In “Coyotes Kill for Fun,” the latest from Northwest Missouri indie filmmaker and Sliff favorite Blake Eckard, a backwoods babysitter agrees to help an abused mother of two escape her lunatic boyfriend, but his psychotic brother is headed back to the area, and he has a fraught history with everyone involved. Filmed over three years in Missouri, Montana, and La, “Coyotes” had a long gestation: Two-thirds was first shot back in March 2014, and a trio of cinematographers — Eckard, St. Louisan Cody Stokes, and American-indie legend Jon Jost — passed the baton behind the camera. Despite the prolonged production, “Coyotes” maintains a totally consistent — and utterly original — vision. The film features such Eckard regulars as Tyler Messner,...

In the guarded, analytical world of cinephiles and telephiles, Netflix’s newly implemented “skip credits” button has caused quite a stir. Some argue the convenience is what matters when you’re plowing through a late-night binge, but others contend ignoring who made the content by skipping past their names demeans the art itself.
Still others, well, they don’t care. They just want to watch their favorite Netflix original series without being rudely interrupted by a theme song they’ve heard one too many times or a lengthy opening title card that’s painfully slow.
But what about the exceptions to the norm? What about the shows that benefit from a stylistic, tone-setting introduction? What about series like “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “BoJack Horseman,” for which the opening credits have inspired ringtones and detailed breakdowns of their creation?
Let’s face it: Sometimes the credits are essential to enjoying the series.

With a title like Summer Camp you’d be forgiven for thinking that this film would be yet another stalk and slash fear flick. It isn’t. Helmed by longtime Filmax producer Alberto Marini, in his directorial debut, the film follows similar story beats to some of his most well-known films including the [Rec] franchise and The Last Days.
Looking for fun times as counselors at a European summer camp for children, four Americans never suspect their first experience abroad might be their last. For the rapid-fire spread of an extreme rage-inducing infection plunges the group into a dark vortex of horror and madness catapulting them into a race against time – and each other – to find the source of the mystery contagion and make it out alive.

Baz Lurhmann has written a letter to fans about the cancellation of The Get Down, his Netflix series. My favorite bit because I like having him on the big screen in 2 hour doses:
All sorts of things have been thrown around for the future... even a stage show (can you imagine that? I can, concert version anyone? Next summer? Just saying.) But the simple truth is, I make movies. And the thing with movies is, that when you direct them, there can be nothing else in your life. Since The Get Down stopped, I have actually been spending the last few months preparing my new cinematic work...

Not unlike his new U.S. spy rocket, Elon Musk‘s relationship with Amber Heard is really taking off.
The billionaire tech mogul, 45, and Aquaman actress, 31, have been spending a lot of time together, and a source tells People, “Elon and Amber are already very serious about each other.”
The source adds, “She spends a lot of time at his house and is very comfortable there. Amber’s also gotten to know his kids and spends time with them as well.”
For fun, the source says Musk “takes her on romantic dinner dates and they also love hanging out in Malibu.

Ace director Donald Siegel uses superior direction to transform a so-so who-dunnit into a thrilling big screen spectacle, using the Grand Canyon as a backdrop for A multiple murder set in an Arizona mining town in decline. The cameraman focusing on the scenery and the hair-raising stuntwork — everything we see is real — is the great Burnett Guffey.

Hello, online millennials! Do you recall the ’90s? Bill Clinton was our sax-playing emperor of America (or, as we called it back then, “president”). For fun, instead of shit-posting or hate-scrolling through Twitter we squeezed yogurt into our mouths while skateboarding with cartoon dogs. An app was a thing that came with ranch dressing, the Antarctic ice shelf was still intact, and MTV was still cool. It was a merry decade, where nothing was wrong and everything was fun.
Or at least it would seem that way while watching this surprisingly intricate supercut of ’90s dance scenes, which splices together beloved films like Clerks, Gremlins, The Fifth Element, Pulp Fiction, Jerry Maguire, and, um, Cool As Ice at their most ecstatic moments. While the song choice is unfortunate—Bloodhound Gang’s “The Bad Touch,” a.k.a “We ain’t nothin’ but mammals”—the editing is inspired, cramming 83 different ...

Helping You Choose The Right Company To Sell Your Structured Settlement
In his own movies, Quentin Tarantino has created a world of coincidence, connections, Easter Eggs, and unanswered questions. People love to ponder about the theories and intertwining universes in a Qt movie; it’s great entertainment. He places these things liberally throughout his screenplays, challenging the observant.
He has left a lot of scenes from Pulp Fiction up for interpretation and for people to theorize over. Let’s take a look at a few.
The mysterious 666 briefcase
The mystery of the contents of Marcellus Wallace’s briefcase has raged for years. Some say it’s Elvis’ gold suit from True Romance, others the diamonds from Reservoir Dogs. On September 6th, 1972, five politically motivated Virgin Islanders murdered eight people at the Rockefeller-owned Fountain Valley Golf Course on the island of Saint Croix. Dubbed the Fountain Valley Massacre, the killings put the entire island on lockdown, and after a contentious trial, all five of the defendants were convicted. But on New Years Eve 1984, the group’s ostensible leader Ishmael Muslim Ali (formerly Labeet) hijacked an American Airlines plane and took asylum in Cuba where he still resides today. Now, award-winning director Jamie Kastner goes in depth into the murders, the subsequent trial, and the hijacking in his new documentary “The Skyjacker’s Tale,” which also features Ali’s first interview ever about the catastrophic events. "Why do you think I took you to see all those Police Academy movies? For fun?" Homer once raged at Bart in the Simpsons episode, Marge Be Not Proud. "Well, I didn't hear anyone laughing, did you?"
As it turns out, it wasn't just Homer Simpson who took time out to watch Police Academy movies with his offspring. Speaking at the Democratic National Convention earlier this week, former Us President Bill Clinton revealed that, while he was still in office, he'd taken some time off work to watch Police Academy movies with his daughter Chelsea.

She's got great rhythm." Eve Pollard, who presents the program, gave a glimpse into the queen's favorite artists and songs and insists that her taste is "mainstream, no airs and graces," also revealing that she "enjoys a rousing singsong." Saoirse Ronan, who does such a beautiful job carrying Brooklyn, the film about falling in love with and in a new world, is only 21 years old. Should she be Oscar-nominated in two months time she'll be among the 10 youngest ever so honored in that category. She's the same age now as Marlee Matlin was when she competed for Children of a Lesser God; Matlin won and still holds the title of Youngest Best Actress Winner of all time.
Most 21 year-old Oscar nominees are newbies but not Saoirse. She was nominated at 13 for her role as the tattle-tale sister in Atonement. "I saw it with my own eyes!" Do you ever wonder what Gold Derby editors say to each other (and how they say it) behind the scenes? For fun, here is our email chain from the past 24 hours as I expressed jitters over sticking by my prediction that Eddie Redmayne ("The Theory of Everything") will win Best Actor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards over Michael Keaton ("Birdman"). Responses by Daniel Montgomery, Marcus Dixon and Ralph Galvan below. Tom: Uh-oh, I am the Only “Expert” predicting Eddie for the SAG win and Rob Licuria and I are the only Editors sticking out our necks for him. Granted, this is a tough race to call. Keaton is the “Cooler” choice – and he portrays an actor in this film, which is being judged by other actors for awards. All that may give him an edge. Also, Keaton’s performance is far more artsy. But I’m sticking with Eddie...

Olivia Munn has held a special place in the hearts of gadget geeks since Attack of the Show, and her off-kilter roles (like in Beyond the Break, and the unfortunately short-lived Perfect Couples) have earned her a kind of cult following. Of course, The Newsroom isn’t hurting her status either.
She’s in the upcoming film Mortdecai, playing alongside Johnny Depp as a character with a thing for mustaches, but perhaps more importantly, she’s on the cover of January’s Popular Mechanics, and is hosting The Incredibly Special Effects Awards inside the issue. The awards salute the year’s most stunning technological moments in film, including miniature hotels, digital aliens, lots of fake blood, and Michael Keaton. Receiving awards are – Gone Girl (Best Slaying of the Year), Boyhood (Best Analog Effect) and Interstellar (Achievement in Scientific Accuracy)

She’s a rare combination of devastating beauty and razor-sharp intelligence, so it’s no wonder Olivia Munn is fronting Popular Mechanics' February 2015 issue. The “Newsroom” stunner exudes a blend of charm and sex appeal in her cover story, chatting about her role in the new flick “Mortdecai.”
Olivia shares, “My character has a very strange mustache fetish, so that can derail things sometimes. There's definitely a scene with a horse.”
She also did her own stunts- “I grew up doing karate and gymnastics and everything, so there's a part of me that likes the challenge. Later I had to ride in on this horse at full gallop through a very narrow path and trees coming up over us and land literally on a dime and jump off the horse.”
Ms. Munn also explains that she spent more time with her brothers growing up. “My sisters were always doing makeup and curlers,...

Some of you may be looking at Andy Poon's concept art of Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable) and thinking to yourself, is that Oded Fehr ("The Mummy") or Liam Neeson ("Batman Begins")? If you had either of those thoughts you'd be correct on both accounts. Poon, or as I like to call him Poontang, illustrated his Ra's al Ghul costume designs before the role was cast. For fun, he decided to incorporate the likeness of each actor based on the rumors linking Fehr and Neeson to the part. It does Not in anyway mean they were actually considered. Still neat to look at though. Then there is John Gallagher's awesome Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) costume design, which was not chosen. Boo! Gallagher used elements of the New 52 look for hie Captain Cold design, but producers decided to go in a different direction. The final image below, is...

It started with an impossible poodle. There’s awesome and then there’s mind-blowing. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3Ds on paper is as mind-blowing as it gets for any gamer. This isn’t just a cross-over or a collaboration of a couple of video game characters; this is a game that represents over 20 well-established and memorable franchises into a single game. Mario, Link, Pikachu and even third-party friends Mega Man and Pac-Man have come together to fight it out for no real reason and frankly, who cares! Smash Bros. for 3Ds is the latest installment of a series that comes around with a new release once or twice every decade and all of Nintendo’s marbles are literally put into this one bag. With all the characters from all the different worlds come all of their respective developers and makers — a game with an all-star cast needs an all-star team behind it and that’s exactly what happened here.

Pitt and Affleck go head to head to see who's the biggest star!

Between the two, Fury blew Gone Girl out of the top spot with a $23.5 million dollar bow, which was still smaller than Gone Girl's first weekend ($35.5 million) or even it's second ($26.4 million.)
Clearly, the films are well-matched adversaries, but how about Pitt and Affleck as performers? How do they stack up? Well, this week's Celebrity Showdown is here to answer that question once and for all.

Miniaturizing the indomitable Super Smash Bros. brand is no small task, and were it not for Nintendo’s sterling reputation with first party titles made for its own hardware, I’d be hard pressed to believe it could be properly done. After all, disappointment at a game’s translation to mobile is nothing new. Ever play Ssx Tricky on the Gba? I’m pretty sure my younger self cried for weeks.
Instead, what Masahiro Sakurai and Sora Ltd. have managed to pull off (with a little help from Namco Bandai) on 3Ds is nothing short of remarkable, and though I do think there’s still room for the Wii U version when it hits later this holiday season, Super Smash Bros. A slew of classic Disney movies are hitting for the first time on Blu-Ray, including one double-pack release, and you’re going to want to make sure to pick these up. You haven’t paid attention to some of these titles for a while, and it’s about time you got the chance to catch them on Blu-Ray. The best part is that there’s a great mix of releases hitting. Bedknobs and Broomsticks is all but lost in the cultural consciousness, and it deserves a return. The Academy Award-winning movie from the year I was born is filled with a lot of fun and adventure, and like most Disney films, holds up well for a whole new generation.

The most popular theory is that it’s Marcellus Wallace’s soul, hence the case’s glow, the Band-Aid on the back of Wallace’s head (where the soul is removed) and the combination – 666.

On Tuesday April 8, 2014, a special Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3Ds focused edition of Nintendo Direct gave fans a healthy batch of noteworthy news. First, the release dates for both the Wii U and 3Ds versions of the game have been announced as Winter 2014 and Summer 2014, respectively. That isn’t very big news as we already knew it should be arriving sometime this year, but having vastly different release dates should give players more of a reason to pick up the 3Ds version until the Wii U version arrives.
The 3Ds version will run at a consistent 60 Fps with some details such as trophies will running at 30 Fps. Both versions will tout online play and some new details on the online play for the Wii U version have been released. Players can now jump into a For Fun mode or For Glory mode when playing online with strangers. For Fun...

How beloved was "Police Academy"? The cop comedy, which opened 30 years ago this month (March 23, 1984), didn't just make stars out of Steve Guttenberg and Michael Winslow and launch a franchise that lasted through seven movies and two TV series. It also became such a pop cultural touchstone that it earned a mention in a 1995 "Simpsons" episode, where Homer, angry at Bart for stealing, bellows, "We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to see all those 'Police Academy' movies? For fun? Well I didn't hear anybody laughing. Did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects." At which point Homer gets lost doing a Winslow impression....
Where was I? Oh yeah, how beloved was "Police Academy"? So much so that, even though there's been no new product since the 1997 live-action series, there have been reports for a decade that an eighth...

The ending of any film, like a TV show, has to leave you satisfied, without too many unanswered questions. You don’t want to feel that you have wasted hours (or in the case of television shows, years) of your life. Get it right and you’ll remember everything that was great about the film. Get it wrong and the chances are you’ll only remember that bad final scene.
Sometimes a great ending can elevate a film. The ending of Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines was great because we didn’t see it coming. It turned the film from a not-as-good rehash of Terminator 2: Judgement Day into a tragic story where our heroes were unable to save mankind, despite all their efforts.
At the other end of the scale are terrible endings that ruin great films. There’s nothing more unsatisfying then enjoying a film...

Taylor Swift didn’t let Tina and Amy’s jab get her down at the 71st Annual Golden Globes — she didn’t even notice it at first, a source close to the singer told HollywoodLife.com exclusively!

Taylor Swift Reacts To Golden Globe Diss
Here’s a little background to fill you in on the diss war. In 2013, Tina and Amy joked that Taylor should stay away from Michael J. Fox‘s son. This clearly angered Taylor, since she later told Vanity Fair that there was a ”special place in Hell” for women who bash other women, when asked about the incident.

One of my favorite Oscar traditions is the New York Times short films celebrating Oscar contenders, locked contenders and longshots alike. And by short films I mean very very short. Like one minute. You might remember that previous year's editions have given Casting Directors a ton of brilliant ideas which, for the most part, they've been slow to pick up on like Viola Davis as a frightening villain. Winston barely survives though. So that's a bit less inspirational.
Jess dives into despair, a place full of Msg
Reeling from the news that a planned field trip to the ocean can't happen because of a lack of transportation, Jess vents her frustration on the millions of Chinese restaurant menus left at the loft door. This is what is called "borrowing from reality," in case you were wondering. Anyone who lives in an apartment knows full well that menus breed like bunny rabbits and cockroaches, rapidly approaching critical population thresholds in a disturbingly short amount of time.
Jess is mostly upset because this...
