On “So You Think You Can Dance” season 18, “Challenge #1: Music Videos” led to the ousters of two female finalists: Avery Gay and Olivia Alboher. Then in “Challenge #2: Broadway,” two male contestants got the boot: Roman Nevinchanyi and Braylon Browner. That left six contestants to compete in “Challenge #3: Movies”: Madison Alvarado, Anthony Curley, Mariyah Hawkins, Easton Magliarditi, Jaylin Sanders and Dakayla Wilson. So what happened when they left the stage behind and headed for the big screen?
“It’s time to pull up a chair and grab some popcorn because it’s movie week,” says Cat Deeley at the start of the episode following a “Breakfast Club”-esque cinematic hip-hop dance routine with the top six portraying students in Saturday detention. But just barely escaping detention last week were Anthony and Dakayla, who were in the bottom four but survived the dance-off.

Kevin Bacon, dancing away, in 4K? Footloose is coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK, it’s been confirmed.
Paramount Pictures is wasting little time sorting new catalogue releases for the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format in 2024, with the news that the 1980s hit Footloose is heading to the format.
Already confirmed in America, a UK release has now been earmarked for February 12th 2024, and the film has gone up for order now. You can find it here.
Initially, it’s only available as a Steelbook release, although it’s expected that a regular 4K disc package isn’t far away. It’s the original film, incidentally, that’s getting the release, and not the remake.
Update: The regular, cheaper release is now confirmed for 13th May 2024. You can find it here.
Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer, Dianne Wiest and John Lithgow thus take the lead roles here, with Herbert Ross behind the camera.

Huey Lewis stopped by The Daily Show to discuss the new Broadway jukebox musical featuring Huey Lewis and the News hits, The Heart of Rock and Roll (get tickets here). Along the way, he played a game of “Fuck, Marry, Kill” with classic ’80s albums.
With host Jordan Klepper — who has stepped in for the newly-returned John Stewart for the rest of the week — Huey was given the choice to “Fuck, Marry, Kill” the four albums that went number one in 1984.
He was presented with Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Prince’s Purple Rain, Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA, and Kenny Loggins’ Footloose. Kevin Bacon is going back to the school where Footloose was filmed.
The iconic movie, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of its release this year, was filmed in Payson, Utah. For those few unfamiliar with it, Bacon plays Ren McCormack, a teenager from Chicago who moves to a small town. There he attempts to overturn a ban on dancing imposed by a local minister (John Lithgow).
Payson’s students have been lobbying Bacon to attend this year’s prom, which will be the last there as the school will be relocating at the end of the academic year.
The effort has paid off, and Bacon will visit during the day of the prom, although he won’t be cutting the rug that night at the actual event.
Bacon announced his plans by calling in from Atlanta while students filled the school gym. The gym erupted in cheers.

Kevin Bacon just revealed he will be going to a high school prom this year. The prom will not be at an ordinary high school. This high school is the one the talented actor helped to make famous about 40 years ago.
Payson High School Is The Lucky High School
Payson High School has been one lucky high school for almost half a century. This is the school where Kevin Bacon will be attending their prom later this year. The high school extended the invitation to their prom and the famous movie star gladly accepted.
“Thank you, thank you, I’m gonna come,” Kevin Bacon stated. “I gotta come!”
Many are probably wondering why Payson High School in Payson, Utah would be inviting Kevin Bacon to their prom. The answer is simple. Kevin Bacon made the high school famous. It was in Payson, Utah, at this very high school, where he filmed Footloose.

Think of Louisiana, and the debauchery of Mardi Gras comes easily to mind. But in the northwest corner of the state — closer to Dallas than to New Orleans, the Red River than the Mississippi — sits the town of Minden, about 30 miles from Shreveport. This is deep-red America, part of a tri-state region known as Ark-la-Tex, and arguably the buckle of the Bible Belt.
Minden is a pious place, counting more than 20 Baptist congregations alone, and it entered the 21st century still embracing a tradition of forbidding alcohol.

Lynne Marta, an actor who maintained a steady and prolific TV and film career for nearly 40 years best known for roles on Love, American Style and the 1984 film Footloose, died of cancer in Los Angeles January 11. She was 78.
Calling Marta “a beautiful light,” the actor’s friend Joan Sobel wrote on Facebook, “My friend, Lynne Marta lost her good fight. A wonderfully talented actress and a beautiful singer whose voice was of the angels. A dear heart who adored her friends both human and furry. I will miss her terribly.”
Born on October 30, 1945, in Somerville, NJ, Marta began her TV career in 1966 with appearances on Gidget and The Monkees, and relatively few years went by without a film or TV credit through her 2004 role in an episode of the NBC drama series American Dreams. She appeared in 24 episodes of the soap Days of Our Lives between 1983 and 2003.

“We are therefore very proud that we are continually recognizing some of the culturally most important songwriters of all time and that the 2024 slate represents not just iconic songs but also diversity and unity across genres, ethnicity and gender, songwriters who have enriched our lives and literally...

When "Cheers" returned to NBC's airwaves for its third season, viewers were desperate to see how bartender Sam Malone (Ted Danson) and Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) had handled their breakup at the conclusion of the previous season's finale. Had they moved on or possibly reconciled?
The answer was a little more complicated than perhaps many fans expected.
Recovering alcoholic Sam was back on the sauce and carousing with self-destructive abandon. Diane was, as ever, Diane, but she couldn't bear to see Sam in such a rough way. She didn't want to get back together with him, certainly not while he was scraping rock bottom, but she still cared about her ex. She needed to see him in at least a semi-functional state. She needed to get him help. And she believed she knew just the man who could throw him a lifeline.
That man, of course, was psychiatrist Frasier Crane.
