Falling in Love Like in Movies is a movie that feels almost too personal to explain. When we think about love, everyone has their own take on it, right? And that’s exactly the case for Bagus and Hana, the main characters. They’ve got completely different views on love. Bagus is a screenwriter with a serious crush on Hana. He’s all about writing his love story from his point of view. But Hana’s dealing with some heavy personal stuff. She’s recently lost her husband and thinks she’ll never fall in love again. She’s closed off to the idea of giving love another shot. And you know what? That’s totally normal! But Bagus—he’s not having it. He’s ignoring her feelings and trying to convince her to move on like it’s a piece of cake. But let’s be real: love’s anything but simple,...

Kylie Minogue is currently on her More Than Just a Residency residency in Las Vegas.
It began in November last year and is scheduled to run until early May.
This isn’t the first time Minogue has performed in Las Vegas, as she recalled during a Los Angeles press conference that she had “performed a couple of times but as part of a tour.”
Speaking on what she planned her residency to be, Minogue said, “I want it to be the kind of essence of what a Kylie show has become, enough glamour and abandon. I’ve got some versions of songs that have not been heard, like reinterpretations of songs, which is exciting.”
“Live bed dances, amazing costumes. That’s the base and then we’ll see what surprises we can come up with,” she added.
The residency supports Minogue’s latest album, Tension, which was released on September...

One of the most memorable and heartfelt ways to tell someone you're falling in love with them is through a cute love song. Even if you're not into writing your own tune, sharing a Spotify playlist full of songs about soulmates, songs about love at first sight, and songs about saying, "I love you," is a sweet and low-pressure way to get your feelings across. And thankfully, there is a wealth of songs about falling in love out there - across all genres - to show someone just how much you care for them.
The best love song, however, is the tune that resonates the most with you and your partner. So whether you prefer a slow, romantic ballad, a sexy song, or a song that's more upbeat, your love interest is certain to be falling just as hard for you after giving it a listen.

1996 was a dark year for The Italian Stallion. Sylvester Stallone had two pricey flops in 1995, with Judge Dredd and Assassins. His Christmas of 1996 disaster movie release, Daylight, was another box office bomb. Just a few years before, Stallone had made a significant comeback with Cliffhanger and Demolition Man, but now the whole industry was changing. Carolco, the company that financed some of the era’s biggest hits, had gone bankrupt, and action movies were getting smaller and smaller. Arnold Schwarzenegger was on the decline, with Eraser a smaller hit than usual. Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal were only a few years away from making direct-to-video movies. What was Sly to do? The result is one of his very best movies –Cop Land – as we explore in the episode of Sylvester Stallone Revisited.

Ahed’s Knee (Nadav Lapid)
It’s always interesting, at the beginning of any Nadav Lapid film, to note the myriad Israeli institutions that have backed the project. Since Emile’s Girlfriend (2006), Lapid’s work has sought to make sense of Israeli society—his criticisms a byproduct of attempting to articulate the confusion and warring arguments in his own head. Having won Berlin’s Golden Bear with Synonyms in 2019, Lapid could claim to be the most renowned Israeli filmmaker of his generation. That his work is at risk of falling afoul of that same state speaks volumes about the country’s ever-increasing authoritarianism as a whole. Further confirmation of that renown came with news that his latest would compete for the Palme...

May on the Criterion Channel will be good to the auteurs. In fact they’re giving Richard Linklater better treatment than the distributor of his last film, with a 13-title retrospective mixing usual suspects—the Before trilogy, Boyhood, Slacker—with some truly off the beaten track. There’s a few shorts I haven’t seen but most intriguing is Heads I Win/Tails You Lose, the only available description of which calls it a four-hour (!) piece “edited together by Richard Linklater in 1991 from film countdowns and tail leaders from films submitted to the Austin Film Society in Austin, Texas from 1987 to 1990. It is Linklater’s tribute to the film countdown, used by many projectionists over the years to cue one reel of film after another when switching to another reel on another projector during projection.” Pair that with 2008’s Inning by Inning: A Portrait of a Coach and your completionism will be on-track.

On August 14th, 1987, pioneering hip-hop heavyweights the Fat Boys cemented their status as one of rap’s premier pop culture ambassadors with the simultaneous release of their platinum-selling fourth album Crushin’ and their breakout comedy Disorderlies. With a matchless mixture of skills, charisma, a tireless work ethic, a sense of humor and a powerful mouth-powered rhythm machine, the trio of Mark “Prince Markie Dee” Morales, Damon “Kool Rock-Ski” Wimbley and Darren “Buff Love” Robinson (a.k.a. “the Human Beatbox”) was integral in bringing rap music to the attention of mainstream audiences.

Dearest Irrfan,
Can’t believe you are gone. Knowing you the way I do, you know better than most of us, what a cruel blow destiny can deal in our lives just when everything seems to be going as planned.
In 2017 you were supremely on top of the game with English Medium becoming both a critical and commercial success. I remember how pleased you were with the turn of events and how much it meant to you to be in a film that was not just praised by critics but also loved by the masses. I remember how disappointed you were when earlier your collaboration with the Raja of the Masses Anees Bazmi had failed.
Come to think of it, the film failed. You didn’t. You never do. Have we ever seen a substandard performance from you? Not possible.
When your health began to fail you were puzzled. Why...

Easily the best series I've seen on the Ott platform, "Modern Love" is an ambrosial anthology of eight episodes portraying love in all its splendour, sometimes slender, sometimes hard, but always tender and revealing, each episode has the stand-alone emotional strength of being a full-length feature film.

John and Matthew are watching every single live-action film starring Meryl Streep.
#10 —Molly Gilmore, a married woman who, against her better judgment, falls in love with a married man.
John: Falling in Love is my favorite movie. Well, not exactly. I only just watched it for the first time, so I can’t exactly gauge the extent of my affection. But I’ll repeat: Falling in Love is my favorite movie. It’s hard not to fall in love (sorry) with a movie where Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro have an affair in 1983 New York City, aided by best pals Dianne Wiest and Harvey Keitel. After a chance encounter at the beautiful Manhattan bookstore Rizzoli on Christmas Eve, the two meet again months later, care of the blessed Metro North, and eventually have their desires and marriages tested. One could say it’s a Mazursky-inflected Deer Hunter reunion, minus the wit,...

This article marks Part 12 of the 21-part Gold Derby series analyzing Meryl Streep at the Oscars. Join us as we look back at Meryl Streep’s nominations, the performances that competed with her at the Academy Awards, the results of each race and the overall rankings of the contenders.
In 1977, while Meryl Streep was making her big screen debut with a small role in Fred Zinnemann‘s Oscar-winning “Julia,” young filmmaker Wes Craven was scaring the pants off moviegoers with his X-rated horror flick “The Hills Have Eyes.”
Seven years later, in 1984, Streep already had two Oscars under her belt, yet was putting fans to sleep with the tedious Robert De Niro romance “Falling in Love.” Meanwhile, Craven was at last breaking down the door into mainstream cinema, with his “A Nightmare on Elm Street” proving a sleeper hit and making burnt serial killer Freddy Krueger a household name.

First comes love, then comes marriage, then immediately comes a baby in the baby carriage — right, Mom?
Miranda Kerr, who is expecting her first child with husband Evan Spiegel, revealed on Tuesday that her 7-year-old son Flynn with ex-husband Orlando Bloom was super anxious to become a big brother.
“He’s very excited,” the model said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “He’s so excited that Evan and I had been together for a while and he was like, ‘When are we going to have another baby brother or sister?’ And we were like, ‘Look, we’ve got to get married first.

In 1984, after making three consecutive appearances in Best Actress at the Academy Awards, Meryl Streep was a no-show on nominations morning for her turn opposite Robert De Niro in “Falling in Love.” The odds of a Streep return to the ceremony looked strong, however, in 1985. Two projects were lined up, both awards-caliber on paper.
The first of these two projects landed with a whimper that September. “Plenty,” directed by acclaimed Australian filmmaker Fred Schepisi, with a screenplay by David Hare, cast Streep as an Englishwoman searching for fulfillment in life after serving with the French Resistance in World War II. Over her remarkable career, Meryl Streep has amassed a record 20 Oscar nominations, nearly double the recognition of her closest competition. Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson each garnered a dozen bids over their lengthy careers. This year, with her acclaimed turn as Katharine Graham, the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, in Steven Spielberg‘s “The Post,” Streep is poised to extend her lead even further with another Best Actress Academy Awards nomination.
Thus far this awards season, Streep has won Best Actress honors from the National Board of Review and earned Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award nominations. Cause for concern, however, were her snubs at both the SAG and BAFTA Awards. Since the inception of the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 1994, Streep has never missed at both these and the British awards and still received an Oscar nomination.
Still, there are four compelling reasons to believe Streep will be nominated on Tuesday.

Congrats to Kelsea Ballerini!
The 24-year-old singer said "I do" to her fiance, Morgan Evans,Et can confirm. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony with family and friends in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Et sat down with Ballerini in her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, in October, where she opened up about her relationship with Evans, and admitted that they fell in love "aggressively quick." Evans popped the question on Christmas Day last year, just nine months after the pair met last March. And Ballerini wrote her song, "Unapologetically" just three weeks after their first meeting.
Though the couple both has busy schedules, Ballerini said that she and Morgan don't go more than two weeks without seeing each other -- and credited that commitment for making their relationship work.

The trailer for HBO’s newest miniseries “Gunpowder” makes one thing perfectly clear: Kit Harington’s hair should only be styled down. (Looking at you, Jon Snow man-bun.) In any case, the introduction to the latest three-part 17th century thriller features Harington as Robert Catesby, the driving force behind the Gunpowder Plot that enveloped London back in 1605.
Catesby, a committed Catholic, struggles to live in Protestant England where Catholics are ruthlessly persecuted. Robert Cecil, King James’ spymaster (played by Mark Gatiss of “Game of Thrones” and “Sherlock” fame), oppresses those who are openly Catholic through loss of property, torture, and death. The acclaimed cast also features Liv Tyler (“The Leftovers”) as Catesby’s cousin, Anne Vaux, and Peter Mullan (“Quarry”) as the Jesuit Father Garnet.
The series, which originally aired on BBC One, was received as a historically accurate drama with gruesome and violent scenes that shocked some unknowing viewers.

If Issa Rae were a queer woman, “Insecure” might look more like “195 Lewis,” a show so stylish, sexy, and assured that it has steadily built momentum by word of mouth since its festival premiere over a year ago. Set in the heart of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, “195 Lewis” follows a black lesbian couple as they strive to practice radical honesty in their newly polyamorous relationship. Surrounding them are a group of close-knit young black queer friends, peppered with characters as unique and colorful as the greens and purple hues of every gorgeous frame.

“Divorce” was nothing if not unique when it debuted in the winter of 2016. Dark, unflinching, and with a black sense of humor, Sarah Jessica Parker’s return to HBO dug into the nitty gritty details of an act nearly half of America’s married population will go through during their lives. Some viewers weren’t ready to deal with it, but those who were experienced a meticulous 10-episode investigation into the depths of long-term pain and newfound freedom.
Season 2 looks to capitalize more on the latter. As Parker’s divorcee Frances notes in the opening seconds of the new trailer, her divorce isn’t a bummer: It’s a fresh start.

2017 may have saved the best for last when it comes to the movies. Can’t Help Falling In Love was originally written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss. It was performed by Elvis Presley for his movie Blue Hawaii in 1961. By the next year his version of the song had topped the British charts and become a huge sensation in England and in America. Elvis Presley’s voice was loved just about everywhere he went, and this song was eventually sung by other groups that put their own spin on the tune, such as UB40, a British reggae band that topped the Us and UK charts with this song in 1993.

The “Blade Runner 2049” original score has been at the center of a mystery ever since Denis Villeneuve’s regular collaborator, Jóhann Jóhannsson, left the project over the summer and Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch came on board to replace him. Anyone who feared Zimmer’s involvement with the sequel would mean his usual bombast (see “Dunkirk” for the latest example) can rest easy, however, as the entire original score is now streaming online.
In an ironic twist, Zimmer’s work finds the composer channeling his inner Jóhannsson, as the score is full of ambient tones and airy soundscapes (albeit with a Zimmer-inflected electronic spin). The complete soundtrack clocks in at over an hour and includes songs from Frank Sinatra (“Summer Wind,” “One For My Baby”) and Elvis Presley (“Suspicious Minds,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love”), which should only add another level of intrigue on to the spoiler-protected film.

Image Source: Getty / Jason Laveris Idris Elba is usually a pretty private person, and the same goes for his love life. Even though he's a heartthrob on the big screen, he has kept a tight lip on his offscreen romances over the years. In fact, some fans would be surprised to know he's actually been married twice. In 1999, Idris tied the knot with makeup artist Hanne Norgaard. They welcomed their daughter, Isan, in 2002 before officially divorcing a year later. While it's unclear what led to their split, Hanne, who has since remarried, hinted that his career got in the way. "I knew that what Idris wanted to achieve would take major sacrifices, so I held on for the ride," she said. "But I must say, I am very happy with how things have turned out for us all." Whisper campaigns have always been an effective strategy among rival Oscar strategists, hinting at the issues that can quietly dog a movie throughout its campaign. (Remember? “They got history wrong in ‘Lincoln.’ Or: “‘Zero Dark Thirty’ justifies torture.”) Only now that we have the meme, the marketers don’t have to whisper — or even say anything at all. Social media has created a nation of casual activists who are swift to recognize the off notes, and denounce them in the Twittersphere. Of course, an irate public doesn’t necessarily matter; it’s the voters who count. And while the Academy is working to make its membership younger and more diverse — a population with greater sensitivity toward cultural issues than some of their elder peers — they’re an influence, not the majority. Here’s a look at the issues that are dogging some of the season’s Oscar titles, and how we might see them resolve.

While Elba was never actually lost on the side of a mountain, he did end up falling in love during the film’s production. The dashing Brit shot the film in Canada, and ended up catching the eye of former Miss Vancouver, Sabrina Dhowre.

To the credit of the Locarno Festival, the films in the 2017 selection don’t waste time trying to tell universal stories that transcend their time and place. Falling in love varies depending on the social conditions behind it, as Xu Bing’s found-footage film “Dragonfly Eyes” aptly proves, while weaving a story about obsession and surveillance in contemporary China. Similarly, working in a mine in Serbia has a wholly different routine than mining for gold in Suriname, as Ben Russell’s latest documentary “Good Luck” takes its time to show. Even something as widespread as the notion of the work/life balance varies considerably in films from Locarno coming from different parts of the world and set in different milieus, and enough of these films either circumvent or contradict traditional depictions of the home.

In the words of Blake Shelton and The Oak Ridge Boys... "I like doing it to country songs." (Get your minds out of the gutter.) Looking beyond the cheeky title, Shelton's latest single isn't about knocking boots -- it's about living life, day in and day out, with each moment set to the soundtrack of country radio. It's a premise that should resonate with all fans of the genre and there's no doubt that it has struck a chord with me.
