seth has to pretend to, um, “make love” to a pillow for an on-camera audition. Of course we immediately needed to know what led them to that cringe-inducing plot point.

Best-selling mystery author Lisa Scottoline has inked a six-book deal with publisher G.P. Putnam’s Sons, leaving St. Martin’s Press. The New York Television Festival, which this year has moved up to July from its traditional fall slot, has selected 59 independent TV and digital pilots for its competition slate.
Over the years, the festival has yielded several network deals for show creators. The 14th annual edition of the festival will be held July 14-20, a shift designed to align it more closely with the industry’s development timeline.
Festival organizers emphasized the diversity of this year’s creators, with a record 72% of pilots featuring people of color above the line, up from 56% in 2017, and 70% featuring women as creators, writers or directors. Geographic diversity is another feature of the lineup, with 30% of projects coming from beyond New York and La, and entries from the UK, Austria, Australia and Canada.
Most of the titles (45 out of 59) are world festival premieres, and 51% come to Nytf without any representation.

The 2018 Sundance Film Festival has passed, and a quiet year for deals and buzz led some to speculate films focused on people of color and women were the reason for fewer acquisitions. “Who are these movies for?” griped an influential distributor to Variety. On Twitter, “Blindspotting” producer Keith Calder perfectly summed up the fallacy in that question: “White male privilege is thinking a movie that doesn’t appeal to you is a movie that doesn’t appeal to anyone. If you are a film executive attending Sundance… at least have the class and self-respect to not anonymously trash those movies in the press.” (“Blindspotting” eventually sold to Lionsgate at the end of the festival.)

Last time on Pretty Little Liars, "A" hijacked a fashion show and masqueraded around like the devil; Emily got naked in front of Samara, who then unforgivably brought another gay lady to Emily’s modeling debut; Spencer used her fists to knock out Mona’s teeth, which she immediately fashioned into a belt; Aria continued her inexplicable fascination with Jason Dilaurentis; and Hanna invited Emily to live with her.
You know it’s going to be a good episode when the first previously is Jenna and Aria in pottery class in the dark, circling each other like some blind sharks.

Though we all know Romero is prepping another zombie opus up in Canada as we speak, and some casting has been done for it in the last couple of weeks, the rest of the details have been pretty vague. A story in Variety today may clear it up a bit. First and foremost, the plot involves inhabitants of an isolated island off the North American coast who find their relatives rising from the dead to eat their kin. The leaders of the island feud over whether or not to kill their reanimated relatives or preserve them in hopes of finding a cure. Next, more cast. The other day Alan Van Sprang was announced, which the trade confirmed along with Kenneth Welsh ("The Fog", "The Covenant"), Kathleen Munroe ("Eternal") , Devon Bostick ("Godsend", "Saw IV"), Richard Fitzpatrick ("Jill Rips",...

Next, more cast. The other day Alan Van Sprang was announced, which the trade confirmed along with Kenneth Welsh (The Fog, The Covenant), Kathleen Munroe (Eternal) , Devon Bostick (Godsend, Saw IV), Richard Fitzpatrick (Jill Rips, Boondock Saints), Stefano Colacitti and Athena Karkanis (Saw IV).

In Eternal, the vampire is a vamp. And a lesbian vamp at that. Indeed, the film's debuting Canadian writer-director-producers, Wilhelm Liebenberg and Federico Sanchez, are so determined to turn their tale of Ms. Dracula into an erotic thriller, they sacrifice all story logic and character integrity at the altar of bondage, blindfolds, fetish worship, high-risk sex and several literal bloodbaths. Bram Stoker would be, well, horrified.
The filmmakers certainly pile on the atmosphere. There's a dark, forbidding stately home hidden away in woods with bonfires on the front lawn, boudoirs and bathrooms dripping with suggestive decor that mingles the sinister with the decadent, an orgiastic Venetian masked ball with painted, semi-nude women. Every female in the movie is dressed to look like a tart or a dominatrix. Occasional lapses in dialogue contain such howlers that one is tempted to treat the movie as camp, but Liebenberg and Sanchez seem to be treating all this with studied seriousness.
Not that any audience will. Eternal is selling sex and horror and young, beautiful women in jeopardy. Nothing new there. This 2003 film, according to the credit roll, will entice young people in the mood for old-fashioned voyeurism, but boxoffice will be fleeting, certainly not eternal. Real payoff will come in cable and DVD.
The hero is a Montreal vice cop, Raymond Pope (Conrad Pla) -- don't you love that name? -- whose approach to his job is to indulge in as much vice as possible. He apparently is willing to have kinky sex with just about every eligible woman in Montreal other than his wife (Sarah Manninen).
Meanwhile, his wife goes cruising for women. Being more discreet than her husband, she does so on the Internet under the handle of Wildcat. Which brings her to a gated mansion that would not be out of place in New Orleans, where she meets the alarmingly alluring Elizabeth Kane (Caroline Neron in a bravura performance). Elizabeth seduces, then slays Wildcat with a sharp metal dagger that slips over one of her fingers.
As Elizabeth drinks thirstily from an open vein in WIldcat's neck, her hapless assistant Irina (Victoria Sanchez) wanders in and says, "I'm sorry. I hope I'm not disturbing you."
Irina soon has more pressing concerns when Pope shows up a few days later -- it takes awhile for him to notice his wife is missing -- and reveals he is a cop. Irina was supposed to vet such troublesome victims before ushering them in to her mistress.
Thankfully for Elizabeth, Pope is a poor cop. For he never bothers to make his investigation official -- after all, a missing person is a missing person -- or to find and follow up on clues. Mostly, he continually confronts Elizabeth, makes empty threats and finally decides what the hell and has sex with her, too.
Meanwhile, bodies pile up and all evidence points toward Pope. Why this would be is unclear because nowhere in vampire literature do the Undead have the ability to fabricate DNA or to cause anyone's body fluids to turn up in places they should not be.
One body happens to belong to the wife (Ilona Elkins) of Pope's partner (Nick Baillie, ) with whom -- you guessed it -- Pope has been having an affair involving bondage and razor blades. Another belongs to his flirty baby-sitter (Liane Balaban). What Pope doesn't seem to realize -- but the viewer does -- is that Elizabeth is really Countess Erszebet Bathory of Hungary, a 15th century woman responsible for the torture deaths of about 650 young women.
Anyway, the movie moves on to a wild climax in Venice that is rife with illogic. That is unless someone can explain how a bunch of Italian cops can capture and imprison a vampire by simply drawing their weapons. The film ends with an enigmatic coda that might signal the desire for a sequel. More Eternity anyone?
