‘Fly Me to the Moon’ trailer lets Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum play among the stars [Watch]
“Fly Me to the Moon,” a Space Race-set romantic comedy starring two-time Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, is about to blast off. On Monday, Apple TV+ released a trailer for the film, which lands on screens this summer via a distribution deal with Sony Pictures.
“Fly Me to the Moon” tells a fictitious story set in the late ‘60s during the lead-up to the Moon Landing. Johansson, who also serves as a producer, stars as Kelly Jones, a marketing mastermind hired by NASA to improve the space program’s image. She has professional and romantic tension with Cole Davis (Tatum), a by-the-book launch commander. Things get really wild when Jones is ordered to film a fake moon landing, just in case the real one doesn’t work. And yes, there is a Stanley Kubrick joke.
The film was originally called “Project Artemis” – which is an actual, totally...

What hath Disney wrought? These animated-to-live-action conversion jobs really have gotten out hand. How else to explain Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum snatching the leads in a new take on the 2007 3D animated adventure about insects going into orbi… Sorry, we're being told that this is not that, but instead a new comedy-drama about promoting NASA by, er, faking the Moon landing in case it doesn't go well? Yes, check out the first trailer for Fly Me To The Moon:
Directed by TV guru Greg Berlanti (who at one point had around 73 different shows on the air at the height of the DC Arrowverse) from Rose Gilroy's script, it's set as NASA is looking to re-engage public awareness and excitement via the Apollo 11 Moon landing. Launch director Cole Davis (Tatum) is surprised to learn that the woman he once hit on in a diner (Johansson's Kelly Jones) is...

On the morning of July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins sat atop another Saturn V at Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center. The three-stage 363-foot rocket used its 7.5 million pounds of thrust to propel them into space and into history.
On July 20, 1969, at 10:56 p.m. Edt, Armstrong planted the first human foot on another world. With more than half a billion people watching on television, he climbed down the ladder and proclaimed: “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.”
And now some 55 years later, NASA is preparing to send people back to the lunar surface. Scheduled for September 2025, the Artemis II flight test will be NASA’s first mission with crew under Artemis and will pave the way to land the first woman and next man on the Moon on Artemis III. Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum lead an ensemble cast in Greg Berlanti’s comedy about the moon landing. Watch the first Fly Me To The Moon trailer.
Before she (reportedly) heads off to Jurassic City, Scarlett Johansson has a pit stop to make; the moon.
Well, kind of, at least. Johansson stars alongside Channing Tatum in Greg Berlanti’s new comedy about a team faking the moon landing, in case the real mission goes awry.
Take a look at the trailer.
It’s all in good fun, but there is a disturbing amount of theories about the moon landing being fake, so the film’s premise is certainly a juicy one.
Here’s the official synopsis: Starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, Fly Me To The Moon is a sharp, stylish comedy-drama set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing. Brought in to fix NASA’s public image,...

All things space-related seem to be on the mind lately thanks to this month's solar eclipse carving a wide path through the United States, so Apple TV+ is taking advantage of the universe's spectacular sense of timing by pushing out its marketing campaign for its next buzzy-sounding original movie. "Fly Me to the Moon" certainly seems like an out-of-this-world experience (sorry), but it also evokes the luscious and downright romantic emotions of the classic Frank Sinatra song of the same name, too. Turns out, that was no accident.
But even Ol' Blue Eyes has nothing on the premise of "Fly Me to the Moon," which involves achieving impossible feats like making NASA sound cool to the general public, movie stars like Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson finding love amid the unrelenting pressure of the 1960s space race, and -- oh yeah -- landing humans on our orbiting lunar neighbor. Failing that,...

Space-related movies have been popular in recent years, but Sony is bringing us a more lighthearted approach to the subject later this year in the romantic comedy Fly Me to the Moon, which shares its title with the famous song by Frank Sinatra. Based on an original screenplay by Rose Gilroy, the movie will feature Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum in the main roles, and it is set for a July 12, 2024 release. Ahead of the premiere, the first official trailer for the movie has been released, and you will be able to check it out here, as usual.
The film is directed by Greg Berlanti, known for his work on the television series Dawson’s Creek, Brothers & Sisters, Everwood, Political Animals, Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and You, as well as DC’s Arrowverse, Titans, and the Doom Patrol series. Sony and Apple have released the first trailer for “Fly Me to the Moon,” a romantic comedy starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, which is set to premiere on July 12. The film is set against the 1960s space race and features Johansson as a marketing exec hired by NASA to film a fake moon landing in case the real mission fails. Apple won the project in a $100 million deal following a bidding war in 2022, and the project was formerly known as “Project Artemis.”
Chris Evans was first set to play Tatum’s role, while Oscar nominee Johansson — who also produces — has been attached to the film since its inception. Jason Bateman was originally set as the film’s director but left the project due to creative differences. His exit altered the shooting schedule and meant Evans could not complete the project and Netflix’s “Pain Hustlers” at the same time.

Earlier, it had been reported that Sony had made a deal with Apple Films in which the studio got to distribute two high-profile movies globally before getting settled at its home on the Apple TV+ app. Sony arose as the victor in a bidding war for the two films — Wolfs, starring Oceans trilogy buddies George Clooney and Brad Pitt, and Project Artemis, which features Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum (although now it is being reported that the title may change). The acquisitions mirror a similar distributing deal Sony has with Apple for Ridley Scott‘s recent historical epic, Napoleon, which gave the movie a release on November 22 with a 45-day theatrical window.

Following their distribution partnership on Napoleon, Apple Studios and Sony Pictures will be teaming up once again to theatrically release Wolfs and Project Artemis, two more huge Apple Originals.
As we head into 2024, the slate of Apple Originals headed for theatrical releases continues to expand and boy are we thankful for it.
Whilst there will be plenty of people happy to watch Napoleon and Killers of the Flower Moon at home (with self-decided intermissions) there are lots of movie lovers who want to enjoy these films in a cinema. Apple’s high-profile space pic Project Artemis looks to be gearing up and also seeing two major changes as Deadline is hearing that Channing Tatum is in talks to co-star opposite Scarlett Johansson while Greg Berlanti will now direct the pic. Tatum replaces Chris Evans, who had to part ways with project due to scheduling conflicts with his upcoming pics Pain Hustlers and Big Red One. That said, Apple and Evans just wrapped production on the upcoming action adventure romcom Ghosted that all parties are excited about. Berlanti steps in for Jason Bateman, who as Deadline first reported last month, amicably parted ways with the film due to creative differences. Berlanti is particular about what he commits to as a director and insiders say not only was he super excited about the opportunity but his take on the script excited both Apple execs and producers about what he wants to do for the film.
