- The film was unreleased in the UK until 1972, after the junkyard fight between the thugs and the hippies was heavily cut at the behest of the BBFC. All later UK home video releases of it were completely uncut.
- The 2015 Olive Films DVD and Blu-ray releases of the film are both of the restored and remastered director's cut, which runs 101 minutes. By comparison, the 1988 HBO Video VHS release runs slightly shorter at 98 minutes; the original theatrical print and the previous 2003 MGM DVD release are severely cut, with both running 82 minutes. Compared to said original theatrical print, the restored scenes on both of the Olive Films releases include:
- Jenny observing some buskers and being asked if she has "a place to crash".
- Harry trying to flirt with Jenny and asking if she is a Gemini.
- Elwood experiencing an LSD trip during the bus ride, followed by Stoney and the gang putting up posters.
- A montage of Jenny trying on clothes; this is then followed by a tracking shot through a jam session during which Elwood asks Pandora about her slow dancing.
- A man next to Lynn experiencing an LSD trip, during which he has colorful visions of scantily-clad women.
