Lori Loughlin recently spoke about John Stamos, who claimed the two Full House actors made out on a rollercoaster. Even if he joked, she’s allegedly fuming about it. She played the role of Rebecca Donaldson Katsopolis, and he played the part of Uncle Jesse on Netflix and ABC. They got along well, and he defended her after she served her time for the college admissions scandal.

Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers were friends for decades, drawn together by an electric current of energy . Parton and Rogers had such good rapport that rumors of an affair between them circulated for years. Both denied having ever acted on their feelings, but they said they felt the chemistry between them from the moment they met.
Dolly Parton met Kenny Rogers on the set of her TV show
In 1976, Parton waded deeper into the pool of her talents by hosting a variety show, Dolly. One of her earliest guests was Rogers. She said that his appearance on her show marked the beginning of their crackling chemistry.
“Kenny Rogers was also a guest on that early show,” she wrote in her book Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business. “That began the chemistry that would make such a hit with the public in our future projects together. There was something about the combination that just worked.

Dolly Parton is arguably the most beloved living American. How many people are alive today because Dolly told them to get the Covid vaccine back in early 2021? Of course, she’s a paragon of country music, but her reach goes far beyond Nashville, from the disco pop of her working-woman masterpiece “9 to 5” to the soft-rock bliss of her classic Kenny Rogers duet “Islands in the Stream.” And the crossover love has been reflected back; one of the most popular cover songs of all time is Whitney Houston’s...

Rufus Wainwright won’t hit age 50 until July 22, technically, but he started the festivities a few days early with “Fifty Isn’t the End,” a three-hour show at Long Island’s East End that was a tribute to Wainwright’s career, his family lineage and, inadvertently, some of the other children of famous musicians who happen to be among his pals.
With a lineup that included Jimmy Fallon, comic Tig Notaro, Laurie Anderson and members of Wainwright’s family, including his sister Martha and his father Loudon III, the show...

One of Dolly Parton’s biggest hits is “Islands in the Stream”. The Bee Gees wrote the track, which later became a duet between Parton and Kenny Rogers. The song is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023, and Parton recently reflected on her experience recording it and what it means to her today.
Dolly Parton recorded ‘Islands in the Stream’ in ‘two or three hours’
“Islands in the Stream” was released in 1983. The track was written by the Bee Gees, who initially imagined it as a solo record for Diana Ross. After reworking it, they got Kenny Rogers onboard and asked if he could get Parton. In an interview with Smooth Radio, Parton said she lived near Rogers, so it was very easy for her to get to the studio to record it.
“I’m always honored when great artists like Barry, who produced the record and he and his brothers wrote it,...

Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton were friends from the day they met in 1976 up until Rogers’ death in 2020. Together, they’re responsible for several classics, including their most popular duet, “Islands in the Stream.” In their discography is a song called “Tell Me That You Love Me” that was released about 15 years ago and eventually lost. But the song has newly resurfaced and fans of Rogers and Parton can hear it today.

“Tell Me That You Love Me” was recorded for a compilation album about 15 years ago. But, as reported by Taste of Country, the album is now out of print and the song ended up lost. Luckily, “Tell Me That You Love Me” is featured on Rogers’ new, posthumous album, Life Is Like a Song.

Back in 2009, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton teamed up for another duet, hoping to re-create the magic of their 1983 classic “Islands in the Stream.” Alas, “Tell Me That You Love Me” didn’t quite make waves like “Island” did, and after being released on a Time-Life compilation dedicated to Rogers, it vanished from print. Now, the lost duet is finally getting a streaming release on a posthumous album from Rogers.

James Austin Johnson once again played our 45th president, as Trump, in the wake of being “indicated,” looks to scrape up a little extra cash by producing the album Now That’s What I Call My Legal Defense Fund, aka Trump Popz.

Class is back in session with “Abbott Elementary” creator and star Quinta Brunson, whose April 1 hosting debut on “Saturday Night Live” featured a comedic lesson on why she and her character, Janine Teagues, are actually nothing alike.
“I love that people are enjoying ‘Abbott,’ but I wish that they didn’t expect me to be exactly like my character all the time in public. Janine Teagues is a second grade teacher who is caring and wholesome, but I’m the opposite. I mean, I’m not a filthy whore but I like to have fun,” Brunson joked.
For viewers not familiar with Brunson, the actor provided a biting description of her acclaimed mockumentary series that caused an eruption of laughter among the crowd: “It’s a network sitcom, like ‘Friends,’ but instead of being about a group of friends it’s about a group of teachers, instead of New York...

This week’s “Saturday Night Live” cold open kicked off by addressing Donald Trump’s indictment, of course, with cast member James Austin Johnson’s spot-on Trump impression being put to good use as the former president performed various cover songs to fund his legal defense.
“Hello thank you, it’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me,” Johnson’s Trump began, Taylor Swift-style, before addressing the heart of the matter: “Well folks it happened, I got indicted. Or, as I spell it, indicated.”
He then explained that as he faces consequences for his crimes (“What the radical left democrats are doing to me is worse than any crime ever committed”), he’s launching an album of cover songs called “Now That’s What I Call My Legal Defense Fund.”
“I’ve been opening my rallies with my wonderful song ‘Justice for All,’” he said, referencing the...

The very obvious Saturday Night Live cold open featured James Austin Johnson as Donald Trump, this time following on the success of his “Justice for All” song for January 6th defendants with his own album to raise money for his legal defense.
“Well, folks, it happened, I got indicted, or as I spell it, indicated,” Johnson as Trump says at the outset. “Frankly, it’s time that I come clean and admit that I broke the law and go quietly to prison. April fools!”
“Make no mistake, what the radical left is doing is worse than any crime I have ever committed, and I’ve committed a lot — close to 34.”
Trump introduces the album he’s producing, Now That’s What I Call My Legal Defense Fund, aka Trump Popz.

A spiritual kissing cousin of such compellingly campy ’90s Aussie-produced extravaganzas as “Strictly Ballroom” and “Muriel’s Wedding,” director Gracie Otto’s “Seriously Red” disarms and delights as a sensationally spirited concoction that neatly balances unfettered outrageousness and unabashed sentimentality. The beating heart of the entire enterprise is Krew Boylan. As screenwriter, she has created a terrific role for herself. As star, she proves absolutely fearless while illuminating every aspect of a sometimes exhilarating, sometimes exasperating, always endearing protagonist. She works a singularly impressive type of movie magic while simultaneously driving the movie over the top and anchoring the borderline-fantastical narrative in something resembling reality.
Boylan stars as Raylene Delaney, better known as Red, a socially awkward small-town New South Wales realtor with, as she herself admits, “an impulse control problem.” To put it mildly. A fanatically passionate fan of Dolly Parton, she decks herself out as her idol for a company gathering,...

“American Idol” marked its 20th birthday on Monday night with “The Great Idol Reunion,” a one-hour special featuring past “Idol” contestants and judges and celebrating the show’s history, both during its years on Fox and its current home on ABC.
“Tonight we are opening the Idol yearbook,” said host Ryan Seacrest as he revealed the “Idol” VIP area, which included such familiar faces as Tamyra Gray, Pia Toscano, Anthony Federov, Brooke White, Justin Guarini, William Hung, and Seacrest’s unforgettable frosted hair.
Wasting no time getting to Hung, whose name is “synonymous with ‘American Idol,'” noted Seacrest, he returned to the stage to reprise his epic Ricky Martin performance of “She Bangs” as former judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson felt right at home alongside the current panel of Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.
In classic Abdul form, she kicked into Paula-speak, which fans surely fondly remember.

A Kenny Rogers tribute concert special that was filmed before the country-pop superstar’s death, “Kenny Rogers: All In for the Gambler,” has been set for airing later this month on CBS.
Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Lionel Richie, Reba McEntire, Little Big Town, Lady A and Idina Menzel are the guests who took part in the epic show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Oct. 25, 2017 who also made the cut for the hour-long broadcast at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on Sept. 23.

If you had “Evan Peters and Frances Conroy singing karaoke” on your “AHS” Bingo card, you’re in luck. These two longtime cast members let loose during the August 25 season premiere with a tender rendition of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers‘ 1983 love ballad “Islands In the Stream.” Above, watch the “American Horror Story: Double Feature” video clip that everyone’s talking about.
Long-delayed because of Covid-19, the 10th season finally aired on Wednesday night with lots of former cast members returning to the fold. Peters takes on the role of playwright Austin Sommers while Conroy portrays famed author Sarah “Belle Noir” Cunningham. The unlikely duo comes to Provincetown, Massachusetts every year in order to get the juices flowing — both figuratively and literally. The mysterious black pills they take turn them into vampire-like monsters whose talent increases immensely when they drink human blood.

This American Horror Story: Double Feature review contains spoilers.
American Horror Story Season 10 Episodes 1 and 2
For 1984, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk channeled their inner Sean S. Cunningham in order to craft a campy, funny, bloody ode to classic slasher movies from Friday the 13th to Sleepaway Camp. From the very opening moments of this season, in which a car sweeps down a deserted two-lane highway along a cold, frosty beach, the first half of American Horror Story: Double Feature, dubbed “Red Tide”, evokes nothing more strongly than the works of Stephen King and Joe Hill. It’s hard to do anything related to New England and horror without running into the King family, and rather than attempt to run from the obvious influences, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk lean in and give the people what they want from the very first frames.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Cape Fear” and “Pale,” the two episodes that aired as the “American Horror Story: Double Feature” premiere on Aug. 25.
It has been nearly two years since the last season of “American Horror Story,” which took everyone on a journey through 1980s slasher movie tropes with “1984.” The new season is also starting with a film reference in “Double Feature,” but based on what the creators have said about the theme, it simply means there are two stories this season.
The first is subtitled “Red Tide” and it will encompass the first six episodes of the season; the second is “Death Valley” and it will be featured in the last four episodes. Presumably, because this is “AHS,” the two halves will be connected somehow — and they do share some cast members, including Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross and Leslie Grossman.

Ryan Murphy kept us all up way past our bedtimes on Wednesday with the two-part premiere of American Horror Story: Double Feature. But was it worth the extra shot of espresso we’ll all need to function in the morning?
Hell yeah, it was! Chilling, compelling and wonderfully acted, Double Feature already feels like a return to form for the long-running franchise. It’s also the breath of fresh air we so desperately needed after enduring an entire season of American Horror Stories.

Hailey Whitters and Ernest are joining forces for a smooth new project. Working under the moniker Countrypolitan, the country singer-songwriters recorded seven duets for an upcoming EP. The duo preview the collaboration with a sterling cover of “Islands in the Stream,” the iconic 1983 Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers duet. The rendition arrives with a music video, directed by Harper Smith, that plays up the retro vibes of the EP.

Melissa Villaseñor had to get creative to show off her Dolly Parton impersonation on the Dec. 12 episode of Saturday Night Live, but it was well worth it! The comedian joined Colin Jost on the Weekend Update segment of the show in order to sing some Christmas songs. However, instead of Melissa appearing as herself, she dressed up like the "Islands in the Stream" singer, in a skin-tight white outfit with a bright blonde wig. Even her chest appeared Dolly-like, but Melissa insisted they were her "regular, big ole' things." When Colin questioned the costume, given how long Melissa has wanted to do her Dolly impression on the show, she insisted she was...

Before the Bee Gees spread disco fever across radio waves, dance floors and movie screens, they were somewhat less known for their exquisite pop ballads. And they had a different lead singer: Robin Gibb, who died at the age of 62 on May 20, 2012. Unlike big brother Barry Gibb’s smooth, seductive falsetto – which propelled Seventies strobe-light classics like “Stayin’ Alive,” “Jive Talkin’,” and “Night Fever” — Robin’s lead vocals were warbly, yet soulful, elevating woeful anthems of sinking ships, collapsing caves and lovers strolling to the electric chair. Morrissey fans, recognize!

Earlier this summer, Rufus Wainwright released Unfollow the Rules, his first full-on pop album since 2012’s Out of the Game, after a three-month delay due to the Covid-19 shutdown. Although he hasn’t been able to go out on the road to share his songs with fans on a tour as he typically would, that hasn’t meant he hasn’t kept busy creatively.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, he’s been performing “quarantunes” from his living room piano, what he’s termed the Rufus-Retro-Wainwright-Spective, keeping his fans entertained...

While certainly many filmmakers and storytellers have tried, there are very few approaches which could describe the experience of war and the trauma in its aftermath. Iraq, a country which has been through a dictatorship as well as two wars and much social turmoil, has experienced much misery in its history, leaving a permanent mark on the country and its people. In his 2017 feature “The Journey”, Iraqi-Dutch director Mohamed Jabarah-Al Daradij creates a blend of drama and thriller with the purpose of telling a story about the wounds the war left behind, the physical as well as the psychological. In the end, he manages to give his view on Iraqi society and the nation, a powder keg-situation defined by the memory of the war and personal loss.

Exclusive: Shout! Factory has inked a worldwide multiyear distribution deal for a 10 Kenny Rogers-starring films including all five in The Gambler TV movie series. The pact includes remake rights that paves the way for a TV series reboot based on Rogers’ card-playing, adventure-seeking Brady Hawkes, who was at the center of The Gambler in a run that spanned 14 years.
Shout! Factory’s original content unit Shout! Studios is developing and will produce the updated series based on the music, movies, and miniseries spawned by The Gambler, the title of the first 1980 TV movie that aired on CBS. It earned four sequels, the last, Gambler V: Playing for Keeps, airing in 1994.
“As far as legacies go, The Gambler is a doozy,” said Brent Haynes, Head of Original Content Development at Shout! “We are thrilled to be working with Kenny’s estate on this series. This is the kind of nostalgic,...

Jon Cryer’s iconic Duckie Dale from the Eighties John Hughes classic Pretty in Pink might not seem to have a lot in common with a dance hall on the fringes of Southeast Texas. But you could link one item — that leather-stringed Western bolo tie cinched loosely around Duckie’s neck — directly to a honky-tonk named Gilley’s and the movie that brought Western fashion and country music into the mainstream. This year, the 1980 John Travolta film Urban Cowboy marks its 40th anniversary.

Orville Peck saluted the late Kenny Rogers on Monday with a solo acoustic version of “Islands in the Stream,” the latter’s 1983 hit with Dolly Parton. The acoustic cover arrived midway through the masked country artist’s livestreamed, at-home concert, which marked the one-year anniversary of his debut LP, Pony.
“This is one of my all-time favorite country duets,” he said while honoring Rogers, who died three days earlier at age 81 from natural causes. Peck performed “Islands in the Stream,” like the rest of his intimate set, against a living...

Kenny Rogers always knew when to hold them, when to fold them, when to walk away, when to run. The beloved country-pop stud died Friday night at 81, after a career full of hits that defined his silver-fox mystique. Kenny was barely north of 40 when he sang his signature song, “The Gambler” in 1978, but he came on like a grizzled old sage who’d seen it all. His hits were full of sensually growled wisdom: walk away from trouble when you can, don’t fall in love with a dreamer, never...

Kenny Rogers, whose music went beyond the country music genre he is known for, died at home in Sandy Springs, Ga., Friday night, according to the New York Times. He was 81.
“The Rogers family is sad to announce that Kenny Rogers passed away last night at 10:25Pm at the age of 81,” his family said in a statement to Twitter. “Rogers passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.”
Rogers was known for duets like his chart-topping pairing with Dolly Parton, “Islands in the Stream,” and crossover hits like “Coward of the County,” “Lucille,” “Lady,” and his signature song, “The Gambler.” But the Country Music Hall of Famer went through all genres in his musical journey, from playing upright bass in a jazz band, through subtle Vietnam War commentary with his cover of Mel Tillis’ song “Ruby” to psychedelic swing...
