When Andre Agassi was rising the ranks as a professional tennis player — en route to becoming one of the greatest American men to ever hit the circuit — he often felt forced to defend his hometown of Las Vegas.
“I was born and raised here,” Agassi said last Saturday during a press conference to promote The Netflix Slam featuring superstars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz. “When I turned pro in 1,972 years ago, there was about 300,000 people that lived in this town. I would travel the world representing Vegas, having to answer some very basic questions such as, ‘What’s it like to live in a hotel?’ It was like, wait a second, Vegas is more than just a strip [of hotels]. To watch it evolve to a point where now we’re seeing not just sports come here, but we’re seeing the greatest environments for sports to participate in the Super Bowl and Formula 1 now here.

“Ok, I can die now.”
So said a woman seated behind The Hollywood Reporter inside Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, host of the inaugural The Netflix Slam. She had just snapped a selfie that captured superstars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz warming up on center court over her shoulder. Sure, it was a dramatic statement but it wasn’t obscene for such an occasion. There’s no shortage of gasp-worthy moments in Sin City, and there’s no doubt many of the 9,489 seated guests could relate to the sentiment.
The Sunday afternoon showdown, the latest in Netflix’s push for live streaming events, pitted two superstar Spaniards in an exhibition match that could be one of the final few times they meet across a net. The fact that it happened was a bit of a coup, too, as it was rescheduled last year due to Nadal...

Stan Wawrinka was in high spirits after his win at the Cincinnati Masters , stealing the show with his post-match interview on the Tennis Channel.
Stan Wawrinka endured a few tough seasons on the Atp Tour in recent years as he dealt with several injuries and surgeries. It's why you'll rarely catch him without a bright smile this year, as he's simply enjoying life right now. Being on a tennis court and playing the sport he loves is fantastic for him, and it's been going well.
He recently made a final in Umag , where he won his maiden trophy many years ago. Unfortunately, it was a losing effort but a very emotional moment for Wawrinka as it was a full-circle moment. What's interesting about that maiden final many years ago was that it foreshadowed what we'll see about a decade later.
Wawrinka took on Djokovic in that final and ended up with the trophy,...

Aryna Sabalenka is competing at the 2023 Madrid Open and after her most recent win she was in a good mood as always.
It's almost impossible to see the 24-year-old Belarusian without a smile on her face as she always laughs and brings good energy wherever she moves. One of those places was also a post-match interview with Tennis Channel at the 2023 Madrid Open in which Sabalenka discussed many different things.
In the third round of the tournament, Sabalenka defeated Camila Osorio in two sets, but her next opponent will be a real challenge. The world no. 2 will take on only 16-year-old prodigy Mirra Andreeva, who showed that she's not afraid ahead of their clash.
But during her interview with Prakash Amritraj, Sabalenka got back to one moment that took place a few days ago at the 2023 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. For the third consecutive year, she lost in...

Taylor Fritz has dismissed the idea of pursuing the increasingly popular sport of pickleball.
The revelation came after Fritz's commanding victory over Emilio Nava at the 2023 Miami Open, where the 25-year-old, currently ranked as the World No. 10, needed just under an hour to secure a 6-4, 6-1 win and advance to the third round of the event.
During a post-match interview with Prakash Amritraj on the Tennis Channel, Fritz was asked about his off-court interests and whether he'd been practicing pickleball, given his impressive performance on the court. Fritz revealed that it was only his second time playing the sport, much to Amritraj's astonishment, who initially asked:
“You looked pretty good on the pickleball court. My question is, have you put in much time on the pickleball court?"
When queried about the possibility of investing more time in pickleball, Fritz dismissed the idea, stating that it was far too simple...
