Composer, songwriter ("Oh How I Miss You Tonight", "Everywhere You Go"), and early on a bandleader in dance halls and hotels. He joined ASCAP in 1926, and his chief musical collaborator was Joe Burke. His other popular-song compositions include "When You're Smiling", "Dear One", "Who Wants a Bad Little Boy", "Don't Forget to Remember", "Take Me Back to the Garden of Roses", "You're Too Much", and "Heart-Breaker".
