“I was crying laughing! I had to get out of the car,” reveals comedian Sebastian Maniscalco about a moment on set this season where he broke character and couldn’t contain his laughter. For our recent webchat he adds, “Man, I broke it last week and started laughing, and sometimes it’s only it’s in your head and no one even knows what the hell I was laughing about, but I had a whole story in my head about the character next to me.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Exclusive: Dale Dickey has been tapped for a heavily recurring role in the upcoming second season of Max comedy Bookie, from Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay.
Starring Sebastian Maniscalco and Omar J. Dorsey, the comedy series follows bookie Danny (Maniscalco) as he and his partner, former NFL star Ray (Dorsey), romp around Los Angeles trying to keep their illegal sports-betting operation in play.
Season 2 presumably will show [Spoiler Alert] whether Danny can win back the affections of his wife Sandra (Andrea Anders), after his Super Bowl win seems to have torn them apart, as well as Ray dealing with the fallout of his mother’s wedding, which saw the groom seemingly die at the altar.
Dickey will play Sandra’s (Anders) mother.
Bookie also stars Vanessa Ferlito as Danny’s side-hustling sister Lorraine, Jorge Garcia as reluctantly reformed drug dealer-turned-soccer expert Hector and Maxim Swinton as Sandra’s 10-year-old son.

Fans were so awed by Charlie Sheen‘s portrayal of a fictionalized version of himself in the Max series ‘Bookie’ that they have said so as many times as are needed for the show to decide to bring him in for the second ride.
So we’re soon going to be getting more Charlie Sheen playing Charlie Sheen. One can’t simply have enough of the guy, can we?
‘Two and A Half Men’s’ Creator Reveals Charlie Sheen’s Return In Upcoming Season of ‘Bookie’
There’s something satisfying about watching an actor of Sheen’s caliber poking fun at himself, and perhaps that’s why ‘Bookie’ creators have decided to bring him back onboard.
The season 1 of the show saw Sheen play a fictionalized version of himself in a recurring role. The show was recently renewed for another season run after it drew strong reviews from fans.

The mother of all reunions is not over yet: Chuck Lorre said at Deadline’s Contenders TV on Sunday that Charlie Sheen will return for a cameo (or two?) in season 2 of Max’s Bookie.
The former star of Two and a Half Men showed up in season one as himself in the Sebastian Maniscalco comedy. The reunion almost upstaged the comedy itself, which follows bookie Danny (Maniscalco) as he and his partner, former NFL star Ray (Omar J. Dorsey), romp around Los Angeles trying to keep their illegal sports betting operation in play.
“I’ve always been an admirer of his work. His work is impeccable,” Lorre told the audience. “After all this time, his chops are undiminished. It was an extraordinary experience to put everything behind us and work together again.”

Max is doubling down on Bookie.
The Warner Bros. Discovery-backed streamer has handed out a second-season pickup for the series from comedy kingpin Chuck Lorre.
From creators Nick Bakay and Lorre and starring and based on the comedy of Sebastian Maniscalco, Bookie bowed Nov. 30 and wrapped its first-season run Dec. 21.
“The collaboration between Chuck and Sebastian has proven to be a winning hand and we’re looking forward to continuing the story with this incredibly talented cast and crew,” said Amy Gravitt, exec vp programming and head of comedy at HBO and Max.
The series, like all Lorre vehicles, is produced via his longtime studio, Warner Bros. Television.
“There’s no doubt that Chuck and Nick’s Bookie won big this season as they took us on a hilarious ride into the underbelly of illegal sports gambling, featuring a cast led by another dynamic duo: Sebastian Maniscalco and Omar J. Dorsey.

It’s quite a reunion in today’s premiere of Chuck Lorre’s new Max comedy series Bookie.
The episode revisits the poker scene in Lorre’s Two and a Half Men pilot, which reunites Lorre’s Two and a Half Men alums Charlie Sheen and Angus T. Jones.
In the Bookie premiere, Danny, played by Sebastian Maniscalco, heads to Malibu to collect a debt from Sheen, whom he finds at a rehab facility. But Sheen isn’t a patient at the facility; he’s actually hosting a weekly poker game, and one of the players is “Half Man” Angus T. Jones, who played 8-year-old Jake Harper opposite Sheen on Two and a Half Men. The scene also includes the same poker buddies who attended Charlie Harper’s poker game in 2003.
Lorre spoke about the scene in an interview with Extra. “Charlie and I were discussing recreating that poker scene.

If pigs start to fly today, we’ll know why. According to Deadline, Charlie Sheen is reuniting with Chuck Lorre for the Big Bang Theory creator’s first comedy series at Max, How to Be a Bookie. It’s been twelve years since Sheen and Lorre stomped off in opposite directions. The duo collaborated on Lorre’s Two and a Half Men for an eight-year run before Sheen snapped and shredded Lorre publicly. Sheen’s outburst led to Lorre firing him from the mega-popular sitcom and killing his character. Ashton Kutcher replaced Sheen’s Charlie Harper on the show after Harper fell on subway tracks in Paris and got crushed by a train. Woof!
Deadline’s report says Lorre and Sheen have mended fences, with Sheen joining the new comedy in a recurring role for the single-camera comedy starring Sebastian Maniscalco. Sheen is trying to make a TV comeback, with...

File this under “extremely unlikely reunions”: Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre are set to work together again.
Sheen will have a recurring part on Lorre’s Max comedy How to Be a Bookie, starring comedian Sebastian Maniscalco. The reunion for Sheen and Lorre will come 12 years after Sheen’s scorched-earth departure from CBS’ Two and a Half Men in 2011.
Max and Warner Bros. TV, which is producing How to Be a Bookie, declined to comment.
In 2011, Sheen’s erratic behavior and verbal potshots at Lorre, who co-created the hugely successful Two and a Half Men, led to his firing from the sitcom. His character, Charlie Harper, was written out by having supposedly died on a trip with stalker Rose (Melanie Lynskey) — though in the series finale, it’s hinted that Charlie is still alive. The show ends with a body double as Charlie having a piano dropped on him,...

Jesse Eisenberg is a bit embarrassed to be here. It’s not because of the quality of the project he’s promoting — new miniseries Fleishman Is In Trouble is the based on the 2019 novel (of the same name) that was a New York Times bestseller, longlisted for the National Book Award, and landed on every major best of the year list; the FX adaptation also stars Lizzy Caplan and Claire Danes. Rather, it’s the sheer fact that he is on display as the face of this project, the subject of interest from other people. “I’m so embarrassed that I’m a public person in the first place,” he says. Also, there are themes in the drama series that are triggering for an actor inclined to humility.

Divorce is hard, or so I’ve been told by hundreds of movies and TV shows — enough to know I never want to go through it, and enough to know many, many people do. Spending time with these people is also hard. There are numerous reasons why — the venting about an ex, the anguish of being alone, the joys of new relationships, etc. — but it boils down to the simple fact that at this moment, these pre-, mid-, and post-divorced folks are not themselves. They’ve been thrown into a space between who they used to be and who they’ll be next. Do they want to be who they were before they were married? Or who they were during the best parts of wedded bliss? Or do they not want to go back at all? Has a failed marriage changed them forever? Do they want (or need) to become someone totally new?...

“Fleishman Is in Trouble” — the 2019 novel by Taffy Brodesser-Akner and the new television series adaptation Brodesser-Akner has created — operates a bit like a reverse “Gone Girl.”
In both cases, the disappearance of a woman from the family home amid marital discord presents the left-behind husband a mystery to solve, and memories to sift through. But in “Gone Girl” (both the Gillian Flynn novel and the David Fincher-directed film), a story of extraordinary specificity opens out, in the telling, into a story with contours that reveal universal truths about marriage. “Fleishman,” by contrast, announces itself as a document of contemporary marriage early on; as the story unwinds and reverses itself, though, its details and the manner of its telling come to leave the viewer on the outside. Especially in FX’s adaptation, this property is a narrative machine with ingenuity that can tend to be its own reward.

In the new Apple TV+ film "Raymond and Ray," Ewan McGregor ("Obi-Wan Kenobi") and Ethan Hawke ("Moon Knight") play estranged half brothers, brought back together by unusual circumstances. A new trailer has been released for the film, which will hit theaters first, then stream on the service.
The film is both written and directed by Rodrigo García, and produced by Academy Award-winner Alfonso Cuarón and Julia Lynn via Mockingbird Pictures. Ethan Hawke and Ewan McGregor are two half-brothers with a whole lot of problems.
The duo star as the titular Raymond and Ray for the upcoming AppleTV+ dramedy “Raymond & Ray,” premiering October 21 on the streamer. Raymond and Ray come to terms with their estranged father’s death by attending his funeral and dredging up their past — emotionally as well as literally, as the pair grab actual shovels to dig up their father’s grave.
Raymond and Ray then embark on a road trip to get to know their deceased father. Their path leads them to a nurse (Sophie Okonedo) who cared for their dad, as well as their dad’s mistress (Maribel Verdú) and her son (Maxim Swinton), who is their other half-brother. Oscar Nuñez, Vondie Curtis-Hall, and Todd Louiso also star.
“The old man was always screwing with us,” Raymond (McGregor) says to Ray (Hawke) in the trailer.
