Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is not off to a good start this year, as the cinematic universe opened 2024 with a majestic flop ‘Madame Web.’ Luckily there are ample opportunities to turn this around since there are two notable releases awaiting us this year, ‘Kraven the Hunter,’ and the final installment of the ‘Venom’ franchise.
Yes, you’ve read that correctly, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ is the final ‘Venom’ movie in the Ssu, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the end of Venom.
According to MyTimeToShineHello, notable scooper and leaker, Venom will appear in ‘Spider-Man 4’ but he won’t be the main villain.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ has become one of the most discussed upcoming MCU projects, fueled by both fan anticipation and a tumultuous production journey. From the hurdles of a SAG-AFTRA strike to clashes in creative visions between showrunners and the studio, the project has faced its share of challenges.
Recently, a release date confirmation was added to the conversation. The show is slated to debut on Disney+ in March 2025, comprising a total of nine episodes. This revelation left fans disappointed, especially considering the initial promises of 18 episodes outlined for the series.
However, it’s worth noting that rumors have circulated suggesting that the show was intended to unfold as a two-part, two-season narrative. This implies that while nine episodes are set for release in March, another nine may follow at a later date. Charlie Cox’s recent remarks further bolster this notion.

We've known for some time now that 2024 is something of a recalibration year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a rough past year for the blockbuster franchise. But with Wolverine & Deadpool just weeks away and X-Men '97 keeping the Marvel flag flying high on Disney+ right now, plans for Kevin Feige and co's big comeback are already well underway. And, during an announcement-laden Disney Upfront presentation yesterday, we got some big release updates for the studio's upcoming slate of Disney+ series.
Firstly, the House of Mouse — not Harkness — confirmed that they've been leading fans a merry dance with the titling of their upcoming WandaVision spin-off series, centred around everyone's favourite badass (and just plain bad) witch. It's not Agatha: House Of Harkness, The Coven Of Chaos, The Darkhold Diaries, or in fact The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe. Turns out it was Agatha All Along, well, all along — cheeky devils!

The MCU has a lineup of upcoming movies, despite Marvel Studios facing challenges with recent projects. There’s been discussion about reducing the number of releases, as fans are growing weary of lower-quality shows and movies. However, Spider-Man continues to be a major draw, consistently delivering profits for Marvel, regardless of the medium.
In the MCU specifically, Spider-Man has had three standalone movies, with a fourth one in the works. This was confirmed months ago by producer Amy Pascal. The sequel’s development was paused during the WGA Strike but has since resumed. In this guide, we’ll summarize everything we know about the upcoming Spider-Man movie.
The plot could either explore the Multiverse or take a street-level direction
‘Spider-Man 3’ introduced the Multiversal theme that the rest of the franchise is now exploring, and although the movie was well-received, there’s been speculation that Feige has different plans for the upcoming installment.

MCU has quite a slate of movies coming up, even though Marvel Studios has hit a rough patch with the last couple of projects. There have been talks about releasing fewer projects, as fans are definitely becoming tired of shows and movies of lower quality; still, if one character always managed to drag people to movies, it’s Spider-Man, by far the most profitable Marvel franchise, no matter the product you’re looking at.
So far, talking about the MCU specifically, Spider-Man has three standalone movies and a fourth on the way. This was confirmed several months ago by producer Amy Pascal, who confirmed that the work on the sequel has been ongoing but stopped due to the solidarity with the ongoing WGA Strike at the time. Now that the development of the movie is back on, we decided to summarize everything we know about it in this comprehensive guide.

Plot: The new live-action event series follows Knuckles on a hilarious and action-packed journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.

The upcoming Daredevil: Born Again is one of the most anticipated entries in Phase 5 of the MCU. After some middling projects and restructuring its upcoming slate, the studio is aiming to win back the audience with well-made, satisfying projects going forward. Charlie Cox is returning as Daredevil along with his partners Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson.

Jon Bernthal was also announced to be returning as the Punisher in the series. While this is exciting news, fans were worried that the grittiness and brutality of the character might be watered down due to the show’s placement in the MCU. However, it seems the show is still going to retain the tone that fans loved as new set photos have shown a bloodied and intense look at Bernthal’s Punisher.

Documentary fans have a lot to be excited about this month on HBO and Max. April begins with the premiere of The Synanon Fix, a docuseries that follows the rise and fall of the cult-like drug rehabilitation program Synanon. The documentary Brandy Hellville and the Cult of Fast Fashion takes a deep-dive into the controversial “one size fits most” clothing brand Brandy Mellville and the impact of fast fashion on the planet.
An American Bombing: The Road to April 19th looks at the surge of political violence and anti-government sentiment that led to the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing, and the effects still felt nearly 30 years later. HBO is also returning with a second part to their popular docuseries The Jinx, with filmmakers continuing their investigation of Robert Durst.

No one who has ever seen the movie Titanic could ever forget the gut-wrenching scene of Rose, portrayed by Kate Winslet, floating on the door of the icy waters. The now-infamous door was recently part of an auction. The Heritage Auctions’ Treasures held an event at Planet Hollywood. That is where the door Kate Winslet made famous was sold.
The Titanic Controversy
The movie Titanic was not without controversy. Surprisingly, people did not sit around debating whether or not the movie starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio was historically correct or not. Instead, fans of the movie debated as to whether or not Jack, the love interest of Rose, could have survived the icy waters on the door.
Even though Titanic was released over two decades ago, fans are still debating as to whether or not Jack had to die. This topic was also a debate during the filming of the movie.

While it may still be in the late development stages at the moment, fans can not help but get excited for the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock in the upcoming MCU series Daredevil: Born Again.

Laughter strikes from all sides in “The Gutter,” the kind of brash and boisterous broad comedy that has largely been missing from multiplexes in recent years. Directors Yassir and Isaiah Lester seem to share a special ability with their main character Walt (Shameik Moore), who has a habit of hitting the central pin in spite of having a different delivery every time he steps up to the line. The same goes for the filmmaking siblings in this hysterical tale of a bowling alley employee who finds he’s better on the lanes than behind the bar.
Although Walt changes things up from a fast-pitch softball-like windup to simply throwing the bowling ball overhand, you just don’t know where a sight gag or a sharp one-liner will hit you when every part of the frame seems like a ripe opportunity for humor. Nothing seems off limits when Walt takes an...

Spider-Man is making a comeback in the cinematic neighborhood soon. This time around, though, he is coming in animation, but the excitement about it is no less. Fans were convinced that Marvel’s 2024 would be a barren desert as the highly anticipated movie Deadpool 3 was the only project scheduled to be released, but luckily that does seem to be the case.
Tom Holland as Spider-Man
Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man must be ringing a bell in the minds of those fans, who were eagerly waiting for the web-slinger to have his animated show. With Disney releasing the logo for the show, fans might wonder about the possibility of any original MCU character appearing in the show, especially since Tom Holland is reportedly not a part of the project.
The one Marvel character that could have made an appearance in the show is Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.

Back in the summer of 2021, the box office was still recovering from the pandemic, and even blockbuster movies hadn't returned to the big screen in an impressive way, especially with HBO Max bringing every new Warner Bros. movie to our homes the same day they hit theaters that year (something that infuriated "Dune" director Denis Villeneuve and pushed Christopher Nolan to take "Oppenheimer" to Universal Pictures). Since then, movies have made more of a comeback, even though comedies are still waning these days. But there was a glimmer of hope that things might get back to normal because we also learned that summer that there was somehow a "Kingpin" sequel in development.
Back in 1996, "Kingpin" followed washed-up professional bowler Roy Munson (Woody Harrelson) as he struggled to get by each day following a hustle gone wrong that took away his bowling hand and left him with a hook instead. Barely able to pay rent,...

Impressed by his work on Cop Car, Marvel brought Jon Watts to helm Spider-Man: Homecoming, starring Tom Holland. Following its success, the director was brought back to craft the next two sequels in the franchise with a much bigger scope than the first one, which was fairly a street-level film. But being a street-level film was one of Homecoming‘s biggest charms, as it helped the movie differentiate itself from other MCU IPs, and Marvel is reportedly looking to go that route again.
However, per reports, Sony was against this idea and wanted the fourth part to follow in No Way Home‘s footsteps by bringing Watts back, but it appears, it isn’t going in Sony’s favor this time.

Everything you need to know about the new movie Ricky Stanicky is on the poster with its stark message plastered right across it: Warning! An R-rated Comedy. Oh, and the fact that it is directed and co-written by Peter Farrelly also tells you a lot. This is undeniably a return to the kinds of outrageous, raunchy, anything-goes style of comedy that made the Farrelly brand a household name with films like Dumb and Dumber, Shallow Hal, Kingpin, Stuck On You and the “Citizen Kane” of the genre, There’s Something About Mary. More recently Farrelly, who also managed to put heart in even the wildest of situations, took his career in a different direction with his wonderful and emotional Oscar-winning Green Book, as well as the terrific true story The Greatest Beer Run Ever which starred Zac Efron. The latter is now reunited with the filmmaker and the results are laugh-out-loud hilarious in Ricky Stanicky,...

It's no secret that studios aren't taking chances on comedies at the box office very often anymore. While "No Hard Feelings" succeeded decently enough last year, the biggest laughs came from the indie and arthouse scene in 2023, and streamers are still the primary place to find new comedies. That's exactly the case with Amazon Prime Video's release of "Ricky Stanicky" (watch the trailer here), the return to comedy from "Green Book" director Peter Farrelly, perhaps better known as one half of the Farrelly Brothers directing duo who brought us big laughs in movies like "Dumb & Dumber," "Kingpin," and "There's Something About Mary."
"Ricky Stanicky" follows Zac Efron (who deserved an Oscar nomination for his all-consuming role in "The Iron Claw"), Andrew Santino (FX's "Dave"), and Jermaine Fowler ("The Blackening") as Dean, Jt, and Wes, a trio of longtime best buddies who have been using a fictional friend as...

Madame Web filmmaker Sj Clarkson is both persistent and prolific. The British director has helmed at least 109 episodes of television from 2001 until now. She cut her teeth to the tune of 37 episodes on a British medical soap known as Doctors, but that experience eventually paved the way for the likes of Dexter, Orange Is the New Black and Succession. (Her first episode of Dexter ended with John Lithgow’s iconic line of, “Hello, Dexter Morgan.”)
In recent years, Clarkson’s efforts to mount projects on a massive scale have tested her patience, as her Naomi Watts-led Game of Thrones prequel pilot, Bloodmoon, didn’t go, nor did her version of Star Trek 4 in 2018. Nevertheless, Clarkson’s feature directorial debut, Madame Web, is now arriving in theaters on Feb. 14, and she never imagined that her first film would take place in a universe that’s related to Spider-Man.

Peter Farrelly made his name in Hollywood by directing raunchy comedies such as "Dumb and Dumber" and "There's Something About Mary" alongside his brother, Bobby Farrelly. Since going solo, however, Peter Farrelly has been making more serious fare such as the Oscar-winning "Green Book." But now, he's back with an R-rated comedy in the form of "Ricky Stanicky." With an A-list cast and a ridiculous premise, it looks like a throwback in every conceivable way. Check out the trailer above for yourself.
Here, Farrelly is re-teaming with Zac Efron, who worked with him on "The Greatest Beer Run Ever." While Efron is coming off of the most serious performance of his career in "The Iron Claw," this sees him going back to his comedic roots, having previously starred in films like "Neighbors" and "Dirty Grandpa." Meanwhile, John Cena is getting to flex his comedic chops as well as the titular character.

Before Alaqua Cox's Maya Lopez fell down the rabbit hole with Vincent D'onofrio's Kingpin, Echo first experienced the tragic loss of her dad.
Cox's character was first introduced as a villain to audiences when she appeared against Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop in the hit Hawkeye series.

Echo, Marvel and Disney’s new five-part limited series, is a groundbreaking piece of television.
This isn’t the same — at least not necessarily — as being a great piece of television, but let’s start by giving credit where credit is due.
Doing an ostensible superhero show — it isn’t always clear that’s what Echo is — in which your protagonist is an Indigenous, deaf amputee will always be steering your vehicle off the paved roads and into uncharted territory. Doing it in a way that respects and honors all three of those outsider experiences without making it feel like you’re working your way down a representational checklist is an audacious and worthwhile thing.
In that respect, Echo is a triumph. It’s a series of moments that alternately had me thinking, “Huh, that feels different and right” and “Huh, I can’t believe somebody was able to do that in a Marvel show.

Tonight, ‘Echo’ debuts on Disney+, marking a significant milestone for the MCU. It stands as the first Marvel Cinematic Universe show under the Marvel Spotlight banner, offering a unique entry point for viewers unfamiliar with the character. The narrative is character-driven, allowing audiences to engage without prior knowledge of related shows or movies. Notably, ‘Echo’ is the first Disney+ show to receive a TV-ma rating, attributed to its intense violence and themes.
Fans anticipate the excitement of Daredevil’s appearance and speculate on the importance of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin in the series. ‘Echo’ diverges from the typical redemption story, showcasing Maya Lopez as a character who started as a villain and remains one throughout the show. Sydney Freeland, the director of ‘Echo,’ explained in a press conference the deliberate decision to take the series in a unique direction compared to other MCU projects.

The time has finally come for Marvel Studios‘ newest outing, which has been collecting hype — good and bad. Echo has a lot on its plate. It will be the first title, which is the launch of the company’s Marvel Spotlight banner. This will be their platform for “more grounded, character-driven stories” that don’t require a knowledge of “larger MCU continuity.” Plus, it has been touted as a more gritty, violent project that would rival previous shows like Daredevil and The Punisher. It will even re-introduce Daredevil and Kingpin in an effort to connect to the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. The review embargo has lifted, and reactions are now hitting social media.

Marvel Studios opened a bit of a can of worms when it announced the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, in the MCU. This is after the studio basically disavowed the events of the Netflix “Daredevil”/“Defenders” continuity when the character was brought back under the Marvel Studios umbrella. Since then, there has been even more confusion with the inclusion of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, as well as reports of Jon Bernthal returning as the Punisher.

Once upon a time, Roger Ebert held that "no movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad." The Stanton-Walsh rule could be violated, as Ebert noted in his scathing review of the unfathomably awful "Wild Wild West," but you only did yourself a favor if you cast one of these gentlemen. The script could be dire and the direction poor, but an appearance from Stanton and/or Walsh was/is – we lost Stanton in 2017, but Walsh is still going strong at 88 years old — only ever a joyous occasion.
The Stanton-Walsh rule applies to other character actors, and I can't think of many performers who've given me more pleasure over the last few decades than Sam Rockwell. He first popped for me in Tom Dicillo's hugely underrated indie comedy "Box of Moonlight" as a ball of non-conformist energy who...

Serving as the MCU’s first live-action spin-off after 2021’s Hawkeye, Echo brings Alaqua Cox back alongside Charlie Cox's Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin.
This series will make history for the MCU in numerous ways. For example, it will debut simultaneously on Disney+ and Hulu, be the first MCU Disney+ series with a TV-ma rating, and utilize a binge-style release strategy with all five episodes dropping the same day.

For a generation of moviegoers, the Farrelly Brothers name means something. Specifically, it means a very pointed combination of gross-out comedy and emotional sentiment — films that are more than happy to dabble in literal excrement and ask you honestly shed a little tear over the characters embarking on some kind of emotional journey. The headlines and the buzz are always about the nastiest gags and grossest moments (she puts what in her hair?), but audiences often who showed up hoping to be appalled often found themselves lulled into something weirdly gentle and sweet. Sometimes, the combination doesn't work at all and the result is an unpleasant, tonal disaster. But when it does work? Well, that's when you get something that feels very specific to Peter and Bobby Farrelly, two of the most memorably mainstream, lowbrow auteurs to emerge from the '90s.
Because there are such extreme highs and lows across the Farrelly filmography,...

It's been 41 years since "Cheers" premiered, and 30 years since it's ended. Although other popular sitcoms like "The Bill Cosby Show" and "Newhart" gave it a run for its money, it's clear by now that "Cheers" has most effectively withstood the test of the time. When the average person thinks of '90s sitcoms, they think of "Friends" or "Seinfeld," but when you ask them to name a sitcom from the '80s, "Cheers" is almost always the first to come to mind.
It helps that so much of the "Cheers" cast has continued to have a major presence in pop culture long after the finale, even if they haven't all returned to the sheer height of popularity they had back in the '80s and early '90s. Daredevil: Born Again star Vincent D'Onofrio addressed recent troubling reports about the MCU and his upcoming Disney+ series.
A new report revealed major troubles behind the scenes of Daredevil: Born Again amid a production shutdown thanks to the Hollywood strikes. Marvel Studios reportedly wasn't fond of the legal procedural direction of the 18-episode show and opted to fire head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman.
The Disney+ Daredevil reboot will bring back Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal's Punisher. Originally set for a Spring 2024 premiere but delayed past that, Born Again has been left searching for new creatives to lead the way behind the camera.

I really don’t want to come down too harshly on this series. On a personal level, it just wasn’t for me, but there clearly is an audience for the character. Before I get into what is good and bad about these two final issues I want to reiterate my two biggest grievances with this series. I have mentioned it in every review of every issue so far, but why couldn’t we get an X-23 mini in the current Krakoan Era? To me, it just makes so much more sense. I only found out the other day that she is now going by Talon in the X-Books! She has been part of X-Men since this era launched so a Fall of X tie-in would have been perfect. All of the stuff...

Steven DeKnight, who served as the showrunner on the first season of Netflix’s “Daredevil,” recently took to social media to criticize Disney for running a scam with its upcoming reboot series “Daredevil: Born Again” (via Entertainment Weekly). The 18-episode series features the returns of Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio and Jon Bernthal, who starred on the original Netflix series as Daredevil, Kingpin and Punisher, respectively.
“It’s an old Disney scam where they slightly rename a series to reset contract terms back to first season,” DeKnight wrote on X/Twitter. “Needs to be addressed by all the guilds/unions and crushed!”
“From what I understand, I’m not going to see a penny from ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ because they added the ‘Born Again’ and can claim it’s a completely different show,” he explained. “You know, with the exact same two lead actors (who I love!) playing Daredevil and Fisk.

According to a new report, Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin will not make his MCU return in 2023.
After making his debut playing the character in Netflix's Daredevil, D'Onofrio reprised his role as Wilson Fisk in 2021's Hawkeye. In the series, it was revealed that the Daredevil villain has acted as a pseudo-uncle to Alaqua Cox's Maya Lopez aka Echo.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting the grand return of Kingpin in the upcoming Disney+ series Echo, wherein he and Maya will reunite after she seemed to partially blind him in the Hawkeye finale.

Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ Daredevil: Born Again reboot just got delayed indefinitely.
The highly anticipated project, which brings back Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, was originally expected to debut its 18-episode season in Spring 2024. However, over the last few months, it’s hit some snags.
For one, despite trying to work its way through the WGA (Writer’s Guild of America) strike, the series ended up shutting production down completely. To make matters worse, there’s now a second strike (from SAG-AFTRA) to add on top of the first—both of which remain unsolved.

As the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue following the failure of the AMPTP to negotiate a fair, non-exploitative contract with either union, the entire entertainment industry has been in flux. Writers went pencils (or Final Draft) down, ensuring no new films or series would have union talent, and not only are actors not performing already-written scripts, but they're also not appearing on press tours, promotional events, or premieres for already-completed projects. It cannot be overstated how vital celebrity interviews can be to the success of a film. "Barbie" recently became one of the highest-grossing movies, ever, and while that success was not single-handedly due to the press tour, all of those bonkers Ryan Gosling press clips certainly didn't hurt.

Summer isn’t over yet but HBO and its streaming arm Max are already moving on to fall. With its list of new releases for August 2023, Max is focusing on football! The American kind, mind you, not the actually footy kind.
August 2023 sees the release of two major football documentaries on HBO and Max. The first is the premiere of Hard Knocks on Aug. 10. The new season of long-running NFL training camp docuseries will center on the New York Jets, new employers of legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers. On Aug. 23, Max will air the aptly named Bs High. The doc tells the stranger-than-fiction story of high school football team Bishop Sycamore, which pulled off one of the more notable sports scams you’re likely to ever hear about.
Not of the football variety but in keeping with the North American sports theme will be season 2 of Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty on Aug.

Before the 2020s, film archivists' worst nightmares were digital degradation or the simple loss of film reels. Now, streaming services have created a new one for them: the purging of original movies and series without a physical release.
HBO Max has been a leading culprit, but Disney+ isn't blameless either. This is, after all, the same company that used to place its movies in the "Disney Vault" during the reign of physical media. It had previously been confirmed that the service would be removing 50 titles on May 26, 2023, including "Willow," "Big Shot," and "Y: The Last Man." However, it's been discovered that another title was unexpectedly included in the purge: "Marvel's Runaways," which is now no longer listed on Hulu or Disney+ (in the U.S. or internationally).
