The cockpits of the helicopters are always closed by crew before liftoff. Yet when Jake starts alone to hold off the drones, his cockpit canopy is open and there is no explanation as to how it gets closed.
It is interesting that the defense force on Moon 44 chose helicopters as their primary vehicle. Most planetary moons have very little atmosphere - an environment in which helicopters (which rely upon air/gases for their lift) would be completely useless. In a possible defense of the filmmakers, Moon 44's atmosphere is portrayed as dense and mist-like, possibly similar to that of Saturn's large moon, Titan, which could theoretically support aerodynamic flight.
There are multiple shots of enemy spaceships that were shot on spherical lenses and have thus been incorrectly desqueezed to fit in the rest of the film's anamorphic 2.35:1 aspect ratio.
Many shots of enemy drones, rotating helicopter blades etc. are used multiple times.
When the Pirite drones finally attack Moon 44, only Stone takes a helicopter to confront them. The base is filled with choppers and pilots able to use them, but everybody else just hang with Stone's navigator (Tyler) waiting for him to save the day. Funnily enough, the inmates crew was there precisely to defend the base from these drone attacks, that's the whole point of the movie.
When Marc kills Scooter he is consequently sent to jail. However, Jake and Cookie try to kill Stone just a few minutes earlier and nothing happens whatsoever, nor anybody seems to care. Morgan complains about the choppers being armed to start with, but there is no punishment and no investigation, as if it is completely normal that a pilot and his navigator try to kill a colleague.
