Camelot Media has set action-adventure film franchise “The Lost Book of Creation.”
Roel Reine will direct the first film of the planned three-film franchise. Matt Hookings (“Prizefighter”) has written the script and will also star alongside Madalina Diana Ghenea. The film follows archaeologists Slade (Hookings) and Eve (Ghenea) as they set out to find the legendary lost Book of Creation, which is believed to hold the secrets of the universe and the answer to why and how humankind exists.
Hookings and Ghenea will be joined by comedian and actor Bobby Lee and Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall (“Expend4bles”), who won the 2017 World’s Strongest Man competition.
In 2023, Camelot, the company behind Amazon film “Prizefighter,” featuring Ray Winstone and Russell Crowe, secured financial support from Malta Enterprise, who are responsible for the country’s economic development. Gravitas Ventures gave the shark thriller Deep Fear a VOD release in the United States and Canada on November 3rd, and the movie also received a release through the Netflix streaming service in Brazil earlier this month. If you haven’t taken a look at Deep Fear yet, we have a clip to share with you that might get you to give it a chance. The clip can be seen in the embed above and features a shark burying its face in a load of cocaine, bringing to mind this year’s earlier “nature run amok” release Cocaine Bear.
Directed by Marcus Adams (Long Time Dead) from a screenplay written by Robert Capelli Jr. (The Rules (for Men)) and Sophia Eptamentis (Invincible Summer), Deep Fear centers on Naomi, a yachtswoman embarking on a solo trip in the Caribbean. Her last stop is Grenada, where she plans to rendezvous with her boyfriend Jackson,...

Like Jaws before it, the release of Cocaine Bear earlier this year has resulted in a slew of natural horror films, many of which are using the same conceit of an animal driven to extreme behavior by the consumption of narcotics. Projects already in production include Crackcoon and the delayed Methgator, created by The Asylum. You can probably guess their plots.
One animal-on-drugs movie that has already seen release is Cocaine Shark. Whereas that film treated its subject matter with an unabashedly schlocky approach, though, the more recent Deep Fear takes a similar gimmick and plays it with a straighter face. It could be the perfect post-summer movie for anyone who wants a fun cinematic trend taken a little more seriously.

Deep Fear, not to be confused with last year’s film about monsters under the streets of Paris (which is probably why they added the “Sharks vs Narcs” subtitle to the film for its digital release), is a call back to the shark films of the past. Not to Jaws or its imitators but to something earlier, like Shark!, Shark’s Treasure, and The Deep where the sharks were a secondary plot element, an added threat for the protagonists to face in addition to other humans.
In the case of Deep Fear that would be Naomi whom we first see showing her co-worker Barney how easily a reef shark can be steered away from people. When she surfaces her partner Jackson that he’s booked another tour.

Exclusive: After launching in Cannes, financier Ashland Hill Media Finance has come aboard to co-finance Rupert Sanders’ reboot of The Crow, starring Bill Skarsgård, FKA Twigs and Danny Houston.
Ashland Hill, which was set up by producers Joe Simpson, Simon Williams and Jonathan Bross, helped close finance on the reboot, which recently went into post-production.
Based on James O’Barr’s original graphic novel, the film charts the story of a brutally murdered man who comes back to life as an undead avenger of his and his fiancée’s murder. The script for the modern re-imagining was penned by Oscar nominee Zach Baylin (King Richard). CAA Media Finance reps domestic on the revenge-thriller. FilmNation is repping international. The tragic 1994 version, which starred the late Brandon Lee, became a cult classic.
Meanwhile, Ashland Hill has also come aboard to finance Louis Mandylor’s 3 Days in Malay, Brandon Slagle’s The Flood and Neil Marshall’s Duchess.

Chicago – When a film tries to be philosophical, it easily can devolve into heavy handedness. But the exception is the latest from writer/director Paolo Sorrentino, the richly presented “Youth.” It treads upon many definitions of the title, and lands upon all of them, because that’s life.
Rating: 5.0/5.0
Sorrentino’s last feature film was the underrated “This Must Be the Place” (2011), another meditative work that featured Sean Penn. This film features older actors Michael Caine, Harvey Keitel and Jane Fonda as representatives of different life phases in their golden age, each searching for something that remains a bit elusive. The great young actor Paul Dano adds his particular spice, this time in a reactive character rather than a antagonist, and he handles one of the most surprising scenes with perfect energy. The film is awash with imagery that fortifies the director’s point of view in the story, and...

Cannes — Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino has already dipped his toe into the familiar genre of characters of a certain age reminiscing about the good old days with 2013's "The Great Beauty." He even won an Oscar for it. Two years later he returns to the Cannes Film Festival with "Youth," a follow-up that stands besides "Great Beauty" thematically while also presenting a decidedly different point of view. “Youth” starts off with The Retrosettes Sister Band performing a cover of “You Got the Love," interpreted in a retro style and a twist on the old adage “everything old is new again.” In this case, everything new is old again, a theme that may or may not apply to the central characters in Sorrentino’s cinematic opera. The movie centers on Fred Ballinger (Michael Caine), a legendary British composer and conductor, and Mick Boyle (Harvey Keitel), a famous American film director. Friends for 60 years,...

Jane Fonda and Rachel Weisz are the leading ladies in Italian director Paolo Sorrentino's Youth, which debuted for press today at the Cannes Film Festival. They star in the epic film along with Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel, who respectively play an aging composer and director questioning the end of both their careers and younger years. It's a lavish and indulgent ensemble piece, much anticipated at Cannes after Sorrentino's last film, The Great Beauty, won the best foreign language award at the 2014 Oscars. Jane's character Brenda, an aging actress who appears overly made up, dressed to the nines, and clad in a big, blond wig, was a hot topic at the press conference following today's screening. Journalists were curious as to whether or not Jane was afraid to play someone who, on the surface, seems to be barely keeping her wits together. "There is something very vulnerable about an...

Model turned actress Madalina Diana Ghenea has caught Cannes' attention with her bottom – on beautiful display on the poster for Paolo Sorrentino's competition title Youth – but soon her acting, and not just her posterior, will come into sharp focus. Ghenea has three new projects lined up, including two starring roles and a supporting part in a major Hollywood production. She will shoot them back-to-back-to-back through October this year. Ghenea will play the lead in Condemned to Love, the directorial debut of Oscar-winning screenwriter Barry Morrow (Rain Man), which she describes as a “magical

Oh, the curse of being an attractive film star! Nobody takes you seriously. Those poor, pretty people! Enough with the bitter sarcasm, I know, but there’s more than a bit of truth in it, especially for actresses. Often Oscar has rewarded them for “glamming-down”! Charlize Theron gained weight, wore fake choppers, and endured hours in the make-up chair for Monster and took home the gold as did Nicole Kidman when she donned a phony “schnozzola” in The Hours. And there’s reward in tackling a role from the down-trodden classes as Halle Berry did in Monster’S Ball. Of course, this is not exclusive actress strategy. Brad Pitt scored a nomination for his twitchy turn in 12 Monkeys and just a few weeks ago mega-hunk Matthew McConaghuey grabbed Best Actor for going gaunt and sickly for Dallas Buyers Club. With Dom Hemingway Brit glamour guy Jude Law has forsaken his...

Chicago – “Dom Hemingway” begins with a tight close-up on a barely recognizable Jude Law, portraying the title character. He’s giving a monologue, literally spraying the words. When the circumstance is revealed as to what is happening to him, there is an awareness that this is not going to be your Daddy’s petty safecracker ex-con film.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
With a style and depth that creates its own distinct energy, “Dom Hemingway” is a party wrapped with a cinematic bow, along with Jude Law providing the performance of his career, considering how different it is from his usual characters. Dom Hemingway the man invents his own moral code, and the way the rest of the world reacts to that code is the basis for the barely put together “plot.” The overall effect feels like a groovy film from the 1960s, except with much more violence, swearing and carnal knowledge. The Dom is a trip.

Vacant Domicile: Shepard’s Latest Hides Absence of Narrative Behind Titular Character
As foul mouthed and over-the-top as it sometimes tends to be, Richard Sheperd’s latest, Dom Hemingway falls a bit short absurd glory, considering the balls out bravado it promises prior to the opening credits. While it features perhaps one of the best performances of Jude Law’s career, its raunchy energy fizzles out by the mid-point as it switches gears from uneasy gangster flick to family dramedy. That’s not say it isn’t without merit, as even though the plot can’t get it together, Shepherd’s got a knack for engaging dialogue and entertaining characterization, something the film tends to bank on a bit too broadly.

Here is a new trailer [here was the first] for Richard Shepard’s (The Matador) Dom Hemingway starring Jude Law. It’s a green-band trailer so it’s not showing you the outrageous stuff which you can check out below in the red-band trailer. Law is released from prison and goes to get the hush money he’s owed but things don’t always go according to plan as he very well knows by now right? For the GoT fans out there, Emilia Clarke also stars in the flick!
Jude Law plays Dom Hemingway, a larger-than-life safecracker with a loose fuse who is funny, profane, and dangerous. After twelve years in prison, he sets off with his partner in crime Dickie (Richard E. Grant) looking to collect what he’s owed for keeping his mouth shut and protecting his boss Mr. Fontaine (Demian Bichir). After a near death experience, Dom tries to re-connect with...

This is the Pure Movies review of Dom Hemingway, directed by Richard Shepard and starring Jude Law, Richard E. Grant, Demian Bichir, Emilia Clarke, Jumayn Hunter and Madalina Diana Ghenea. Written by Gabriella Apicella for Pure Movies. Jude Law’s vicious, eloquent, explicit, uninhibited and revoltingly arrogant rant at the opening of Dom Hemingway encapsulates much of what is enacted over the subsequent 100 minutes. While Law’s sophisticated foppishness re-fashioned into the dated three-piece suit of a loud-mouthed potbellied cockney hardman is almost hypnotically captivating for the first 15 minutes, these incongruities with the normally suave actor cannot carry attention alone.

I had a really good time with Dom Hemingway at the Toronto Film Festival this year, opening my review saying it "feels like a second cousin to Nicolas Winding-Refn's Bronson. Albeit it's not as good (how could it bec), but Jude Law's title character carries the same gruff, deep British accent Tom Hardy adopted for Bronson and the batsh*t nature of the two characters is damn near exactly the same." You get a small taste of what the film has to offer in this first trailer for the movie's upcoming November 2013 UK release, but the film is laced with so much profanity and filthy behavior there is no way to create a trailer that isn't R-rated and give you an idea of exactly what's in store. In fact, the trailer sells it as a film revolving around Dom's money being stolen. I guess, you could say that's what the story is about,...

There were few films at Tiff this year as brazenly filthy and outrageous as "Dom Hemingway," and certainly fewer as enjoyable. And while release date schedules dictate that the movie still won't arrive stateside until next year, overseas, audiences will be the first to dive into the fun, and a new trailer is here to highlight what's in store. But don't make any quick judgments on the movie based on this trailer which doesn't really do the tone of "Dom Hemingway" justice. Written and directed by Richard Shepherd, the man behind "The Matador," Jude Law stars as the titular Dom, a man just released from a long stint in prison, doing time on behalf of his former boss Mr. Fontaine (Demian Bichir). He's eager to get what he's owed for keeping his mouth shut, but that's just the start of a journey that sees the volatile, boozy, sex-crazed Dom crossing...

The first trailer for Dom Hemingway, the new crime comedy from director Richard Shepard (The Matador) has arrived, bringing us a surly, grizzled, and menacingly funny Jude Law in the titular role, along with a diversely cool supporting cast, including Richard E. Grant, Demian Bichir, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys in HBO's Game of Thrones), Madalina Diana Ghenea, and Kerry Condon. The proceedings look like a really fun, rough time, keeping perfectly in sync with Shepard's previous...

Dom Hemingway
Written by Richard Shepard
Directed by Richard Shepard
UK, 2013
Richard Shepard’s Dom Hemingway has a premise worthy of a great mobster movie: a cockney safe-cracker is released after over a decade behind bars and sets out to retrieve his payout for not ratting out his mob employer. With Jude Law giving his all in the rage-fueled titular role and Richard E. Grant as a scene-stealing lackey/voice of reason, the film could have found itself in league with Goodfellas, Sexy Beast, and so on. Unfortunately, Dom Hemingway falters during the second half as sentiment sets in and levels the larger-than-life characters so much that even a miraculous stroke of luck can’t bring Dom or the story back to its previous heights. But the crash and slow burn is well worth it to see Jude Law at his raunchy best.
Twelve years in prison can do a lot to a man.

Just figuring out my schedule this year was a chore as the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival organizers certainly didn't make it easy on us. Loaded with conflicts, I've had to make two sacrifices at this year's festival in that I won't be seeing Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom of Parkland due to scheduling conflicts and one film simply has to be chosen over another. However, as I've already seen two of the films playing at the festival in Rush and Kill Your Darlings -- reviews will be posted based on the film's first screenings in Toronto -- I was able to open up my schedule a little following my first, preliminary schedule. Earlier today I posted my new schedule, which currently includes 27 films with a few gaps here and there where other films may fit in, or I may simply be able to catch up on reviews. Either way, I...
