Selena Gomez has seen her “Only Murders in the Building” co-stars and guest stars get nominated for and win Emmys the past two years while she sat on the sidelines. The scripting was heavy as American Idol entered its fifth week of Season 21 auditions on Sunday, an episode which ended with a cliffhanger that felt a little too produced for my liking.
Fire Wilmore, a 22-year-old single mother from Oklahoma, was the final contestant of the evening, and the show played her up big time. We got her entire backstory about entering into state custody because of her own mother’s drug problems. We heard how desperately she wants to get out of exotic dancing and give a better future to her daughter. We even watched Fire teach her 4-year-old charmer how wishing wells work.

Moore is set to star in and EP Twin Flames, a new series inspired by the hit Wondery podcast, Deadline reports.
Additionally, Moore has signed a new pod deal for her Roll With the Punches Productions with 20th Television.
“Mandy is one of those rare and exceptionally talented artists who’s as brilliant on the screen as she is off, with a keen eye and natural instinct for uncovering fascinating material,” said Karey Burke, President, 20th Television in a statement.
“Working with Mandy over the course of her award-winning six years on This Is Us, cemented our desire to extend our relationship with her, and we are incredibly excited to develop projects together in the years to come.

The Pearsons may be gone, but they’re certainly not forgotten. A whopping 19 “This Is Us” cast members have been submitted by NBC on the 2022 Emmys ballot, including all of the core adult family members. That number includes three lead performers: Sterling K. Brown as Randall Pearson, Milo Ventimiglia as Jack Pearson and Mandy Moore as Rebecca Pearson. In years past, Justin Hartley as Kevin Pearson has also dabbled in lead, but for this final season he’s competing in supporting. One fan-fave guest star was not submitted on the Emmy ballot and thus cannot be nominated: 2017 winner Gerald McRaney, who returned in the penultimate episode as the ghost of lemonade-loving Dr. K.

I remember my mom begging me to watch "This Is Us" back when it first hit the air in 2016, and as soon as I tuned in, I became forever intertwined with the story of the Pearson family. Part of what makes this show so heartwarmingly unique is the family's diversity and the wide range of challenges the characters endure throughout the series. It provides a viewing experience where anyone and everyone watching can find a character to relate to in one way or another. The show's wholesome nature and endless parallels between the Pearsons' story and any family were what made it so special. After six years of captivating hearts nationwide, the emotional series finale of "This Is Us" aired on May 24 and left me with a reminder of exactly why I connected so deeply with this make-believe family from the very beginning.

Makeup department head Zoe Hay and hair department head Michael Reitz accepted a unique creative opportunity when they joined NBC’s “This Is Us” six years ago. They were tasked with aging family matriarch Rebecca Pearson, played by Mandy Moore, from age 16 to 80. “It was an unusual challenge,” Hay says, recalling the early days of the show, which just concluded its final season.
The family drama, which has earned 38 Primetime Emmy nominations including four for hair and makeup, is a multigenerational story that spans more than six decades and centers on the Pearson family at various points in their lives. The Pearsons’ story unfolds in a nonlinear way, and when Hay and Reitz signed on, no one realized what the work would entail — nor how many hours it would take. Between skull caps and wig placement, it often took about 60 minutes just to get Moore’s hair right.

NBC finally drew the curtain on its hit-series “This is Us” on May 24, 2022. The series finale of the tear-jerking drama series aroused gloomy reactions across the board — fans and casts alike, “This is Us” is our favorite thing.
The words of William Hill’s ghost to Rebecca Pearson in the final episode sums up how we all feel. “The way I see it, If something makes you sad when it ends, it must have been pretty wonderful when it was happening.”
Pretty wonderful might be an understatement when describing a show that held its audience spellbound from the moment its trailer was released online — nearly 80 million views within two weeks.
In its first season, the multiple award winning family drama series averaged 15.3 million viewers. And even though the figures have dropped over the years, there are still a few shows with such a cult following like “This is Us.”

This Is Us said goodbye to Rebecca Pearson on Tuesday's series finale, and it turns out Mandy Moore had a therapeutic way of saying goodbye to the character she's played for six seasons.
During an interview with TV Line, Moore revealed that she attended Rebecca's funeral.
“I did make an appearance. I just popped in because we were shooting a scene later in the day, and I just wanted to be there,” Moore explained to the outlet.
“Some of my friends were wrapping,” the star added of her co-stars who were shooting their last-ever scenes on the hit drama series.
“It was really strange, very meta, being present at someone’s — like, your own — funeral and hearing what someone would say about you,” she explained.
“It was really beautiful… It was nice to be around. The entire cast was there.”
This Is Us concluded heartbreakingly this week on its own terms.

Audiences said goodbye to the Pearson family Tuesday night, as the series finale of “This Is Us” brought their story to a close. The emotional episode, titled “Us,” tugged on enough heartstrings to make it the most-watched and highest-rated show of the night. The finale aired at 9 p.m. on NBC to a whopping 1.27 rating in the key 18-49 demographic and 6.4 million total viewers, according to official live + same day Nielsen numbers. That’s a season high for the series (and just a really high demo rating in general), easily beating a record previously set by the Jan. 4 season premiere, which saw a 1.0 rating and 5.3 million total viewers. It’s also the best demo rating since Season 5 Episode 2 and the largest audience since Season 5 Episode 3, which both aired in November 2020. The penultimate episode of Season 6, in which the show said goodbye to matriarch Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) is now the third highest-rated of the season.

In last Tuesday’s This Is Us, as Rebecca neared the end of her time on Earth, an old friend showed up to offer a sort of benediction. “You’re as tough as they come, Rebecca Pearson,” Dr. K told her, smiling kindly. “And you, my dear, have earned a rest.”
Now, on the eve of the NBC drama’s series finale, the hour has arrived to swap out “Rebecca Pearson” for “Mandy Moore,” and “a rest” for “some Emmy love.” In other words: It’s time for Moore to get the respect and admiration she’s surely earned over the past six seasons.

This Is Us concludes for good Tuesday, May 24, but many scenes on This Is Us Season 6 Episode 18 were not filmed this year.
Mandy Moore, who has played Rebecca Pearson on all six seasons, shared in an interview with Deadline that parts of the episode were shot years ago.

Rebecca was written out on This Is Us Season 6 Episode 17, with the character reuniting with Jack in the afterlife.
If you watch This Is Us online, you know the episode tugged at the heartstrings.
The good news is that the pair will be present on the last-ever installment.

“This Is Us” said goodbye to Mandy Moore’s Rebecca Pearson Tuesday — and so did many, many NBC viewers.
The second-to-last episode of the Dan Fogelman-created family drama drew a 0.95 rating in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic and 5.3 million viewers, according to Live + Same Day ratings from Nielsen. The Pearson family said goodbye to its matriarch during Tuesday night’s penultimate episode of “This Is Us.”
Mandy Moore’s Rebecca Pearson died with her family by her side in an emotional episode, which began to tie up the story ahead of next week’s series finale. The episode took place in two locations — by her bedside as she took her last breaths, and on a train, where a younger version of Rebecca is seen reminiscing about her life.
The episode ends with a sweet reunion, as Rebecca heads to the back of the train and is met by her first husband, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia).
Moore shared a photo from the final scene on social media following the episode, writing: “‘If something makes you sad when it ends, it must have been pretty wonderful when it was happening’… and with that, one last car. The caboose.”
