It has been over a decade since Ryan Reynold’s Green Lantern feature dropped, which not only bombed critically and commercially, but its failure led to WB putting the IP on ice. Fortunately, with the new regime in, fans will finally get to experience the Lanterns on the silver screen for the first time since 2011, as they are set to make their Dcu debut in the HBO show Lanterns.

The Dceu's latest movie had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it connection to Green Lantern.
In Zack Snyder's Justice League, the Green Lantern Yalan Gur appeared during Darkseid's initial attempt to terraform Earth, but the character was killed by the Apokolips leader.
In the movie's original ending, Snyder planned to use Wayne T. Carr's John Stewart to warn Bruce Wayne about a new threat, but the final version used Martian Manhunter instead.

The hierarchy of power at DC Studios has changed. In the days after the release of Black Adam introduced a new juggernaut to DC’s big-screen pantheon, Warner Bros. has not only restructured its superhero movie branch with director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran to lead it but also officially brought back Henry Cavill’s Superman. And just days before that, we learned that The Batman director Matt Reeves was leading a serious expansion of his own dark superhero universe, with movies about many of Gotham City’s greatest villains planned. The controversy-ridden, eternally delayed The Flash movie somehow has a sequel already in development, too.
There’s a lot going on at the newly-reorganized DC Studios, with no signs of stopping as Gunn, Safran, and friends try to finally steer the ship toward the lucrative waters where Marvel dropped its anchor long ago. It’s much too early...

The HBO Max “Green Lantern” series is being retooled to focus on a different lead character, and as a result has lost its showrunner.
DC and HBO Max decided to take the TV series adaptation of the fan-favorite comic in a different direction, focusing on John Stewart – a Black Green Lantern – instead of the other Green Lanterns that were the focus of the project initially. As a result, showrunner and writer Seth Grahame-Smith (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”) has decided not to stick with the project, sources confirm to TheWrap.
We’re told the decision to change the focus of the “Green Lantern” series predates the news that James Gunn and Peter Safran will be spearheading the DC Universe going forward.

In 2011, the silver screen debut of Green Lantern landed like a thud instead of soaring like a triumph. The film was dismissed both by critics and wider audiences; one of the more positive reviews was Roger Ebert's middling praise, "['Green Lantern'] intends to be a sound-and-light show, assaulting the audience with sensational special effects. If that's what you want, that's what you get."
Time hasn't been any kinder to "Green Lantern." Star Ryan Reynolds has poked fun at it in both of his subsequent "Deadpool" movies. "Green Lantern" was conceived as the beginning of a larger DC Comics film franchise, meant to rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Instead, its hero has been persona non grata on film since. Green Lantern is usually a staple of the Justice League but in both versions of that film, the only Lantern who showed up was a cameo.

Chicago Med returns for its eighth season on September 21. Here’s what you need to know from its leading lady, Marlyne Barrett, who plays Nurse Maggie Lockwood. Where We Left Off This may be Chicago Med, but the Season 7 cliffhanger was all about fire. Flames moved through Dr. Will Halstead’s (Nick Gehlfuss) apartment building, potentially trapping him and fellow doc Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard). Meanwhile, Maggie (Barrett) dealt with the embers of an old love when daughter Vanessa Taylor’s (Asjha Cooper) birth father, Grant Young (Wayne T. Carr), reappeared. Where We Pick Up It’ll be all hands on deck as Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains), Lt. Commander Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee), and mentor Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber) work to treat the fire’s survivors, and as Season 8 begins, Maggie’s concern focuses on Will. “He’s one of my best friends, he’s my brother,...

Actor Wayne T. Carr reveals what his version of Green Lantern in Zack Snyder’s Justice League could’ve looked like if it came to fruition.
“Taking to Twitter to share the image, Carr expressed his desire to ‘Give the fans what they want by restoring the ‘SnyderVerse,’ or Snyder’s vision of what the Dceu should’ve been. The actor was originally set to portray John Stewart in 2017 thanks to the American director and actually shot his scenes already, but because Warner Bros. and DC Comics had different plans for Green Lantern, his cameo was ultimately cut and replaced by a scene introducing the Martian Manhunter.”

It’s a miracle akin to the ring itself: 2011’s Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, has shot up to the top of Netflix’s Top 10 U.S. Movies list just two days after dropping on the streaming service. It’s at #3 as of this writing, with way more viewers likely to stream it over the weekend. While this may come as a surprise to those who first watched the film in theaters in 2011, interest in a Green Lantern movie has never been stronger.
Despite his much maligned debut on the big screen, Green Lantern remains one of the characters DC movie fans keep asking to see in the Dceu the most. While Reynolds’ turn as the cosmic protector made waves for all the wrong reasons when it released, the latest Dceu movie to flirt with a Green Lantern cameo was the talk of Twitter for what it...

Zack Snyder’s Justice League made its once-unlikely arrival on HBO Max this past March, showcasing what was hyped as the director’s definitive vision of the 2017 DC Extended Universe megamovie, which he was initially unable to complete. While, for fans of Snyder, it lived up to said hype, the conversation about unrealized concepts shifted to Justice League member Green Lantern, who studio Warner Bros. insisted be cut from the reworked film. However, Snyder has been stoking interest in his unused Green Lantern concept ever since, notably with a recent reveal of concept art that sets the emerald ring-wielder’s role into context.
While the idea of the Green Lantern Corps was very much present in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, specifically its prologue, which was set around 5,000 years in the past, that usage was intended to set the stage for a present-day member to show up and join our heroes: John Stewart.

Although Zack Snyder's Justice League included just about everything that Snyder had originally shot for the superhero epic, there were a few elements that the director was forced to cut out. Wayne T. Carr played John Stewart in a scene filmed on a small green screen set
Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” cut gave him the opportunity to add back in many of his ideas and plot points that were taken out of the theatrical version. But one big one that got left out of his HBO Max cut was Green Lantern, so this weekend he and actor Wayne T. Carr shared some behind-the-scenes pics of the John Stewart incarnation of the famed DC hero.
Snyder’s picture showed him with a small film team gathered around Carr on a makeshift green screen set in a driveway with Carr wearing a suit designed to be turned into the full Green Lantern outfit via CGI. Carr provided a closer look at that suit on Twitter with a picture of him between takes.
It wasn’t a dream!

Wayne T. Carr is a name you probably aren’t too familiar with, but that almost wasn’t the case. Despite not having much on-screen experience, Wayne was cast to play Green Lantern in the 2017 film Justice League. However, he was cut from the movie when Warner Brothers stepped in and expressed that they wanted to take the project in another direction. The role would’ve been a major break for Wayne and could have skyrocketed his career to new heights. Although the film was released a few years ago, it has become the topic of conversation again due to the director’s
