This post contains spoilers for this week’s episode of The Curse, which is now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime.
“It’s a Good Day” opens with two potential buyers prepping for an on-camera tour of one of Whitney’s passive homes. As is standard for The Curse, things are getting uncomfortable immediately, on both an emotional level and a physical one. The Seigels have decided — well, Whitney has decided, and Asher has gone along, because that is their power dynamic — that all buyers have to sign a letter in support of the Pueblo nation.

Mary Fitzgerald choked back tears while emotionally revealing she suffered a miscarriage.
The “Selling Sunset” star took to Instagram on Friday and posted a video in which she struggled to reveal the news she said she sat on for weeks, that her and her husband, Romain Bonnet, went to Bali and got pregnant. Unfortunately, Fitzgerald says, the pregnancy didn’t work out. She said she felt compelled to share her message after promising fans she’d take them with her through her fertility journey.
“On top of the miscarriage, also had a septic miscarriage,” said Fitzgerald, referring to the development of an infection in her uterus that requires surgery. “So, had to go in for surgery for that. I guess the only reason why I’ve been silent for a long time — and the reason why I’m speaking out now — is because I do realize how common this is...

His other credits include the film “Johnny Dangerously,” the TV movie “Free to Be…You and Me,” and the TV show “Doctor, Doctor.”

Norman Steinberg, the Emmy-winning screenwriter who teamed with Mel Brooks on Blazing Saddles and My Favorite Year and wrote for the Michael Keaton-starring Mr. Mom and Johnny Dangerously, has died. He was 83.
Steinberg died March 15 at his Hudson Valley home in upstate New York, his family announced.
Steinberg also wrote Yes, Giorgio (1982), starring Italian opera star Luciano Pavarotti in his feature acting debut, and co-wrote Funny About Love (1990), directed by Leonard Nimoy and starring Gene Wilder and Christine Lahti.
The Brooklyn native and former lawyer won his Emmy very early in his career, for his work on a Flip Wilson variety show.
His TV résumé also included developing Marlo Thomas’ 1974 landmark kids special, Free to Be … You & Me (he brought Brooks in on that); serving as a writer and executive producer on the first two seasons of CBS’ Cosby; and creating the short-lived CBS sitcoms Doctor, Doctor and Teech.

Norman Steinberg, screenwriter of the classic Mel Brooks comedy “Blazing Saddles,” has died at the age of 83, his family said through a statement by the Writers Guild of America East.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh law school, Steinberg sought to be a comedy writer after he felt dissatisfied with life as an attorney. That dream was something that he would regularly tell Brooks when he encountered him at the Chock Full ‘O Nuts cafe in Manhattan, which led the famed comedian and producer to tell Steinberg to write a script for the sitcom “Get Smart.”
Though “Get Smart” was canceled by the time Steinberg finished the script, Brooks enjoyed it and told him to pursue writing. He quit his job as a lawyer and got his start as a writer for the music magazine Cash Box. Like countless others, he moved to...

It’s rare that Trevor Noah doesn’t have a zinger, but the late night host was too appalled to find the funny in the situation after hearing during Monday’s episode of “The Daily Show” that Donald Trump may have buried his ex-wife Ivana at his New Jersey golf course for a tax break.

Ivana Trump was buried near the first hole at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Tax documents reported by ProPublica show that the Trump Family Trust previously sought to designate a property in a nearby town as a nonprofit cemetery company.

Unspeakably lame in every department—writing, directing, acting and intent—this immature little goof on a high school murder mystery is notable only for the presence of Rita Moreno, looking and sounding some twenty years younger than her actual 90 as a sinister school teacher who should have retired and abandoned her wicked ways while she was still ahead. Absurdly plotted and handicapped by two massively unappealing lead teen characters, this is a very unlikely entry in any film festival, but it nonetheless did debut at South by Southwest.

There seems to be a yearning for nostalgia in entertainment these days, given that our daily headlines are rarely upbeat and heartwarming, what with the country’s deeply ingrained political divisions as well as the ongoing threat of the Covid-19 pandemic. That might be why TV execs have been capitalizing on their audience’s hunger for comfort viewing with revivals of hits from past, ranging from “Sex and the City” and “Dexter” to “The Wonder Years” and “Gossip Girl.”

The television landscape was changing when the 23rd Emmy Awards took place at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood on May 9, 1971, with Johnny Carson as host. History was made in more than one way that night.
NBC’s “The Flip Wilson Show,” the first comedy-variety series hosted by an African-American, won the genre and writing awards. Wilson shared in both victories. And Mark Warren became the first black helmer to win an Emmy for his direction of NBC’s “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.”
George C. Scott, who had declined the Oscar just 24 days earlier for “Patton,” didn’t attend the Emmys either. A review of last night's "Mad Men" coming up just as soon as I'm the quick brown fox... "We both know things can't be undone." -Trudy "Says who?" -Pete "Mad Men" has chronicled a period of enormous social change (and taken place in a time of enormous change in television), yet it's often seemed agnostic on whether individual change is possible. Over the course of the series, fashions shifted and opportunities rose for women and minorities, but were the "Mad Men" characters themselves really changing with the times? Peggy has certainly grown, yet we've seen Don and Roger and Joan and others have epiphany after epiphany, only to eventually lean back on their old habits. (And even Peggy hasn't been immune to stagnation in her personal life, even as she's evolved professionally.) If anything, Don's frequent backsliding has been one of the most common complaints I've heard about the series'...

Late Show posts highlights from the monologue, which is nice, as most shows don’t. Dave...

Didn't stay up to watch Wednesday's late night talk shows? Moviefone's got you covered. Here's some of what you might have missed:
Jimmy Fallon busted out his funny-yet-creepy Lip Flip routine again with "Tonight Show" guest and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" star Whoopi Goldberg, where the pair swapped mouths and interviewed each other posing as the other (including some hilarious attempts at various accents for both parties). The clip culminated in a rendition of the Aretha Franklin and George Michael duet "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)," complete with a semi-horrifying split screen shot of the two digitally altered comedians.
"Frozen" star Josh Gad also stopped by "The Tonight Show" to promote his new movie, the Zach Braff-directed "Wish I Was Here," but the animated Disney hit dominated the conversation. Gad told Fallon that his 3-year-old daughter doesn't care about his character, talking snowman Olaf, but thinks he...

The project was supervised by Sony Music India which released Xscape here. We're feeling a little bereft. The Big Reunion has come to an end - though at least it was with a bang! The show went out in style with the much-trailed Hammersmith gig and now it's time to pack up our trouser skirts, heart glitter and gel pens and get back to our adult lives (well, as adult as we get anyway.) But at least the last hurrah was a good'un - here's what we noticed from the last episode of The Big Reunion's second series...
1. Kian Egan has a filthy mouth.
"Hear'Say, kiss my arse." Kian. We expected better from a former Westlife member from Westlife.
2. Andi Peters' voiceover just got even more ridiculous.
It started reasonably enough, with talk of clutching crocheted Adam Rickitt dolls to our bosoms, which we related to, obviously. Then it just got silly: "Jade is wearing a hat." Then it got...

Rise of an Empire is a fine sequel to 300, but People's critic says you should check into The Grand Budapest Hotel instead. Here's what to see and what to skip in theaters this weekend. See thisThe Grand Budapest HotelWhimsy gets such a crappy rap. Granted, too many directors use it poorly, spraying their sketchily plotted, inartfully written films with cinematic chintz. But Wes Anderson is of an entirely different vintage. He uses massive amounts of whimsy - more than just about anyone else - but the difference is that he knows just how. Take The Grand Budapest Hotel, for instance.

Actor and screenwriter Nick Damici’s new film We Are What We Are concerns a close-knit clan of cannibals. So when he welcomes EW into his New York apartment for a home-cooked dinner one obvious question springs to mind: You’re not going to eat me, right? “No, but you’ll notice my girlfriend’s not here,” Damici chuckles, before handing out plates of spicy peppers and what one hopes are pork sausages to EW and We Are What We Are director and cowriter Jim Mickle.
Set in a rain-lashed upstate New York, We Are What We Are, which will be released in L.

The Wasteland:
Television is a gold goose that lays scrambled eggs;
and it is futile and probably fatal to beat it for not laying caviar.
Lee Loevinger
When people argue over the quality of television programming, both sides — it’s addictive crap v. underappreciated populist art — seem to forget one of the essentials about commercial TV. By definition, it is not a public service. It is not commercial TV’s job to enlighten, inform, educate, elevate, inspire, or offer insight. Frankly, it’s not even commercial TV’s job to entertain. Bottom line: its purpose is simply to deliver as many sets of eyes to advertisers as possible. As it happens, it tends to do this by offering various forms of entertainment, and occasionally by offering content that does enlighten, inform, etc., but a cynic would make the point that if TV could do the same job televising fish aimlessly swimming around an aquarium,...

While many might feel this article is a violent blast from the past, the intense theatrical and creative expression Limp Bizkit encompasses through their delivery, message, stage presence and theme remain unmatched by most. Of course, the music industry would still thrive without them and the presence of hundreds of other bands that also “kick holes in speakers” prove that the art remains alive, but no one quite does it like Limp Bizkit.

Lisa Marie Presley's fashion is often as surprising as her relationships. The only child of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley has evolved from a pouty-mouthed kid in cute cardigans and barrettes to a musician's wife sporting all-black and dark lipstick.
During her mind-boggling marriage to Michael Jackson, Presley stood beside the King of Pop wearing matching outfits and hairstyles. Her short-lived union to actor Nicholas Cage was filled with cropped tops and wacky printed pants. Even though the mom to model Riley Keough has had a few head-scratching style moments since saying "I do" to guitarist and producer Michael Lockwood, Presley appears to be enjoying the glamorous life.
In celebration of Lisa Marie Presley's 45th birthday on Friday (Feb. 1), we're taking a look back at the rock-and-roll royal's style over the years. Vote for your favorite look in the slideshow below.

Odd List Juliette Harrisson Dec 18, 2012
Juliette revisits five of the best geek TV Christmas Specials, with help from Community, Blackadder, The X-Files, and more...
This feature contains spoilers.
Like Halloween episodes, Christmas episodes tend to be restricted to contemporary settings (though I should add a shout-out to 1980s British drama sequel Another Flip for Dominick, follow-up to The Flipside of Dominick Hyde, which actually problematized the lack of Christmas in the future). Also like Halloween episodes, they tend to be comedies, horrors, or comedy-horrors. And so, Season’s Greetings from a collection of ghosts, pagan gods and people trying and failing to get through Christmas without getting embroiled in hilarious hi-jinks.
5. The Big Bang Theory, The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis
Which Christmas is this? Sheldon complains that he chooses not to celebrate the Roman festival of Saturnalia, but everyone ignores him and gets on with celebrating the secular side of Christmas.

Comedian Phyllis Diller passed away today at her Los Angeles home at the age of 95. Diller's agent Fred Wostbrock , who called her the first lady of stand up comedy, said Diller died in her sleep.
Diller broke into the comedy scene in 1955 at San Francisco's famed Purple Onion nightclub. Diller, who was 37 and a housewife at the time, won the crowd over when the owner gave her a substitute stand-up spot.
Diller found success in television, movies, Broadway, and as a recording artist. In the '60s and '70s Diller found an audience as she became a frequent guest on The Tonight Show, The Flip Wilson Show, and Laugh-In. Younger audiences discovered her from her stints on shows like Family Guy, 7th Heaven, and The Drew Carey Show. She lent her voice to the Pixar movie A Bug's Life. She also appeared in the raunchy documentary The Aristocrats.

Comedian, actress, artist, and author Phyllis Diller died Monday at her home in Los Angeles. She was 95.
“She was a true pioneer,” Diller’s longtime agent Fred Wostbrock told EW. “She was the first lady of stand up comedy. She paved the way for everybody. And she conquered television, movies, Broadway, record albums, nightclubs, books, and radio. She did it all. A true pioneer.”
The housewife-turned-advertising copywriter and mother of six got her big showbiz break in 1955 at the age of 37 when the owner of San Francisco’s now-defunct Purple Onion nightclub gave her a substitute stand-up spot one night.

If you get all your news on the internet (thank you for reading!), you may have the impression that NBC has been an utter failure during the London Olympics — a disappointment to the nation, a puddle of undeserved sweat, not even worthy of bronze. Can you imagine if Ryan Seacrest had devoted a “Social Download” segment to the rise and continued rise of the prevalent hashtag #NBCFail? He might have had to cut out Angelina’s leg to get the point across!
But while the same few thousand people who write all of the articles on the internet complained about #NBCFail,...

Directed by Steve Moore
Screenplay by Dan O’Shannon
1997 – USA
A corporation as vast and impressive as the Walt Disney Company would, you’d think, have a massive amount of interest in releasing its many creations. People love Disney for various reasons, and are typically happy to part with a few bucks to own part of what made up their childhood or what’s defining their children’s lives. And yet, there are many forgotten or lost bits and pieces of Disney history that the Internet is enabling all of us to find in either the most random of places or at the most random of times. A few months ago, for example, a never-officially-released and somewhat controversial behind-the-scenes documentary of The Emperor’s New Groove, from the perspective of the musician Sting (who worked on the film), made its way to YouTube for a few hours.

Laguna Beach, Calif. — Bob Henry, a producer and director of television variety shows including "The Nat King Cole Show" and "The Flip Wilson Show," has died.
A Tuesday statement from the Pageant of the Masters art festival where he was a director says Henry died Sunday at his home in Laguna Beach, Calif. He was 92.
Henry worked in television for more than five decades and was noted for bringing black performers like Cole and Wilson to a wider audience.
He produced, directed and wrote 1956's "Nat King Cole Show" for NBC, which several network affiliates refused to air because of its black star.
Henry would later direct and produce variety shows for Andy Williams, the Carpenters, Glen Campbell and Barbara Mandrell, and also helmed telecasts of the Emmy and Grammy awards.

As always, last week gets recapped. But you read that last week right? Right!?
We pick up backstage where Jeff Hardy is beating down Bully Ray in that are that they always seem to be taking photos. They brawl past that with some terribly unrealistic punches and out to another backstage area. Just in time, Roode pulls up in his beautiful white truck and jumps Hardy with Bully. Bully drops a piece of wood on Jeff’s leg that looks like it weighs less than a sponge. They throw him in the back of the truck, but then James Storm comes out of nowhere and gets involved. He throws Storm through a barricade then smacks Bully with a Plastic bottle. I should note there’s a lot of needless grunting going on. Then, Sting comes into the picture and takes a bat to Roode’s stomach.

He’s the King of Pop. He was a smooth criminal, and he was even sometimes bad. (But he was never, ever Billie Jean’s lover.) Yes, Michael Jackson was many things, and Fox’s Glee aims to evoke many of the music legend’s images with its “Michael” episode, airing Jan. 31.

Every Friday night, my kids, my wife and I boot up the TV and watch a week's worth of our favorite shows. We don't all like everything the same. Personally, I feel like Glee has jumped the shark, and it took a while for my kids to warm to the pitch black humor of Louie. Still, we watch it all, together (usually over Thai food). It's an important time for our family in which issues arise that normally would not. Sometimes my wife and I must answer questions we'd rather not, and sometimes my kids get questions they'd rather avoid. But after a long, rushed, hectic week apart, this "TV Time" brings us closer. Unfortunately, in this digital age, this is a rarer occurrence than you might think.

Looks like Joe Jackson isn’t the only person hoping to make some money off of Mj. As if America didn’t have dozens of songs, music videos, TV appearances and ill-advised red leather jackets to remember him by, now Michael Jackson’s clothing will be sold in pieces as part of a new trading card series from Panini America, a memorabilia company that is apparently as bad as coming up with collectibles as they are with coming up with sensible company names.

Dear Readers:
My first love will always be the movies… but I’m also very passionate about television — past and present, popular and obscure, highbrow and lowbrow, etc.
I minored in film studies at college, but I also took classes on television, its history, and its cultural impact, all of which I loved, and I’ve continued to independently study those subjects in the years since.
