The series was broadcast from September 1991 to January 1993, for a total of 49 episodes. Mega Channel has several times planned to revive the series with additional episodes, since it has become one of the highest rated Greek sitcoms from the 1990s and a hit in reruns. Screenwriter Dimitra Papadoulou was at first not interested in a revival. Since the death of co-protagonist Vlassis Bonatsos in 2004, Papadopoulou has been actively against any revival. She feels that Bonatsos can not be replaced.
Dimitra Papadopoulou based the characters of Spyros and Dimitra on two characters she created for the radio show "Kyriaki Meter Pasis Kakias" (Sunday, Mother of All Evil). The roles in the radio show were also played by Dimitra herself and Spyros Papadopoulos.
The series was first offered to the channel ANT1, which rejected the scripts as unacceptable. The series was then offered to rival channel Mega Channel which accepted it.
Vlassis Bonatsos was previously mostly a theatrical actor and professional singer. He rose to fame in the early 1970s as a member of the rock band "Peloma Bokiou". His signature song was "Garifale,Garifale" (1970), though it was at first sung by another band member.
The address of the apartment building where the characters live is given as "Adamantos 4" (Diamond 4). This is fictional but the external shots of the building used an actual apartment building in Lycabettus.
