Exclusive: Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories has teamed with producer Monica Saunders-Weinberg to adapt Fiona McIntosh’s novel The Pearl Thief as a feature film. One Life screenwriter Nick Drake is attached to write.
The Pearl Thief is billed as a sweeping, epic story love and betrayal set between 1939 and the early 1960s. Saunders-Weinberg acquired the rights and took the project to Nine Perfect Strangers maker Made Up Stories, which then attached Drake to the project.
Synopsis reads: “The stakes are high in this gripping novel set between the city of Prague and its snowy woodlands on the cusp of World War II, and later in the streets of Paris, London, and the heather-covered moors of Yorkshire in 1963.”
The plot will follow Katerina, a museum curator determined to overcome the trauma of her past and avenge the pain inflicted upon those she loved and those she’ll never know.

The Chromatica Ball, Lady Gaga‘s most recent stadium tour, fought against numerous obstacles before it was able to fully bloom in 2022. The run was postponed twice — first when the world shut down during the pandemic in 2020, then again when only certain stops on the international run were prepared for the return of live music in 2021. When the Ball finally commenced, Gaga leaned into her biggest and weirdest musical modes.

Range Media Partners has signed filmmaker Kat Wood for representation.
The U.K.-born and L.A.-based director and screenwriter was a BBC broadcast journalist before making her mark on Hollywood. Wood, who was named to Screen International’s “Stars of Tomorrow” list, has shown her proficiency as a screenwriter, setting up a high-profile genre feature every year for the last six years.
Last August, Thunder Road Pictures optioned “Enigma,” Wood’s original contemporary supernatural spy thriller. The film – which Wood will executive produce — follows British spy Emma Taylor who is suddenly tasked with hiding a mysterious and dangerous artifact that falls into her hands. The project has been described as a “reverse Indiana Jones,” meaning that the story is about someone whose job is focused on “hiding rather than finding,” thus turning traditional adventure film tropes on their head.

Enigma, the new Thai series starring superstar Metawin Opas-iamkajorn (of 2gether fame) is just out, and we have mixed feelings about it. The supernatural series is set in an all-girls school that is suddenly plagued with strange incidents. One particular girl has her interest piqued by these incidents, and she slowly realizes she’s much more involved in them than she had expected. Enigma is quite fast-paced, and in the short 45 minutes, a lot goes down, although some parts are funny rather than frightening. Let’s dive right into episode 1 of Enigma.
Spoilers Ahead
What Happens In The Episode?
A young girl is being interviewed in what looks like a black-and-white documentary for a school project. She holds a piece of art in her hand that has what looks like a person that is living with many versions of themselves in a cage of cracked glass, and a lot of eyes surround the cage.

Your performance in 2001 war thriller Enigma – adapted from the Robert Harris thriller with Kate Winslet and Tom Hollander – is one of my favourites. But would you make a better backroom boy or globetrotting spy? catwhowalksbyitself
I like to think a better globetrotting spy because I have a sense of adventure, curiosity, don’t mind risk-taking and I love travel. I did have to prepare for quite a few months beforehand to get my head around all the mathematics. So I went to visit this professor at Cambridge, and spent time at the National Museum of Computing in Milton Keynes, being taught about the concept of codebreaking. I love doing research, so it was bliss.

Lady Gaga took a tumble during Thursday night's Enigma show in Las Vegas. However, the singer handled the whole thing like a pro. "Everything is Ok," she reassured the crowd, per a video captured by a fan. Veteran Dutch director Ate de Jong is set to shoot “My Best Friend Anne Frank,” the true story of the teenage diarist’s best friend, who also was sent to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp but survived and is still alive today.
The story, based on the memoirs of Frank’s friend Hannah Goslar, is told from her perspective. The best friends, shy Hannah and precocious Anne, are separated in 1942, but meet again in 1945 in the concentration camp, where Hannah risks her life to try to save Anne.
The film, budgeted at $3.4 million, is set to start shooting late this year, continuing into early next year, with a release in 2020, the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.
De Jong’s credits as a producer or director include “Left Luggage,” “Enigma,” “All Men Are Mortal,” “Drop Dead Fred” and “Love Is Thicker Than Water.” The script is by Marian Batavier.

The 2019 Meeting sees the biggest presence in terms of gender diversity in the competition’s history. Among directors and producers participating this year, more than 45% are women.
“That wasn’t an intentional decision in filling out the slate,” according to Encuentro representative Samantha Burciaga. However, it is a noteworthy feature of this year’s edition.”
Burciaga also described another trend among the selected projects: “It’s amazing how the filmmakers convey the pain of their people, and the concerns of their communities. The recurring themes of this selection show us nomadic families, the search for the truth in a journey and the breaking of the taboos and comfort zones.”

Lady Gaga (Ally) and Bradley Cooper (Jackson Maine) have now taken to the 91st Annual Academy Awards (Oscars) stage to perform their chart-topping single “Shallow” from the ‘A Star Is Born’ Soundtrack. The single “Shallow” has been conquering the charts, flooding radio stations across the U.S. and is a high demand fan favorite song. Gaga perform the song in a rock version on the 2019 GRAMMYs awards earlier this month and the rendition was fabulous but nothing compares to when actor Bradley Cooper belts out the lyrics to “Shallow” with Gaga live on a televised awards show just as it was within the ‘A Star Is Born’ movie.
This award show performance of “Shallow” is Gaga and Cooper’s first time performing the song live together with the exception of Gaga’s solo GRAMMYs performance or their joint performance at Gaga’s Enigma residency in Las Vegas, so this Oscars...

Less than two weeks ago, Lady Gaga surprised the audience of her Las Vegas residency show Enigma by performing a duet with her A Star Is Born co-star Bradley Cooper. Though the duo's onscreen relationship has caught media attention since its October theatrical release, the film has yet to make strides during awards season.
If a nationally representative sample of Americans were choosing the 61st Grammy awards, however, A Star Is Born would nab a top prize. Some 17 percent of Americans would pick A Star Is Born as record of the year at this year’s Grammys, according to a ...

He might not be getting his own Las Vegas residency anytime soon, but Bradley Cooper sure looked like a pro on stage during “A Star Is Born” co-star Lady Gaga’s “Enigma” show.
Cooper surprised a Vegas crowd last weekend when he joined Gaga for a performance of their hit “Shallow.”
“I could have ran out of there at the last minute, especially after watching her whole show,” Cooper told Variety on the red carpet of the Directors Guild Awards.
“The thing that I was blown away by was that it felt like it was a city stop on a tour. It didn’t feel like people were just sort of strolling in from the casino,” he added. “It really felt like it was during her tour.”

When Bavaria Fiction executive producer Moritz Polter looks out at the company’s backlot from his office window, he can see the original sets built for “Das Boot,” the classic 1981 movie set in the belly of a German U-boat that’s been recently rebooted with stellar results.
The Oscar-nominated anti-war pic, directed by Wolfgang Petersen and based on Lothar-Gunther Buchheim’s autobiographical bestsellers, was the most expensive feature film to come out of postwar Germany at the time; now “Das Boot” has undergone a major refit and resurfaced as one of the country’s most expensive TV shows and a ratings hit wherever it has aired.
Budgeted at roughly $32 million, and shot over 105 days in Munich, La Rochelle, Prague and Malta, the eight-episode series directed by Andreas Prochaska stems from brainstorming among Bavaria Fiction (a subsidiary of Bavaria Film and Zdf Enterprises), paybox Sky Deutschland and Sonar Entertainment, which has...

Be still my A Star Is Born-loving heart. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga finally performed "Shallow" for a lucky Las Vegas audience during Gaga's Enigma residency on Jan. 26, and it's every bit as magical live.
While Gaga usually closes her Vegas show with the Oscar-nominated song, Cooper's appearance was an exciting surprise for fans. He started off the emotional serenade as Gaga knelt by his legs and listened intently. She appeared to tear up after his verse, and quickly moved to the piano to belt out her own part, eventually finishing the song with Cooper sitting at her side.
It's plain to see Gaga and Cooper share a tight-knit bond. The duo have frequently raved about each other in acceptance speeches and interviews. Perhaps this passionate and energetic duet was just a trial run before their much-anticipated Oscars performance? Watch a full video of the song above, and then dive...

On Saturday night during her “Enigma” show in Las Vegas, Lady Gaga and her “A Star Is Born” co-star and director Bradley Cooper were once more Ally and Jackson Maine as they performed their hit “Shallow” for first time before a live audience. The crowd went wild as Cooper made his way to the stage for a surprise twosome with his leading lady.
Consider it a rehearsal for the Oscar telecast next month, as “A Star Is Born” competes in seven categories, including picture, actress, actor and, of course, song, which they will perform live at the Dolby Theatre. They may also be winners tonight as the film is up for four possible trophies at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Here’s the blow-by-blow Vegas stage action:

Sin City looks good on Lady Gaga. On Sunday evening, the pop superstar took the stage inside the Park Theater at the Park MGM resort for opening night of Lady Gaga Jazz and Piano, the second part of her wildly popular Las Vegas residency stint. Unlike Lady Gaga Enigma, which revisits her classic hits through the lens of Gaga's alien alter-ego, the latter production features stripped-down versions of her catalogue and music from The Great American Songbook. A common thread seen throughout Enigma and Jazz and Piano? Gaga's affinity for groundbreaking yet timeless style. From custom Tom Ford to bedazzled Ralph Lauren and every Jimmy Choo...

Lady Gaga criticized Vice President Mike Pence during the singer’s Enigma concert Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Earlier in the week, Pence’s wife Karen revealed she would resume teaching at a Christian school that barred Lgbtq students and employees. Following the uproar over Karen Pence’s role at the school, the vice president responded, “To see major news organizations attacking Christian education is deeply offensive to us.”
On Saturday, during her performance of “Million Reasons,” Gaga slammed Pence for thinking “it’s acceptable that his wife work at a school that bans Lgbtq.

When she isn't winning awards for her talent in A Star Is Born, Lady Gaga can be found in Las Vegas speaking her mind. The singer got political during her Enigma show on Saturday night and doubled down on President Donald Trump as well as Vice President Mike Pence. Gaga also made some blatant digs at Pence's wife, Karen Pence, whose new part-time job struck up some major controversy. Karen Pence recently accepted a role to teach art at Immanuel Christian School in Virginia. Lady Gaga knocked the socks off of pretty much everyone with her tour de force performance in A Star Is Born, which first hit theaters back in October. Now Bradley Cooper's musical drama has won another award for best song, and Gaga's acceptance speech at the Critics' Choice Awards was naturally an emotional, heartfelt affair. Gaga, wearing a truly stunning light pink gown, made sure to call out her costar and director, as well as her cowriters.
"Thank you for this beautiful award. This means the world to us. I'll never forget when we wrote this song together with Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt," the 32-year-old actress told the audience, standing alongside songwriter Anthony Rossomando. "I'll never forget playing it for Bradley for the first time and seeing his face light up and then singing it live together, take after take . . . I was mesmerized both as myself and as my character Ally.

Social media exploded last week when Celine Dion showed up at Lady Gaga’s new Enigma show in Las Vegas. Not only was the “My Heart Will Go On” songstress in the audience, but fans captured her on video dancing like no one was watching.
Later, Gaga posted a photo of her and Dion backstage on her Instagram.
“I would love to write a song for them,” Diane Warren told Variety at the BAFTA La Tea Party yesterday at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. “I’ve already written for both of them.”
She sure has. Warren wrote “Because You Loved Me” for Dion as the theme song for the 1996 film “Up Close and Personal” with Robert Redford and Michelle Pfeiffer. On the Gaga front, the two collaborated on “TiIl It Happens to You” for the 2017 documentary about sexual assault “The Hunting Ground” and most recently, “Why Did You Do That?...

It's undeniable that Lady Gaga is one of the biggest pop stars in the world with some of the catchiest tunes, and on Jan. 1, we received some pretty convincing evidence that further substantiates such a claim. During the singer's Las Vegas residency over the weekend, a fan captured a hilarious video of a stage security guard singing to Gaga's song "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich."
In the video, the fellow Little Monster hits every word in the line, "We just like to party, like to p-p-party, yeah. Bang, bang!" We even get a tiny bit of shoulder action and a subtle sassy neck roll, which tells me that this guy really is a fan and knows how to get down to Mother Monster.
