Toronto, Nov 1 (Ians) Triclosan, a chemical often included in household items like hand soaps, toothpastes, and cleaning products to fight off bacteria, has now been linked to antibiotic resistance.
According to the study by assistant Professor Hui Peng’s research group at University of Toronto, among thousands of co-occurring chemicals in the sludge, triclosan was found to be the predominant antibacterial compound impacting E. coli.
Antibiotic-resistant bacteria — also commonly known as “superbugs” — are strains of bacteria that are not killed by antibiotics.
They are produced when continuous exposure to antibiotics causes bacteria to evolve over several generations to survive antibiotic effects.
These bacteria can be very dangerous to humans, especially those with impaired immune systems. Between 2014 and 2016, there were 700,000 deaths around the world attributed to antibiotic resistance.

"This is our house - we are not about to die here!" Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a Halloween horror comedy called The Curse of Bridge Hollow, from director Jeff Wadlow. It looks like Netflix has made their own same concept, different characters version of the story also in Spirit Halloween: The Movie. A father and his teenage daughter are forced to team up and save their town after an ancient and mischievous spirit causes Halloween decorations to come to life and wreak havoc. The film stars Marlon Wayans and Priah Ferguson as the father and daughter, along with a fun comedy cast including Kelly Rowland, Rob Riggle, John Michael Higgins, Nia Vardalos, Lauren Lapkus, Holly J. Barrett, Myles Vincent Perez, Abi Monterey, and Helen Slayton-Hughes. Well, thankfully this doesn't look as bad as the usual Wayans comedies, but it still seems like dumb fun anyway. ›››

And it looks like our favorite coach, John Stamos‘ Maryvn Korn, has a lot more than just winning games to contend with as the Westbrook School for Girls officially goes co-ed. In Big Shot Season 2 on Disney+, “Korn returns to Westbrook with a new fire, ready to show that his basketball team belongs in D-2 and that he’s still the championship-winning, powerhouse coach he was in the NCAA,” the synopsis teases. “Marvyn’s latest plan toward relevance is to get his team broadcast on ESPN and his method is to recruit an unlikely player: Ava, a gutsy beach volleyball phenom whose public tantrum got her ousted from her own sport. Between losing their assistant coach Holly Barrett to a rival school, new friction amongst teammates, a sudden and unexpected proximity to boys, and...

Season 2 of sports comedy-drama Big Shot, headlined by John Stamos, will debut Oct. 12. The announcement was made during the Disney Branded Entertainment presentation at D23 by the division’s President Ayo Davis, who was joined on stage by Stamos.
Created by David E. Kelley, Dean Lorey and Brad Garrett, with Lorey serving as showrunner, Big Shot centers on Marvyn Korn (Stamos). After he is ousted from his position as head coach for an NCAA basketball team, he is given a chance at redemption with a coaching position at Westbrook, an elite private high school for girls, and soon learns that the teenage players require empathy and vulnerability – foreign concepts for the stoic Coach Korn.

“Big Shot” is the story of a once-successful but temperamental NCAA basketball coach who lands in hot water when he injures a referee. Add to it a failed marriage, and this hotshot coach is brought down a few pegs.
Now that he’s busted down to minor leagues, he needs to coach the sports team of an all-girls high school. But there’s a caveat — those kids don’t take him seriously. As the dramedy moves on, he magically finds his way back and ends up having a phenomenal redemption arc. “Big Shot” is a true depiction of how second chances can be life-changing.
The series debuted on Disney+ on April 16, 2021. David E. Kelley, Bill D’Elia, Dean Lorey, and Brad Garrett are the executive producers of “Big Shot.” ABC Signature is the studio. It is rumored that the production for season two will kickstart somewhere in 2022.

For the first time this year, CBS comedy Life In Pieces was left on the bubble for renewal. After some lengthy and difficult negotiations between the network and series producer 20th Century Fox TV, the comedy has been picked up for a fourth season.
The family comedy has delivered solid ratings in its third season, though, while two other Thursday series, Mom and S.W.A.T., have improved their time periods vs. last season, Life In Pieces has not. Still, Lip is well received and features a very strong ensemble cast. It also is the fourth highest-rated and most watched CBS comedy series behind The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon and Mom, likely helped by its Thursday location.
Created by Justin Adler, Life in Pieces, from 20th TV and Kapital Entertainment, is a comedy about one big happy family and their sometimes awkward, often hilarious and ultimately beautiful milestone...

We're just going to guess that no one in the Hughes family is going to be invited back to the Grammys any time soon. In this week's episode of Life in Pieces, Tim (Dan Bakkedahl) gets backstage passes to the Grammys, thanks to his patient, singer Charlie Puth. He takes his daughter, Samantha (Holly Barrett), in order to impress her, but in our exclusive sneak peek above, she seems a lot more mortified than impressed when a leather-clad Tim sneaks them into Puth's dressing room and starts breaking things and singing about his underwear (which is plaid). Then, Puth shows up, and things only get worse from there. If we were Charlie Puth, we would probably have been a...

Andy Richter is everything you wanted in a high school drama teacher -- or everything you wanted to avoid.
The 50-year-old comedian guest stars on this week's episode of Life in Pieces, playing Samantha's (Holly J. Barrett) high school musical director, Julius Black, who brings an interesting approach to the school's upcoming performance of Silence of the Lambs: The Musical.
Exclusive: Victor Ortiz and Jasmine Tookes Teach Samantha to Embrace Her 'Girl Power' on 'Life in Pieces'
Unfortunately, Sam gets cast as Clarice's understudy in the production, prompting Heather (Betsy Brandt) to try and confront Julius about the decision.
"Look, Mrs. Hughes. If this is about the part of Clarice, I can't discuss it," Julius tells Heather while running rehearsals. "We at the school have a strict Pnis policy. We're very firm!"
"You have a what?!" Heather asks, clearly confused.
"A Pnis policy: Parental Non-Involvement at School?" he snaps back...

Life in Pieces is about to get a little more star power.
Et has an exclusive look at Thursday's episode, in which John (James Brolin) teaches Samantha (Holly J. Barrett) to cut class -- with the help of a few famous guest stars.
Exclusive: 'Life in Pieces' Star Thomas Sadoski Gets Back to His Country Roots in Retro Photo Shoot
"I hate ballet. Mom did what she always does, sign me up, and then tell me I have to go, because she already signed me up," Samantha complains as John drops her off for class.
"Well, Mom does that to me with karaoke," John jokes. "Hey, you wanna play hooky?"
Of course, John's version of hooky includes a trip to the boxing gym, where world and national boxing champion Victor Ortiz and Victoria's Secret Angel Jasmine Tookes just happen to work out -- and encourage Sam to ditch ballet for a little "girl power."
