Bridgerton became a significant hit almost immediately when it debuted on Netflix in late 2020.
The series, created by Chris Van Dusen under the banner of Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland, dealt with the dating machinations of the upper classes in Regency-era England.
The second season arrived on Netflix in 2022, with a spinoff, Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, debuting on the service in the spring of 2023.
Now, the main Bridgerton series is set to return to Netflix with a two-part third season after the show was renewed for third and fourth seasons back in 2021.
The new season will consist of two halves, each lasting four episodes, with the first four arriving on May 16 and the second four on June 13.
Initially set for release in 2023, the third season was delayed to 2024.
While production was complete before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Netflix reportedly did not want to release the show at a time when the actors were not available to promote it.

Lately, Disney has seemed to be throwing together relatively inexpensive “attractions” together to make it seem like they have “big announcements” for Walt Disney World. The most recent attraction has fans split.
Yesterday, a video surfaced of the new “Forces of Nature” show in Epcot’s Inspiration Garden area. Disney released the new show with no announcement.

There’ll be some happy holidays on Prime Video in December, as the streamer’s seasonal offerings hope to keep the fires warm in your home this month!
As such, there are quite a few new original holiday movies coming to the service. At the beginning of the month, Eddie Murphy stars in Candy Cane Lane. In this film, the Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America star plays a determined man who is willing to go above and beyond to win the annual Christmas home decoration contest in his neighborhood – even if it means making a very magical deal.
The DC universe will also be getting festive in December thanks to Merry Little Batman, an animated feature that sees Batman’s son, Damian Wayne, stumble upon a villainous plot on Christmas eve, one that may give him a chance to save the day when his dad isn’t around.

Sandra Bullock is a highly accomplished and versatile actor who can absolutely nail drama, thrillers, and sci-fi just as well as rom-coms. But we do love a Sandy B rom-com!
Her latest, The Lost City, sees her play a romance author who ends up on a jungle adventure with her ditzy cover model, played by Channing Tatum. It’s a very funny, good natured romp that harks back to the romantic blockbusters of the ’80s like Romancing the Stone. And it has reminded us how Sandra Bullock is good for the soul. When you’re a streaming service, there’s only one way to celebrate the New Year. And that’s by IP mining to bring back a franchise that had no business in coming back!
With its list of new releases for January 2022, Hulu is raiding CBS’s closet and premiering How I Met Your Father, a continuation of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Complaints about unnecessary rebooting aside, perhaps its worth giving the Hillary Duff starring series a chance. If nothing else, telling a story about 2022 from a future perspective might play well.
Aside from Himyf, there aren’t any other Hulu original series to speak of. Instead, Hulu is opting to once again beef up its film library. The following The Flash article contains spoilers through Season 7, Episode 15.
The Flash Season 7 Episode 15
The Flash isn’t really the sort of show that does a lot of what you might call long-lead storytelling, so the fact that the show has been teasing the return of villainous speedster Godspeed for over a year is a fairly unprecedented event.
Granted, “Enemy at the Gates” is maybe not the episode that all that build-up deserves, since it tells us precious little about where all the Godspeed clones are coming from or what they want. But it does feature several fantastic fight sequences between Barry, Frost, new Team Flash sort of friend Mark Stevens/Chillblaine, and a half dozen Godspeeds. And though it doesn’t make a ton of sense just yet, it’s still pretty darn entertaining to watch.
Do I have any idea what these goons want from Barry or why...

“Animal Kingdom” is adding four recurring stars to its cast for the TNT drama’s sixth and final season.
Jasper Polish, Kevin Csolak, Darren Mann, and Stevie Lynn Jones will all join the show alongside stars Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary, Finn Cole, Leila George, Rigo Sanchez, and Jon Beavers.

Polish is repped by Buchwald and Management 360.

HBO Max has a major job on its hands to justify its approximately $15 a month subscription fee, especially given the strong competition out there from established names like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Disney Plus faced a similar challenge last year in arriving onto an already-saturated streaming marketplace, but at least had the advantage of major series like The Mandalorian to promote. While HBO Max will eventually be home to the Snyder cut of Justice League, and has some originals for its first week of availability, the big draw right now is its enormous back-catalogue of movies.
Given the various corporate elements that are going into HBO Max, including the Warner Bros. library, owners AT&T will be hoping that the combination of brand recognition for HBO programming, and a deep bench of movies, will convince people to add a new subscription to their list. Do you like lists? Well, here’s a doozy. Below is everything coming to Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu and Amazon Prime in June 2020.
Though the summer sun is starting to beat down, most of us are still being encouraged to stay indoors for Covid-19 related reasons. It’s not much fun, but at the very least, there’s an absolute ton of stuff landing in June that should distract you from the call of the beach.
Of particular note is the newly launched HBO Max, which is trying to catch the eye of potential subscribers with a red-hot first month.
There’s an excellent selection of movies coming on June 1st, with horror titles like An American Werewolf in London (still the best werewolf movie ever made), Final Destinations 1-4, From Dusk til Dawn and Lifeforce.

Welcome to the HBO Max era! WarnerMedia’s streaming giant arrived on May 27 and is absolutely bursting with Warner movies, TV shows, and other titles. But time waits for no man or streaming service and each new month HBO Max will be expected to bring new content to the table. Things get started in June 2020 with the first batch of HBO Max new releases.
To be clear, the majority of the original series coming to HBO Max actually belongs to HBO. Shows like I May Destroy You (June 7), Perry Mason (June 21), and I’ll Be Gone in the Dark (June 28) all belong to HBO…which now just happens to be a part of HBO Max. Confusing stuff, we know, but rest assured that if you have HBO Max you’ll get these shows…and if you only have HBO, you can go ahead and just get HBO Max for the same price anyway.

Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about movie stars and not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones they made in between.
Today we don our phoenix tattoos, we get honest with ourselves, we blaze our very own comeback trail talking Ben Affleck! With his drama The Way Back in theaters, we discuss four past B-Sides you may have missed: 1999’s Sandy Bullock-meets-Ben rom-com Forces of Nature, 2000’s Gwyneth-meets-Ben high-concept romance Bounce, 2002’s Sam Jackson-meets-Ben thriller Changing Lanes and, last-but-least, 2006’s Ben-plays-Superman noir Hollywoodland. In between these B-sides exists the movie star’s career nadir, including Gigli, Paycheck, and Surviving Christmas (which we already discussed in our holiday episode). Conor and I are joined by Marie Bardi (@mariebardi), New York-based producer and avowed Ben Affleck fan.

There’s no question Hulu wants to get its viewers in the Halloween mood — the streaming service will add a fresh slate of horror movies to its collection once October hits. Spooky season is upon us, and Hulu is getting into the spirit with a number of horror or Halloween-themed offerings on its October line-up.
Along with Hulu originals like the horror anthology “Into the Dark” and the second season of Stephen King’s “Castle Rock,” the streamer is also offering films from the “Saw,” “Blade” and “Hellraiser” franchises beginning next month. For the more faint of heart, Hulu is also offering three seasons of Food Network’s “Halloween Wars” and the surely adorable “Kids Halloween Baking Championship.”
Not specifically Halloween-themed, but potentially haunting: All six seasons of the original run of “The Hills” will be available to stream on Oct. 1 for those looking to revisit the halcyon days of reality television and questionable late-aughts fashion.

Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that five original shows will be debuting new episodes on the streaming service in September. Among these are the first seasons of the groundbreaking animated series “Undone,” which will be available in both 4K and Hrd, and the German import “Chris Tall Presentes,” an unscripted series starring the comedian. Another animated series, “Niko And The Sword of Light,” returns for a sophomore season. And “Transparent” will sign off with a sung finale.
The Amazon original film “Late Night” will start streaming justt a few months after its successful theatrical run. Mindy Kaling both wrote and starred in this wry look at the world of TV, with Emma Thompson stealing scenes as the beleaguered host of a failing talk show.

Amazon is out with its list of new additions coming to Prime Video next month, and you’ll want to mark your calendar for the epic musical finale of “Transparent,” coming Sept. 27.
“Chris Tall Presents…” — the first unscripted German Amazon Original which features six episodes of the comedian performing stand-up and introducing his friends as guests — will premiere at a date still to be determined. The same is the case for “Family Man,” a new Amazon Original series which, according to the streaming giant, tells the story of a middle-class man who works for a special cell of the National Investigation Agency.
Other Prime Originals include the first seasons of “El Corazón de Sergio Ramos,” about the Spanish soccer player, and the animated series “Undone.” “Rango,” “Legally Blonde” and “Saturday Night Fever” are among some of the already released movies that will now be available on Prime.

For National Geographic’s 10-part “One Strange Rock” series, executive producer Darren Aronofsky sought to convey the interconnected story of life and survival on Mother Earth, told from the unique, long distance perspectives of eight astronauts. A mash-up, if you will, of astronomy, anthropology, biology, physics, chemistry, and sociology that travels from the macro to the micro — as well as Aronofsky’s eclectic interests.
But for Simon de Glanville, the Emmy-nominated British natural history and documentary cinematographer (“Forces of Nature with Brian Cox”), it was a varied journey of beauty and wonder as visual metaphors for larger, cosmic statements. “Above and beyond the smaller details, there was a desire to shoot actuality stories about real people having real conversations in real places,” he said.

I met Bronwen Hughes (director of “Forces of Nature,” “Harriet the Spy” and “Stander,” as well as episodes of “The L Word” and “Breaking Bad”) on a video call, while she was in Atlanta shooting a TV series. The focus of our conversation was her latest movie, “The Journey Is the Destination,” now streaming on Netflix. The film recounts the true story of Dan Eldon (Ben Schnetzer), who was an incredible artist and a brave, socially active photographer who traveled the world. He died at only 22, in Somalia. However, it feels like he lived more than many other people. Also Read:.

The 1990s: a time when Sleepwalkers, Burt Reynolds, No Escape, Chevy Chase and F/X/2 could top the Us box office...
By the 1990s, studios were waking up to movie marketing, and the era of the blockbuster. Tim Burton's Batman, released in summer 1989, had introduced the idea of a big opening weekend, and modern movies now target their promotional work to get just that. As such, it's harder and harder for smaller films to snare the top slot at the Us box office, even for one weekend.
In the 1990s, particularly the first half of the 1990s, that wasn't so much the case though. In fact, many films that have long since fallen from the public conscious topped the chart. And in this piece, I've tried to capture some of them.

One thing is for sure: I can’t wait for Geoff and Scott to review The Rewrite on the Broken Projector podcast. This upcoming rom-com is about an Oscar-winning screenwriter who is no longer a hotshot and so desperately has to take a job teaching the craft jadedly to college students. The irony is that the screenplay for The Rewrite itself seems awfully bland. The movie comes from Marc Lawrence, who previously wrote such generic non-classics as Miss Congeniality and Forces of Nature and wrote and directed Two Weeks Notice, Music and Lyrics and Did You Hear About the Morgans? The Rewrite is his fourth movie to star Hugh Grant, who plays another unlikable guy who is presumably changed by the love of a woman, a role this time filled by Oscar winner Marisa Tomei. At the start of the new trailer for the movie, we see a YouTube clip of Grant in his floppy-haired days winning...

However, her career has also been litered with several lows, including her Razzie-winning role in All About Steve and those needless sequels to Miss Congeniality and Speed. He may be an acclaimed filmmaker, but even Ben Affleck himself would tell you he's starred in a few flops in his time. From forgettable rom-coms like "Bounce," "Jersey Girl" and "Forces of Nature," to action and horror duds like "Reindeer Games" and "Phantoms", and of course - "Gigli".
Yet in an interview with Playboy, Affleck says that while he'd "probably have two or three" roles he regrets, it's only one failure that still really haunts him - the Marvel superhero film "Daredevil":
"The only movie I actually regret is Daredevil. It just kills me. I love that story, that character, and the fact that it got fucked up the way it did stays with me. Maybe that’s part of the motivation to do Batman."
In fact it's because of Daredevil's failure that he understands the online backlash against him playing Batman:
"I understand I’m at a disadvantage with the internet.

Ben Affleck's enjoyed a career resurgence as well as internet ire of late. Here's a look at a few of his underappreciated films...
Ben Affleck doesn't need us. He's got a directorial career of three strong movies from three outings. He has a movie star spouse. He has two Oscars, one for both his downstairs and upstairs toilet, and he gets to tell his kids that he's Batman without having to lie. I haven't yet had a chance to see "The Heat," but it's one of the summer studio movies I've been looking forward to most this year. Director Paul Feig's "Bridesmaids," if not a home run, made me laugh more than any film of its type in the last couple of years, and I'm a fully paid-up member of the Sandra Bullock fan club. (Why, yes, I do own a "Forces of Nature" DVD. Thanks for asking.) If you haven't been paying attention, this is Bullock's first leading role since winning the Oscar for "The Blind Side" nearly four years ago. Drew...

Director: Ben Affleck. Review: Adam Wing. You couldn’t make it up if you tried. Ben Affleck’s movie career that is, not the plot of this genre defying award winner. The fact that both tales are based on fact only adds to the intrigue, with the star of Gigli and Forces of Nature (remember that?) taking his self-proclaimed ‘second act’ to brand new heights. If Gone Baby Gone and The Town suggested a desire to follow in the footsteps of Eastwood and Clooney, Argo provides proof that one day he might well surpass them. Based on real events, Argo kicks off in 1979 with the Iranian revolution reaching boiling point. In a nail biting opener, militants storm the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking 52 hostages alive. Six Americans escape the chaos and take refuge in the home of Canadian Ambassador Ken Taylor. It’s only a matter of time before...

Here’s another casting story of today: Hugh Grant, known for his male lead roles in many romantic comedies, will return to the romantic comedy genre in his fourth rom-com collaboration with Marc Lawrence.
The untitled picture, also written by Lawrence will begin shooting in New York this April.
In this Hollywood comedy, set
in 1998, Ray Michaels (Grant) was on top of the world — a witty, sexy, Englishman in Hollywood who had just won an Academy Award for Best Screenplay. Fifteen years later, he’s creatively washed up, divorced, and broke. With no other options, he takes a job teaching screenwriting at a small college on the East Coast. Although the idea of teaching is less than thrilling, he hopes to make some easy money and enjoy the favors of impressionable young co-eds. What he doesn’t expect to find is romance with a single mom who’s gone back to school.

As Steven Soderbergh's latest thrusts on to our screens, it's worth noting that – cinematically speaking – male nudity is often stumpy and underwhelming
Steven Soderbergh's new movie Magic Mike has turned greased-up A-list buttocks into cinema gold: the tale of the male stripping fraternity has taken $39m in the Us in its opening weekend. Bare bums are big business, but it hasn't always been this way as a quick glance over the history of the "genre" will tell you.
We all know the nude male form is essentially ridiculous, built only for floppy comedy. Hollywood recognised this quickly, and kept sexy male stripping to a minimum in early cinema. Even by the 1960s, this attitude remained. So when Oliver Reed and Alan Bates got it all out in 1969's Women In Love, their naked frolicking had to be dressed up as "wrestling".
It wasn't until the 1980s that male...
