Paul Walter Hauser is the latest name to join Marvel’s latest iteration of ‘The Fantastic Four’.
Hauser joins the previously cast Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (aka the Thing).
Matt Shakman will take the director’s chair on the project which has a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Marvel Studios has dated the movie for July 25, 2025.
Hauser is certainly on a run at the moment, he has recently signed on the dotted line to play Chris Farley in the upcoming biopic directed by Josh Gad and landed a role in ‘The Naked Gun’ reboot, which boasts an ensemble led by Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson.
He will next be seen in Disney and Pixar’s ‘Inside Out 2’ as the voice of Embarrassment.

New Line Cinema has landed the Chris Farley biopic starring Paul Walter Hauser, in what Variety is told was a highly competitive situation.
The film, which has the blessing of the Farley family, will mark actor Josh Gad’s directorial debut, with Lorne Michaels and Erin David producing via Broadway Video.
Oscar and Emmy nominees Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber will write the screenplay based on the New York Times best-selling biography “The Chris Farley Show: A Biography in Three Acts” by Tom Farley Jr. (Chris Farley’s brother) and Tanner Colby.

Exclusive: The Sydney Sweeney & Paul Walter Hauser title, Americana, which was one of the prolific acquisition titles from last year’s SXSW, has finally seen its worldwide rights go to Lionsgate.
Why did a movie with big stars and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes take so long to sell? I understand part of the hold-up stems from the pic’s financier, Bron Studios, going into bankruptcy.
The Tony Tost written and directed movie follows local outsiders and outcasts in a small South Dakota town whose lives violently intertwine after a rare artifact falls onto the black market. Americana also stars pop singer Halsey, Eric Dane, Zahn McClarnon, Gavin Maddox Bergman, Simon Rex, Derek Hinkey, Toby Huss, and Harriet Sansom Harris.
Pic is produced by Alex Saks. EPs are Aaron L. Gilbert, Steven Thibault, Alison-Jane Roney, Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, Terry Dougas, and Jean-Luc de Fanti.

On Tuesday morning, Paul Walter Hauser is driving to Starbucks, “keeping it real” he says, in the wake of his brand new Emmy nomination for the role of serial killer Larry Hall in Apple TV+ limited series Black Bird, which already garnered Critics Choice and SAG Awards. It’s been “a very, very fun morning,” and there’s “a crazy amount to celebrate.”
It’s also a big day for SAG-AFTRA talks, and the threat of an actors’ strike looms. It can be tricky for actors to make public statements at this stage, not knowing what’s coming. But Hauser is not one for backing away from difficulty, as evidenced by his heavy-duty Black Bird role.
“I’m not going to be a coward and not say anything,” he says. “I guess what I would say is this: I love our studios and our streamers, and they have been tastemakers...

Ti West has locked in an all-star cast for his Mia Goth-led A24 horror pic MaXXXine, with Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.), Moses Sumney (The Idol), Michelle Monaghan (Nanny), Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher), Lily Collins (Emily in Paris), Halsey (Americana), Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul) and Kevin Bacon (City on a Hill) closing deals for roles.
MaXXXine is the third title in A24‘s first major horror franchise, on the heels of West’s films X and Pearl, both of which were released to much acclaim last year. The ’70s-set X had Goth pulling double duty as Maxine, who sees her pornography-shooting friends violently murdered in Texas, and one of their elderly assailants, Pearl. The latter film, set in 1918, meanwhile, served up an origin story for the latter villain character.

Sometimes it can be fun to watch a skillful band cover songs. Tony Tost’s Americana is precisely that: an ode to the drive-in B-movie which in turn influenced filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino, who in turn influenced a generation of filmmakers making quirky violent ensemble films with scrambled chronologies. What’s new is old again and Americana, influenced by films from the 1970s, feels more like a film from the 1990s with notes of Allison Anders’ Gas Food Lodging, David Lynch’s Wild at Heart, and the Kiefer Sutherland-directed neo-noir Truth or Consequences, N.M. The result, thanks in part to a compelling cast, elevates this material past the cinematic equivalent of the local dad band playing Springsteen covers at the corner bar on a Saturday night.

The theft of a valuable Native American artifact triggers a cascading series of violent crimes in Americana, a revisionist Western set in present-day South Dakota. Writer-director Tony Tost brings his years of experience on similarly themed episodic series like Damnation and Longmire to his directing debut, an ensemble feature with multiple overlapping storylines. The plot premise for Americana concerns a Lakota nation “ghost shirt,” a garment fashioned from animal skin that was thought to be instilled with special powers for adherents of the ghost dance, a late 19th century Native American religious movement.
Although stylistically and thematically a Western, the borderline comedic tone of Tost’s script, along with frequent gratuitous violence, rapid-fire dialogue and a non-linear narrative structure, suggest Americana is more of a hybrid crime drama in the Tarantino mold. The film’s appeal for genre enthusiasts should also be enhanced by the appearance of multi-platinum singer-songwriter Halsey in her first dramatic role,...

Chris Farley's death at 33 is an excruciatingly tragic showbiz tale, primarily because everyone saw it coming. He was a blazingly brilliant comedic dynamo who had us primed for convulsive laughter every time he stepped on stage or walked in front of a camera, yet off screen he was frequently being treated for his abuse of booze and drugs. The party rarely stopped for Farley, and despite a reported 17 trips to rehab for his various addictions, he kept the revels going until he overdosed on a speedball mix of cocaine and morphine in 1997 -- roughly the same concoction that killed fellow "Saturday Night Live" alum John Belushi 15 years earlier.
The tragedy of Farley's life has long been viewed as grist for a biopic, but the hurdles in bringing his story to the screen are the same that have plagued the making of a Belushi movie: who can capture the raw,...

There are few movie genres with as close a relationship with the concept of “Americana” as the Western. This is a genre deeply steeped in the history of American cinema, but one rife with as many highs as it has problematic lows. For every revolutionary and complex idea, there is a racist trope that has been intricately connected to the genre for decades; for every nuanced character, there is a broad and problematic one.
It is this legacy, the good and the bad, that writer and director Tony Tost wrestles with in “Americana,” , while never feeling derivative of either of the filmmakers. Tost’s film is charming, gritty, and all-round entertaining one that boasts gallows humor, compelling performances, and a big heart (plus lots of actual hearts being shot at and stabbed). Tost’s feature directorial debut shows confidence and an ability to weave the personal with the universal.

Last year, as the industry was looking to lift itself out the pandemic’s purgatory at the box office, SXSW lit the wick on A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, which wound up dynamiting the 18-34 hipster moviegoer set in what became the highest-grossing indie film of 2022, the best ever for the New York-based distributor, and now a potential Oscar Best Picture winner.

Sydney Sweeney says her favorite meme from Season 2 of “Euphoria” is the one from Cassie’s bathroom meltdown scene in episode three. “I would have to say it’s the ‘I’ve never ever been happier’ meme. I love that meme,” she told Variety on Saturday at the Canneseries TV festival, being held on France’s Côte d’Azur.
Asked what part of Cassie’s personality or backstory she would like to see explored in the next season of the show, she mentions a trait that was exposed in episode four of Season 2. “There was a bit of Cassie that I got to play with when she started saying that she’s crazier than Maddy in a scene with Nate. And she kind of got a little more evil and dark and serious, and not so frantic. I would love to play with more of that streak within herself.”

With the success of “Yellowstone” and basically everything else that Taylor Sheridan is working on, there is a clear desire for that down and dirty, country vibe project in Hollywood. According to Deadline, Sydney Sweeney, Halsey, Paul Walter Hauser, Simon Rex, Toby Huss, Gavin Maddox Bergman, Harriet Sansom Harris, and Derek Hinkey have all joined the ensemble cast of the upcoming film, “National Anthem.” The film will serve as the directorial debut of Tony Tost, who is probably best known for being a writer-producer on series such as “Longmire,” “Damnation,” and “The Terror.” “National Anthem” is said to be about a group of people on the hunt for a valuable Lakota Native American Ghost Shirt, with some people only looking to cash in on the item,...

Updated At 10:16 a.m. Pt: The WGA West has issued their own statement, signed by hundreds of showrunners. It can be read in its entirety below, but states in part:
“We agree that testing is paramount and the cornerstone of any return to work. We also find their suggestion of a zone system smart and essential – with one caveat: to reduce a director’s guesswork in trying to execute the Showrunner’s vision, and, therefore, reduce the number of reshoots, the involvement of the Showrunners and their writer proxies on the set is a must – either in person or if those with disability or underlying health issues are unable to be on set physically, with proper accommodations so they can still do their jobs effectively.”
Previously:
Guidelines from Hollywood unions on how to resume production amid the Covid-19 pandemic were released last week, but one group was noticeably left out: writers.

Ricky Jay, a singularly skilled magician whose acting career included roles in “Deadwood” and “Boogie Nights,” died in Los Angeles yesterday. He was 72. The news was confirmed by Jay’s manager, Winston Simone, who said that he died of natural causes and “was one of a kind. We will never see the likes of him again.”
“I am sorry to share that my remarkable friend, teacher, collaborator and co-conspirator is gone,” tweeted Michael Weber, Jay’s partner in the Deceptive Practices Company.
Jay was the subject of a 2012 documentary, “Deceptive Practice: The Mysteries and Mentors of Ricky Jay,” directed by Molly Bernstein. It explored his revered career as a magician, as did a 1993 New Yorker profile that referred to Jay as “perhaps the most gifted sleight of hand artist alive.” Those talents also brought him work as a behind-the-scenes consultant on movies like “The Prestige,” “The Illusionist,” and “Ocean’s Thirteen.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “Damnation’s” first two episodes, “Sam Riley’s Body” and “Whose Side Are You On?”]
As IndieWire wrote in its initial review of USA Network’s new Depression-era series, “Damnation” is anything but subtle. People die — a lot, horribly, and sometimes, even their corpses are carted around and posed a la Christ on the cross. Brothers pull guns on each other because their mutual hatred runs as deep as the Grand Canyon. Checking a man for infections at a local brothel includes pouring Listerine over his crotch. “Damnation” is a blunt, equal-opportunity offensive pulp Western, which is why the introduction of two potential romantic partners is the least romantic meet-cute ever imagined.
Loner Creeley Turner (Logan Marshall-Green), aka The Cowboy, wanders into Holden, Iowa in 1931. Sent by the Pinkerton agency to furtively take down unionization efforts by the local farmers, Creeley sets up shop in the most peculiar way: He goes to a roomful of prostitutes at the town’s brothel and holds up a...

USA Network TV series don't earn the kind of Nielsen ratings we see from the broadcast networks. Debuting tonight on USA Network, Damnation is a heartland-set tale straight out of the Great Depression that unfortunately ends up being as flat as the Great Plains themselves. USA Network’s newest original drama “Damnation” isn’t based on the Great Depression taught in schools nationwide. Instead, it’s a fictional account of cultural revolution. The network has released a new trailer for the series, which is set to premiere Tuesday, November 7 at 10/9 p.m.
“Damnation” tells the tale of Iowa preacher Seth Davenport (Killian Scott) who vows to instigate a farmer’s strike. “If your neighbor is siding with wealth,” Davenport pleads in the recently released trailer, “then you need to recognize that neighbor for what he is — the enemy.”
Seth fights corruption and corporate greed unknowingly beside a professional strikebreaker, Creeley Turner (Logan Marshall-Green), who has been hired by an industrialist tycoon. But as Turner and Davenport are set to squabble, those around them don’t know about their secret, violent past.

When did they go from "Characters Welcome" to "We the Bold"? First off, "We the Bold"? Come on. That's the best you got? Anyway. This new show Damnation seems pretty heavy.
It is definitely relevant due to its basis on the huge class difference that is tackled with the rich and poor, but it also has that wild west feel. Plus what looks to be a lot of murder. If you are interested in gritty American period pieces, here's the synopsis:

David Mackenzie is the latest feature filmmaker to make the jump to prestige television, directing the pilot of “Damnation,” a period drama about a revolutionary preacher. Heading to USA Network in October, the series pits the small town working man against fat cat business tycoons during the heyday of the industrial revolution. USA released its first trailer today, and although its too early to tell, the trailer makes “Damnation” a definite contender.
An epic saga set in the 1930’s American heartland, the series stars Killian Scott (“71”) as a rabble rouser masquerading as a small town preacher who hopes to start an insurrection agains the status quo. Unbeknownst to him, one tycoon has hired a professional strikebreaker (Logan Marshall-Green) to stop the uprising. Little do they know, they two men share a secret past.
