Dirty Cop is a mockumentary that seems to be based on the TV show, COPS. The film stars the amazing Ed Wood of acting, Joel Wynkoop as Officer Friendly, a *cop* who's out trying to make the world a safer place in some pretty unconventional and psychotic ways.
The movie is pretty dark as Officer Friendly is a VERY DIRTY COP. In fact, he's more of a criminal then the criminals he's out on the streets harassing. When he's not busting 'perps' he's giving hell to his personal camera operator who he has tagging along to video tape his work. In my opinion, some of the film's funniest moments come while Officer Friendly and the camera guy (I think his name was Mr. Fanboy) are just driving around as the conversations are mighty hilarious!
There's some twists in this film which I won't mention as they'd spoil the film. What I will say is that this is a hilarious mockumentary and dark comedy. It's downright one of the funniest films I've seen and ranks as one of Florida based independent director, Tim Ritter's finest works. Joel Wynkoop (who I find to be a terrible actor in a GOOD way) carries the film with a lot of perverted and reckless enthusiasm. While Joel's not as 'Ed Wood' as I normally prefer, he's definitely still Joel Wynkoop and that makes for an entertaining viewing experience.
If you like COPS, if you like mockumentaries, if you're not PC, then DIRTY COP will provide an hour and a half of sheer delight. It's got everything an exploitation film needs (nudity, sex, drug abuse) and then some! Tim Ritter has written a script that allowed Joel to elevate above his normal 'Ed Wood of acting' reputation. In most cases I'd be disappointed but not in this case because DIRTY COP rocks the house!!
Highly Recommended!
