Raw, riveting and relentlessly compelling, Marvel’s Jessica Jones: The Complete First Season ignites a firestorm of suspense cloaked in the haze of a noir-inspired slow burn. Haunted by a tragedy that broke her world apart, Jessica Jones settles in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City, and opens her own detective agency, called Alias Investigations, with the hope of rebuilding her life and keeping the lights on in her apartment. She discovers that the source of her trauma, a mind-controlling sociopath named Kilgrave, has resurfaced, forcing her to use her gifts as a private eye to track him down before he causes more damage to her life or to anyone else.
The complete first season of the Netflix original series Marvel’s Jessica Jones is available to own on Blu-ray™ and DVD on Aug. 22 with 13 exciting episodes for fans to add to their libraries.

Dwayne Johnson Almost Starred in a Hard R Adaptation of Saints Row with Dan Trachtenberg at the Helm
With Assassin's Creed, Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, and several more video game movies currently in development, it's proof that Hollywood has shifted their attention to video game adaptations in hopes that they finally figure out how to make great films out of them. Only time will tell if they succeed.
Turns out there was a feature film adaptation of Saints Row that was in development from video game developer Thq. They had a "strong script" written by Peter Aperlo (Watchman: The End is Nigh, 300: March to Glory) with producers Lloyd Levin (Boogie Nights, Watchmen, United 93), and Andrew Cosby (Haunted, Eureka, 2 Guns) leading the charge.
This was being developed as a hard R adaptation, which is what you'd expect from Saints Row, and Dwayne Johnson was interested in starring in it. They were also looking to bring on 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg to helm the film. According to Fandom,...

You wait years for a Kurt Russell-fronted Western and suddenly two arrive in quick succession. Before heading off into the wintery hills of Wyoming for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, we’ll see Russell pick up the hat and sheriff’s badge for S. Craig Zahler haunting cannibal drama Bone Tomahawk, and today brings forth the film’s maiden trailer.
Coming by way of Entertainment Weekly, our first look at Zahler’s stylish and decidedly dark drama showcases Russell as Sheriff Franklin Hunt, sworn protector of a dusty old town known as Bright Hope. Haunted by a group of vicious cannibals, the residents of the remote settlement sleep with one eye open, though when a number of settlers are kidnapped, Russell’s lead whips a search party in order to locate the missing persons – and put an end to the cannibal’s reign once and for all.

From Amy Acker to James Frain, we celebrate Grimm’s habit of filling its supporting cast with geek favourites…
Read our look-back at the careers of Grimm co-creators David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, here.
When Grimm’s makers were looking for their Nick Burkhardt, the job was to cast someone with all the requirements of a leading man, but none of the distracting ‘wasn’t he in that other thing?’ baggage. In David Giuntoli, whose TV appearances had until then largely been confined to one-off roles in comedies and dramas including Grey’s Anatomy and Ghost Whisperer (the latter produced, not at all coincidentally, by Grimm co-creator Jim Kouf), they found their guy.
With Giuntoli in place, and a solid cast of regulars around him including Silas Weir Mitchell, Sasha Roiz, Russell Hornsby, Reggie Lee and Claire Coffee, it was time to fill in the guest roles.

Plenty of “regular” shows are airing Halloween episodes this week, but we love that Our Shows are doing the same, especially when you consider that most regular episodes of Our Shows could be already be considered Halloween fare. Tonight, Grimm takes on Halloween with an episode that takes on a Latin American folk tale, La Llorona. We also learn that Wesen have a particular fondness for this holiday.
For the first time, NBC will be broadcasting tonight’s episode of Grimm in Spanish on Telemundo from 12-1 a.m. (Et) and English on mun2 at 1-2 a.m. (Et). These airings will follow the episode’s debut on NBC at 9/8c. More about that is in the press release, which follows these videos for your Halloween episode appetizers:

Those of us who know and love the very excellent Haven know that the town is a wee bit creepy. Previously it’s been the townspeople who have been slightly (or more than slightly) scary, but tonight we learn that even the buildings can have issues – or at least one special building can. In fact, the building used for the location shoot has a history of its own.
Featurette: Haven – Haunted House is Haunted
Click here to view the embedded video.
It wasn’t an incident-free shoot, by the way. In a recent interview, Eric Balfour told us that at one point “the ground underneath that house literally sucked my leg out from underneath me, threw me on the ground and then took out Emily with it.” Emily Rose agreed, and said that “we were really happy to get out of that house. It was creepy.” How cool is that?...

If you're not a fan of spoilers, then maybe you don't "need" to know these tidbits about "American Horror Story" Season 2, but the rest of us can't wait to hear what creator Ryan Murphy said recently about who the new "Rubber Man" is, if we'll see another Halloween episode, and lots more.
Murphy (@MrRPMurphy) held a Twitter Q&A earlier today, and TV Guide provided the following detailed transcript:
1. Season 2, known as "American Horror Story: Asylum", really is different: For those who didn't watch the first season, Murphy says you can start watching now without knowing anything. "It's a completely new story," he wrote. He also reiterated there would be no parallels to Season 1. "Not a single thing...except some of the actors." The returning cast members include Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Lily Rabe with the newbies being Adam Levine, Jenna Dewan, Clea DuVall,...

Code Red has made a name for themselves as a DVD distributor unafraid to take risks, invest in the bizarre, and most certainly, respond to fan interest. Bill Norton Olsen, the fiendish brain behind the label, is famous for telling it like it is, taking on all comers on message boards and via his own forums, defending his product and standing up for the meek uber geeks who delight in his offerings. Norton Olsen is a rare dissenting voice in the DVD vs blu-ray debate, swearing he will never give in to Sony’s new format for a variety of reasons, and he isn’t shy about blasting naysayers who blindly attack what he does send to shelves. . Last year Code Red launched a new series hosted by ex-wwe superstar Maria Kanellis, dubbing it Maria’S B-movie Mayhem. While primarily focusing on double bills (Scream/Barn Of The Naked Dead,...

Machine Gun Preacher
Opens: 2011
Cast: Gerard Butler, Michelle Monaghan, Michael Shannon, Madeline Carroll, Kathy Baker
Director: Marc Forster
Summary: After finding God, drug-dealing biker Sam Childers renounces his outlaw ways and embarks on a spiritual path, becoming a crusader for hundreds of desperate and helpless children who were being forced to become soldiers in war-torn southern Sudan.
Analysis: Despite taking the freshly rejuvenated James Bond franchise and nearly destroying it with the very disappointing "Quantum of Solace", German-Swiss filmmaker Marc Forster still has a decent amount of good will left thanks to strong earlier efforts like "Monster's Ball," "Finding Neverland," "Stranger Than Fiction" and "The Kite Runner".
Now, in his first film since that Bond outing, Forster returns to serious drama with this true story tale of a biker who became a humanitarian crusader for children in the Sudan. The story itself is fascinating, the born again Sam Childers and...

Somewhere, in a parallel universe, Matthew Fox is working on Wall Street. That was his original plan when he attended Columbia University, where he earned a degree in economics. But through a combination of chance, perseverance, and fate, he ended up the star of the ABC phenomenon "Lost." Over six seasons, his beleaguered Dr. Jack Shephard has roamed past, future, and sideways worlds to take on a smoke monster, uncontrollable time travel, and the literal and figurative ghosts of his father. Audiences have watched as Jack has gone from a man of science and reluctant leader to a man of faith ready to embrace his destiny. Just what that destiny is will finally be revealed May 23 in the show's hotly anticipated two-and-a-half-hour series finale. As Jack's story has unfolded, Fox has transformed. Previously best known as the eldest sibling on the soapy drama "Party of Five," the actor made a...

In 2002, before the phenomenon known as "Lost" captured the hearts, minds, and obsessive compulsive disorders of fans everywhere, Matthew Fox starred in a rather unsuccessful TV show called "Haunted" that lasted from what I remember only a few weeks. Thanks to Phase4Films this skeleton is coming back out of the closet!
"After having a near-death experience, ex-cop-turned-private-eye Frank Taylor (Fox) learns that he has the ability to see and communicate with restless ghosts of murdered people who ask for his help in solving their deaths."
Sound interesting? Honestly, we barely remember the show so it's kind of hard to say either way. That'll change on April 13th when the show drops on home video featuring all eleven episodes, four of which were never aired.

Before Lost , Matthew Fox starred in the 2002 series Haunted . Think of it as Stir of Echoes the television show as audiences found Fox suddenly being able to see the dead, and communicate with them. Naturally, he's a private eye so the ghosts of the recently murdered contact him to find their killers. The show was short-lived. Phase 4 Films is collecting the series in a box set hitting on April 13. Check out the artwork below.

For many, having the top rated show on The SciFi Channel (soon to be SyFy) would be achievement enough. They wouldn't see it as just the starting point for more but rather as the culmination for entertaining audiences. Not so for Andrew Cosby, co-creator of Sf's Eureka and one of the brain-trusts behind comic book company Boom Studios.
I met Andy at Comic-Con, where he impressed me with his love for genre and his commitment to taking a stand against homophobia and hate. We had a wide ranging chat about his carrer, his shows, his ambitions and his lawless ways. And the strange mixtures of two great tastes that shouldn't work together but, somehow, seem to.
"I love mixing avocados with chocolate milk," Cosby told me during our phone chat. He meant it figuratively, but it was a telling image that gives insight into how Cosby approaches creating genre visions.

I want to thank whomever from the SciFi Channel reads my column. Back in August, I said: "SciFi Channel ... could you please go ahead and run 'Haunted' in the same way as 'Charlie Jade'?" For those who don't know, "Haunted" was a short-lived Upn program that starred Matthew Fox of "Lost" fame. The network has twice aired the first two episodes, but pulled it from their schedule once they aired. Replace "Charlie Jade" with "Haunted" at 3 a.m., and I'll be happy. Well, SciFi did me one better, and will run most of the episodes from the show in a daytime block on Oct. 9, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. My recorder is ready, so thank you, SciFi Channel! Since the new 2008-09 season is significantly underway, I thought I was give my first impressions of the genre shows that have returned or ...

This column contains Moderate Spoilers for the BBC series, "Primeval." First things first ... I want to again mention that "Charlie Jade" continues to be shown on the SciFi Channel. The bad news is that it is running Tuesdays at 3 a.m. The reason I mention it is that I keep running into people who liked the show but didn't know it was still airing. So, you have been notified! SciFi Channel, I have a related request ... if you did this for "Charlie Jade," could you please go ahead and run "Haunted" in the same way? Sci Fi Channel has acquired rights to the off-network drama Star Trek: Enterprise along with several other series, made-for-TV movies and miniseries through a deal with CBS Paramount Domestic Television. Along with Enterprise, the deal includes exclusive cable rights to the classic series The Twilight Zone, which marks a renewal for the network; the show Tales From the Darkside; and such short-lived series as CBS' Threshold, starring Carla Gugino, and Wolf Lake, with Lou Diamond Phillips, as well as UPN's Jake 2.0, starring Christopher Gorham, and Haunted, featuring Matthew Fox. Other acquired titles include the series Kindred, the Embraced, Level 9, Special Unit 2 and All Souls. Sci Fi said it's planning to premiere Enterprise, a Star Trek prequel that stars Scott Bakula and ran from 2001-05 on UPN, in early fall. Tales From the Darkside will premiere later this year, and the other acquired series will debut sometime during the 2006-07 season.
John Frankenheimer's 1998 feature Ronin is coming to the small screen. CBS is developing a drama series project from writer-producer Rick Ramage and feature producer Ashtok Amritraj based on the film starring Robert De Niro, eyed for fall 2004. The project, which Ramage is writing and executive producing, has received a script commitment plus penalty from the network. Amritraj and Jon J. Jashni will also produce through Hyde Park Entertainment with MGM -- which produced the movie -- also involved in the TV project as the rights holder. The 1998 feature centered on a motley crew of outcast intelligence agents who work as guns for hire. Ramage executive produced UPN's drama series Haunted. He most recently created and is executive producing USA Network's Western forensic drama Peacemakers, starring Tom Berenger. The project was packaged by Broder-Webb-Chervin-Silbermann.
NEW YORK -- UPN is hoping the mullet becomes stylish this fall. At the unveiling of the network's fall schedule Thursday at Madison Square Garden, UPN entertainment president Dawn Ostroff hailed the new comedy The Mullets as "the smartest stupid show on TV." The series, which rounds out a risky new all-comedy Tuesday block for the ratings-challenged network, centers on two working-class brothers who seem to have misplaced a few dozen IQ points somewhere in their short-in-front, long-in-back haircuts. "Think 'Dumb & Dumber, ' but even dumber," Ostroff -- who introduced the schedule just three weeks after giving birth to a daughter -- told the media buyers assembled for the network's sales pitch. UPN is trying hard to laugh it up. The Viacom-owned network suffered through a bruising season, with the dramas Haunted, Twilight Zone and the rap soap Platinum failing to catch fire in the ratings. The Tuesday drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer has seen its numbers erode and will not return. So the network is banking that its one growth area -- the Monday comedy block -- can spread to Tuesdays as well, with the third-season sitcom One on One now kicking off the night at 8 p.m.

UPN has set its sights on relaunching a second comedy night next season. The network has ordered four new comedies for the fall, the most laughs it has carried on its schedule since 1997, sources said. The network picked up all four comedy pilots Warner Bros. TV produced for it this season -- the Duane Martin starrer All of Us, based on the real home life of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith; Opposite Sex, which stars Eve as a clothing designer; the family comedy Rock Me Baby; and an untitled project about two redneck brothers sporting mullet haircuts. With its current crop of Monday comedies all set to return in the fall, it's clear that UPN will be opening up a second comedy front for its four new sitcoms in the fall. As further evidence, UPN has so far picked up only one new drama, Viacom Prods.' sci-fi project Jake 2.0 (formerly untitled nanobot), though it will be saying goodbye to three dramas at next week's season close: Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the canceled freshmen Haunted and The Twilight Zone.
