Updated: There has been another round of content removal from Disney+, this time in the Emea region, which consists of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. More than 120 titles have been taken off this week, primarily Disney Channel original movies and vintage Disney live-action films, as well as a few series, including Zeke and Luther, Pepper Ann, So Random and the first three seasons of Nat Geo’s Genius and ESPN/Nat Geo docs.
According to sources, the takedowns were a result of a library title review. There have been several content purges at Disney+ over the last year amid cost-cutting, most notably the removal of a slew of original series last May.
Here is a list of movie titles that are said to be gone from Disney+ in Emea, compiled by Drew Ryan.

The American MonsterVerse has its issues, like underwhelming human stories — especially compared to the Japanese "Godzilla" movies — but it does deliver on the big-budget kaiju action and worldbuilding. These movies present the kind of awesome destruction that can only be achieved by spending hundreds of millions of dollars, and it rules. Meanwhile, where most of the Japanese "Godzilla" movies are only loosely connected, the MonsterVerse has created a proper continuity of kaiju mayhem.
The MonsterVerse is full of strange creatures and locations connected through the outlandish concept of the Hollow Earth (a thing that raises twice as many questions as it even begins to answer). Sure, Godzilla and Kong are the stars, but there are so many other kaiju and critters that have got their time to shine, whether it's Japanese icons like Mothra and Ghidora, or new kaiju like Titanus Doug. Prior to the debut of "Futurama" in 1999, preeminent voice actor Billy West was already a towering presence in his field. He had previously played Doug Funnie in the hit Nickelodeon series "Doug," in addition to voicing the Larry Fine-like Stimpson J. Cat on "The Ren & Stimpy Show" opposite show creator John Kricfalusi. When Kricfalusi was fired for missing deadlines, West took over the role, playing both leads for the bulk of the series. West also played Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in the 1996 oddity "Space Jam" and has voiced the Honey Nut Cheerios Bee and the Red M&m in myriad TV commercials.
In the normal course of seeking more work, sometime in the late '90s, West found himself in front of the casting directors for Matt Groening's and David X. Cohen's new sci-fi sitcom. West, of course, would be cast in multiple roles for "Futurama,...

Earlier this year, Disney released Prom Pact on Disney+ and audiences quickly noticed the inclusion of some very creepy digital extras that look like Sims characters. Flash forward a few months, and SAG-AFTRA has gone on strike, with one of their biggest beefs having to do with studios taking digital scans of actors to use however they see fit until the end of time.
Those creepy digital extras that Disney included in Prom Pact have gone viral once again, with SAG-AFTRA supporters using it as an example of what they’re fighting against.

The slasher-comedy Totally Killer is on the way from Blumhouse and Amazon Studios, and we’ve learned this morning that the film will be released in time for Halloween.
Totally Killer hits Prime Video on October 6, 2023! The film is rated “R” for “Bloody violence, language, sexual material, and teen drug/alcohol use.”
While you wait for a trailer, check out a gallery of first-look images below.
Totally Killer sounds quite a bit like the brilliant slasher-comedy The Final Girls, similarly transporting characters back in time and putting them inside of a classic 80s slasher setup.
The film is a continuation of the deal forged by Blumhouse and Amazon Studios in 2019 and will star Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Mad Men), Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer), Julie Bowen (Modern Family, Life of the Party), and Randall Park (Always Be My Maybe, Fresh off the Boat). Théo Jollet's Meet Doug is now showing exclusively on Mubi starting July 12, 2023, in the series Brief Encounters.I've always been fascinated by the spaces where I grew up, wedged between the average town and the countryside. I spent my teenage years around municipal football pitches, snack bars and other multi-purpose halls. The way that these human traces, concreted and poorly maintained, come in direct contact with forests, rivers, and peat bogs, all form the ground that nurtures the imagination of my films. Later on, I met Martin Maire and Thomas Trichet, with whom I still work actively on a number of projects, including Meet Doug. Together we discovered works such as Nicolas Winding Refn's Pusher trilogy, and shows such as The Wire by David Simon and Ed Burns, or The Sopranos by David Chase. These early inspirations gave rise to Doug, a young loser, delinquent through petty crime,...

'90s Nicktoons were a special era of animation. Shows like "Rugrats," "The Wild Thornberries," and "Doug" offered colorful, funny stories for kids, but if you watched them long enough, they also occasionally told heartfelt stories with a purpose. Few of those sincere stories have held a place in viewers' hearts and minds decades later quite like "Arnold's Christmas," the "Hey Arnold" holiday special that shared the heartbreaking backstory of one of its characters.
"Arnold's Christmas" aired during the show's first season in 1996, and a simple plot about a Secret Santa gift exchange gave way to one of the series' most emotional...

Made by “Marcella” producer Buccaneer Media as an original for AMC’s BritBox rival Acorn TV, “Whitstable Pearl” has all the ingredients of a travel-friendly crime series with a female lead in a picturesque English town.
And while the six part, 45-minute series slots in neatly with the streamer’s other small town crime canon, including Cotswold’s based “Agatha Raisin” and “Queens of Mystery,” Buccaneer execs Tony Wood and Anna Burns were keen to give the seaside town of Whitstable a Scandinavian edge.
Enter Norwegian filmmaker Øystein Karlsen, whose writing/directing credits include hit dark comedy dramas “Dag,” “Exit” and “Lilyhammer,” who was duly drafted in to adapt Julie Wassmer’s series of seaside mystery novels.
Karlsen’s vision for the show, based on Wassmer’s stories, he says, was “a whodunit served on a bed of warm interpersonal drama sprinkled with black humor.”

On Aug. 5, Comedy Central announced a reboot to the classic 1991 cartoon The Ren & Stimpy Show. The show’s initial airing, as one of the three original Nicktoons (alongside Doug and Rugrats), was a milestone in cartoon television history, with its purposely crude yet dynamic visuals and heavily exaggerated animation and aesthetics. It also had a deeply complicated run. Ren & Stimpy was controversial both in public and behind the scenes and its sordid history includes creator John Kricfalusi’s inability to complete episodes on time, episodes Nick edited down or refused to air, and the criticisms of the show’s most disturbing aspects. Nevertheless the show was able to cement itself with a passionate, dedicated cult following.
That sordid history, however, reached an impassable point in 2018 when Buzzfeed reported a grotesque expose on Kricfalusi, and his grooming and dating of a 16-year-old girl during the show’s production. Before this point,...

Comedy Central announced on Wednesday that it is reimagining the 1990s cult animated series. The original “Ren & Stimpy” centered on the exploits of a dog and cat duo and debuted on Nickelodeon in 1991 along with two other animated series, “Rugrats” and “Doug.”But with it’s dark humor and themes “Ren & Stimpy” was considered more of an adult series than a children’s show.” We are excited to reinvent this iconic franchise with a new creative team and our partners at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio,” Chris McCarthy, president of ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group, said in a statement.” ‘Ren & Stimpy’ joins our rapidly expanding roster of adult animation including ‘South Park,’ ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ and ‘Clone High’ as we continue to reimagine our treasure chest of beloved IP for new generations.” According to a ViacomCBS executive, “The Ren & Stimpy Show” creator John Kricfalusi has no involvement with the new show.

Comedy Central is shaping up to be one of the television industry’s leaders in new adult animation: The network has announced a reimagining of the cult classic “The Ren & Stimpy Show” as part of its greater overall push into the genre.
The original “The Ren & Stimpy Show” premiered on Nickelodeon in 1991, the same year the network debuted classic kids shows such as “Rugrats” and “Doug.” Though “The Ren & Stimpy Show” was not explicitly aimed at adults, the show was full of dark humor, raunchy sex jokes, and other mature content, which generated some controversy. The series nonetheless was widely praised during its five-season run and remembered as one of Nickelodeon’s standout ’90s shows.

Sure, the platform’s original films haven’t exactly blown anyone away, but shows like The Mandalorian and The World According to Jeff Goldblum have resonated with the company’s core fanbase.

Hollywood’s landscape has changed dramatically since Viacom and CBS were last married in 2005. Now that the two media giants seek a Wall Street reunion, there are endless possibilities for the future of its shared content pie.
Huge action franchises like “Mission: Impossible” and “Transformers” from Paramount Pictures could explore new origin stories or exploit quirky side-characters for streaming series on the CBS over-the-top platform All Access. All Access is also currently building out the “Star Trek” TV universe, with three shows under the franchise’s umbrella set to be on the streaming service in 2020. Signs of synergy are already cropping up as well. CBS, which owns the TV licensing rights to “Star Trek,” gave its blessing for a cartoon take on the sci-fi classic at Nickelodeon this year.

Emmy voters often love Oscar winning movie stars like Nicole Kidman (“Big Little Lies”), Jessica Lange (“American Horror Story”), and many more. And this year could see more Oscar champs claim TV’s biggest prize, including Al Pacino (“Paterno”) and Penelope Cruz (“The Assassination of Gianni Versace”). But as television programming continues to expand with cable and streaming the small screen has become a playground for Oscar favorites behind the camera as well. So how many this year will make the cut?
David Fincher has been nominated for two Oscars for Best Director (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “The Social Network”), and he’s already an Emmy winner for directing the premiere episode of “House of Cards.” But while that political drama sits out this Emmy cycle (its sixth and final season won’t premiere until later this year), Fincher has another Netflix series in the running: “Mindhunter,...

When I was a kid, Nickelodeon's Doug was my favorite TV show I'd ever seen. The unique characters, imaginative daydreams, and pining romance all hit me at exactly the right time in my life, and I know it left a big impact on a lot of people who grew up watching it.
Great Big Story sat down with Fred Newman, the voice actor who provided the show's theme song and those "chicka-ba-dah" noises you'd hear as it came back from a commercial break. But what really blew my mind is the fact that he also did the voice for Skeeter, Mr. Dink, and Porkchop the dog. Are you kidding me? This guy was the voice of Skeeter? I still can't wrap my head around that. Take a look for yourself below.
Start humming the opening theme to Nickelodeon's classic “Doug,” and any self-respecting '90s kid will surely join right in.

On Monday, news broke about all about the possibilities for rebooting the original Nicktoons. Rugrats folks are in. Ren & Stimpy, not quite. And then there's Doug. Both the character Doug and the eponymous series itself have always seemed to exist at the whims of other, more powerful people – and as such, series creator Jim Jinkins says the show's current rights-holder, Disney, doesn't seem to have much interest in bringing Doug back for more Bluffington bliss.
But Jinkins certainly hopes Disney changes its mind, and he's fully prepared for when they do.

"Maybe if I wrote it like a book and put it out there, Disney would give me permission to do tha...I keep qualifying it, I guess out of being a cock-eyed optimist, but right now they explained they’re not interested in moving Doug forward. In the past, they have expressed interest in a play. Now, that would be a great play. So, I don’t know! But I do think I have a great story for fans to get a feel for where Doug is headed, and I thought that would be an awesome thing to deliver.

There's a long history of grown-ups trying to make educational materials entertaining. However, there's also a long history of most of these efforts turning out to be heavy on the education, light on the fun. A morning full of eye-opening surprises, the nominations for the 22nd Screen Actors Guild nominations were announced.
The standout nods were the inclusion of Straight Outta Compton, Beasts Of No Nation, Sarah Silverman, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Idris Elba and two for Dame Helen Mirren.
Not among the perceived hopefuls called were Sylvester Stallone, Charlotte Rampling, Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, The Martian and The Hateful Eight.
Two nominating panels – one for television and one for film – each composed of 2,200 randomly selected union members from across the United States, chose this year’s nominees.
Some of the Sags choices were head-scratchers to be sure, but we’re thinking that the Oscar picks may be very different when The Academy announces their nominations next month live on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 5:30 a.m. Pt at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Hollywood blacklist drama Trumbo has led the nominations for the 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards with three nods for lead actor Bryan Cranston, supporting actress Helen Mirren and the ensemble cast. The Martian and The Hateful Eight were shut out.
Set in 1947, the film centres on Dalton Trumbo (Cranston), who was Hollywood’s top screenwriter, until he and other artists were jailed and blacklisted for their political beliefs.
Cranston will go up against Johnny Depp for Black Mass, Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant, Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs and Eddie Redmayne for The Danish Girl.
Films that secured two nominations included Beasts Of No Nation, The Big Short, Carol, The Danish Girl, Room, Spotlight - whose outstanding cast nod will only strengthen its status as best picture Oscar frontrunner — and Steve Jobs.

The 22nd annual SAG Awards nominations were announced this morning and it's full of surprises! Sylvester Stallone, loved by critics and the National Board of Review for his performance in "Creed," was ignored. So was Kristen Stewart's supporting performance in "Clouds of Sils Maria." Matt Damon, who was so good and carried "The Martian" from start to finish, was also missing from the list.
But here's what I love about the SAG noms. First, Sarah Silverman's first dramatic performance in "I Smile Back" was embraced. And I'm also happy with the inclusion of "Room's" Brie Larson and the fantastic child actor, Jacob Tremblay. The endearing "Carol" also received noms for both Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, and Saoirse Ronan's performance in the beautiful "Brooklyn" also received a nomination.

Nominees for the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were unveiled this morning in Hollywood, with a fair amount of surprises to be had. Leading the pack is Trumbo, which picked up three nominations, then a large batch of films behind it with two each: Beasts of No Nation, The Big Short, Carol, The Danish Girl, Room, Spotlight, and Steve Jobs.
Perhaps most surprising is no mention of The Hateful Eight, which has one of the year’s best ensembles. Also of questionable note is the inclusion of Helen Mirren for Woman in Gold, a film all but forgotten (we suppose Harvey Weinstein’s campaigning indeed worked). There’s also the welcome nods to Michael Shannon in 99 Homes and Sarah Silverman in I Smile Back, as well as an ensemble nod to Straight Outta Compton. Check out the full list of nominees below ahead of the ceremony on Saturday, Jan.

New Form Digital has turned to a book for inspiration for its next web series. The digital content studio, founded by filmmakers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer in conjunction with Discovery, has officially optioned the novel Being Audrey Hepburn for adaptation into a digital series.
Written by Mitchell Kriegman, Being Audrey Hepburn tells the story of an underprivileged teen girl named Lisbeth whose life changes after she tries on the little black dress Hepburn wore in the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. New Form Digital plans to take the Being Audrey Hepburn book and turn it into a 12-part series, much in the way Bernie Su and Pemberley Digital have turned Jane Austen novels into Emmy-winning digital series.
