E! Entertainment Television's E! News Live is set to undergo some changes, the cable network confirmed Tuesday. The daily news show is ditching its live format and reorganizing its staff. Early next month, news correspondent Giuliana DePandi will become the show's new host. John Burke, who has been anchoring the program since December 2003, will be leaving at month's end. In addition, five production staffers have been laid off. No decision has been made on any name change for the show. DePandi is repped by WMA and 3 Arts Entertainment.

Pamela Anderson has rubbished reports she's to star in a new action film - insisting she's serious about her retirement from showbiz. Fans were shocked when the former Baywatch actress was reported to be signed to appear in 'spiritual' movie No Rules, after telling interviewers "I'm never going to work again. I'm retired. I'm just being a mom" to her two children with ex- husband Tommy Lee, Brandon, seven, and Dylan, six. But she insists she really has retired. Anderson told American TV show E! News Live last night, "I don't want to be an actress. I never did want to be an actress. I have retired. I always said that when the kids started going to school, like kindergarten and first grade, which they are right now, that I wouldn't do a series or any more movies or anything like that. Since I've said I retired, I've had so many people come up to me about movies and things like that. I'm not interested in a TV show - that takes too much time." Despite her early retirement, Anderson is currently providing the voice for animated stripper Erotica Jones in American network Spike TV show Stripperella.

E! Networks has eliminated about 10 positions from its news division following a decision to trim the length of its weeknight franchise E! News Live. The layoffs, which claimed employees in New York and Los Angeles, were prompted by halving the length of Live to a half-hour beginning Monday, reversing a decision to expand it to 60 minutes last year. The weekend editions of Live will remain a full hour, while the latter half-hour on weeknights will be filled by some of E!'s new series, including It's Good to Be ... and Celebrities Uncensored. Mark Sonnenberg, president of entertainment at E! Networks, attributed the decision to trim Live to ratings slippage. "The show hasn't performed as strongly as we would have liked it to," Sonnenberg said. "It was a programming move, not a budgetary move." Only one senior position in the producer ranks will be removed, a representative said. Some of the eliminated employees will be reassigned, while others in the division, which numbers about 50 people, escaped cuts because they are performing functions outside of the news department as well. No on-air talent will be removed.

American Idol judge Randy Jackson has reportedly undergone gastric bypass surgery in an attempt to lose weight. America's Inside Edition is reporting that Jackson, 46, underwent a procedure called the Fobi Pouch earlier this month at the Center For The Surgical Treatment Of Obesity in Southern California. Dr. Basil Felahy explains, "The patients who undergo this kind of procedure are usually morbidly obese. By giving (the patient) a small pouch which is going to be his stomach from now on, the main stomach and bowel attached to it is bypassed." While Jackson hasn't confirmed the surgery, he did release a statement to TV's E! News Live on Friday saying, "I have taken serious steps to improve my health over the past few weeks, so I may appear lighter very soon. I want to resume my Speedo modeling career." Jackson, who co-judges American Idol with Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, is expected to return for the show's third installment in January.
