‘The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die’ (2023). Netflix Movie: epic, yes, without being spectacular
The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die is a movie directed by Edward Bazalgettestarring Alexander Dreymon, Mark Rowley and Arnas Fedaravicius.
It is based on the novel by Bernard Cornwell.
As it is becoming usual in well-known series, Netflix gives us this story that, set in The Las Kingdom, will delight the fans who enjoy the series and its great plot.
Historical novels are a hit, and thanks to authors like Bernard Cornwell, the quality of their plots and arguments were assured. Moreover, readers loved them and The Last Kingdom is a great example of this.
The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die (2023)
After Vikings, this story of Saxons and Vikings was a success in its serial format and now it comes as a two-hour episode that can be watched independently, but that you will enjoy much more if you are fans of the excellent TV series.
Is it the spectacle we were hoping?...

Nine years ago, Universal released a supernatural action comedy called R.I.P.D.: Rest in Peace Department, which didn’t do much at the box office despite starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. Made on a budget somewhere in the 150 million range, R.I.P.D. only earned 78.3 million worldwide. It was considered a bomb… but that hasn’t stopped Universal from making a direct-to-video sequel. Made completely under the radar, the sequel is called R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned – and it has already been screened for the ratings board at the Motion Picture Association, earning a PG-13 rating for “sequences of violence, language, disturbing images and some crude/sexual references“.
According to IMDb, R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned was directed by Paul Leyden (Chick Fight) from a screenplay he wrote with Andrew Klein. Since the film was made in secrecy, a plot...

Sasha’s father has just died and as the last of her line she’s gotten everything. So she and her husband Peter hop a flight to Kyiv to check out part of the inheritance. A large townhouse that originally belonged to her grandfather. It’s a huge, beautiful, townhouse in the center of the city. Which means the fact it’s sat empty since he for so long should be a hint that there’s something wrong. The glares from people on the street as they arrive should be another. The housekeeper’s elusiveness when asked about these things should have them sleeping in a hotel.
Writer/directors Chad Barager and Kevin Speckmaier don’t waste any time confirming our suspicions that the building is indeed haunted.

There seems to be a flood of haunted house films out this year, and they're not all a result of the claustrophobia of lockdown, with most in the works before that. Chad Barager and Kevin Speckmaier's The Inheritance adds the popular complication of having its English-speaking lead characters come into possession of a property overseas where they have to deal with unfamiliar traditions, lack of knowledge about local power structures and difficulty communicating with those around them. This time it's Kyiv, where Sasha's (Natalia Ryumina) family came from two generations back. She has been left an extensive estate which includes a vast apartment building close to the heart of the city. Her husband Peter (Nick Wittman) assumes she's going to sell it, but she's still unsure - something about it calls to her.
It's the sort of place that would call to most people. If you have a passion for.

Cannes-based Fizz-e-Motion, headed by Yannick Rudynski and Luke Corradine, has picked up sales rights to Australian crime thriller “Locusts.”
Directed by Heath Davis, the film stars Ben Geurens (“Reign”) and Jessica McNamee, and is produced and written by Angus Watts.
The pic centers on tech entrepreneur Ryan Black, who returns to his remote hometown for his father’s funeral. Old family tensions are reignited as he’s reunited with his wise-cracking ex-con brother. When Ryan becomes the target of an extortion scam at the hands of desperate criminals, he is forced to resort to extreme measures.
The film, which is being distributed in Australia by Bonsai Films, won best film, cinematography, supporting actor (Justin Rosniak) and producer at the Cult Critic Magazine Awards. It screened at the Gold Coast Film Festival and Newport Beach Film Festival.
