The Money Heist(La Casa de Papel) gang might’ve pulled off their heist at last, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the story. The series’ spin-off — by Money Heist creator Álex Pina and his Sky Rojo collaborator, Esther Martínez Lobato — is centered around the character Berlin (Pedro Alonso), long before he finds out about his terminal diagnosis and takes the Royal Mint of Spain hostage. Starring Alonso, Julio Peña, and Begoña Vargas, Berlin follows the titular character as he attempts one of his most extraordinary heists yet.
“It’s a trip through the golden age of the character, when he robbed around Europe crazy in love,” Pina told Netflix.
What happens in Berlin?

“There are really only two things that can turn a bad day into a great one: The first is love. But to be honest, that’s not for today. My third wife just dumped me. The second is a heist worth millions of euros,” future Spanish Mint robber Berlin, played again by Pedro Alonso, says at the very beginning of “Berlin,” the spinoff of from Money Heist (“La Casa de Papel”) which Netflix drops Dec. 29.
More precisely, in “Berlin,” he aims with his gang to steal €44 million’s ($47.5 million) worth in 63 jewels from 34 cities across Europe – Zurich, Milan, Saint Petersburg, and so on – in just one night, as they come together in Paris’ biggest auction house.
Netflix has also shared in exclusivity with Variety one of the very first images from “Berlin.”
From “Money Heist” creators Alex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, like the original “Berlin” is a notably Latin makeover of a U.

Money Heist was one of Netflix's biggest hits, so it makes sense that we're getting a spinoff with one of its most popular characters.
Netflix dropped the teaser trailer for Berlin during its Tudum global fan event, and it looks like a worthy next chapter for the franchise.
As previously reported, Berlin tells the tale of the titular character, but the streaming service has hinted in the past that "now is the time for Andrés de Fonollosa."
Based on the latest teaser alone, there will be plenty of action, comedy, and, most importantly, heists.
Starring alongside Pedro Alonso is Michelle Jenner as Keila, Begoña Vargas as Cameron, Julio Peña as Roi, Tristán Ulloa as Damián, and Joel Sánchez as Bruce.
The trailer certainly hints at some surprises along the way, including the arrival of some familiar faces from the original series.
