John Lennon‘s “Imagine” is the most famous song by a former Beatle. Paul McCartney has covered countless songs over the years and yet he never put his spin on “Imagine.” He once explained why he didn’t want to cover “Imagine.” Love or hate his decision, his reasoning makes a lot of sense given the song’s lasting cultural impact.

I was going to have a whacking great picture of John and just say, ‘He was my friend.’ Which was true. I’m totally proud to have worked with him.
Outsiders wanted Paul to sing John’s most famous solo tune. “But then people started saying,...

The Beatles‘ songs kept returning to one theme: love, love, love. In the same vein, several of the best Beatles songs have the word “love” in the title. Here are a few of The Beatles’ best songs with that magic word in their names.
The Beatles | Bettmann / Contributor 5. ‘All You Need Is Love’
“All You Need Is Love” is a song with a great message. It also paved the way for John Lennon to write other “message” songs like “Give Peace a Chance,” “Imagine,” and “Working Class Hero.”
The book Lennon on Lennon: Conversations with John Lennon includes a 1972 interview with the rock star. In it, he discusses the tune. “I was saying to Yoko, I still believe all you need is love,” he said. “But I don’t believe that just saying it is gonna do it.

In 2012, before he became an Imagine Entertainment screenwriter, Justin Calen-Chenn received his film education in a crappy hotel room. He’d already worked on a handful of short films, but he also had a life in the violent Los Angeles underworld that forced him to spend weeks hiding out. To pass the time, he read classic screenplays like “Midnight Cowboy” while eating Domino’s Pizza.
Four years later, a close friend suffered a brutal death and Calen-Chenn said that’s when everything changed. “I had the choice to continue to the top, or give it all up,” he said.
Calen-Chenn, who’s now 36, chose the latter. He and his creative partner Stephen “Dr” Love workshopped “The 99” as part of Imagine Impact, an intense, eight-week program that seeks unknown or underrepresented writers with unique stories and gets their projects ready for sale.

Hawaii representative and Democratic presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard shared a sweet and simple cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine” to mark the 39th anniversary of the musician’s death Sunday.
In the clip, Gabbard and her husband, Abraham Williams, perform the song in the back of her campaign bus. Williams strums a ukulele while he and Gabbard share vocal duties, the pair slipping into some soft harmonies as they sing, “Imagine there’s no countries/It isn’t hard to do/Nothing to kill, or die for/No religion, too.
