- The U.S print was cut to receive an R-rating with edits to shots of severed legs in a meat grinder, Max's electrocution scene, the staircase fight and some bloody shootings. The UK Anchor Bay DVD (in the "House Collection" box set) featured the cut print though earlier UK video releases plus the Hollywood DVD budget release all feature the full unrated print.
- Despite the "Not under 18" rating in Germany, it was still cut by a minute to reduce violence in a few scenes and also avoid being indexed by the SPIO/JK. The "Not under 16" rated version is further cut by an additional four minutes to have all violent moments cut, making it unwatchable. Only in 2023 was this censorship waived and the FSK granted the unrated version a "Not under 16" rating.
