I caught this film at the premiere at Cinemateket at the Danish Film Insitute last Friday. I watched after reading a review in the danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende, which gave the film quite a hard time... I don't know why, I liked the film, and so it appeared did everybody else in the cinema after watching.
Anyway, it's a nice little family film about a girl named Malou, whose father is a professional soldier. While he is away on duty she and her mother walks home alone. She missed the father a lot, and one day when a jeep pulls up into the driveway she runs towards the jeep but it is not her father, it is a messenger telling her that her father has disappeared. Her mother breaks down and she retracts into her own little world and must find ways to deal with the loss by herself.
A moving little piece, absolutely. I recommend you watch it if you can find it anywhere - it's a short so it won't be out on rental video, but maybe on TV, who knows..
8/10
