In the scene where Mike is buying the torch at the hardware store, you can see a man in the background holding a stainless steel sink. This a reference to Director Bill Forsyth's first movie, That Sinking Feeling (1979), about a bunch of kids who decide to break into a stainless steel sink factory.
The scene where Sam sees the girl sitting in the cafe is the mirror image of the famous painting Nighthawks. The difference is that the girl's back is turned as he's seeing her inside as opposed to a man's back.
Debut of actress Lorraine Toussaint.
Not only is Burt Reynolds playing older, he plays a character who is balding; he usually infamously uses a noticeable hairpiece.
