"When shots are fired, the conflict erupts into the bloody Lincoln County War. Amidst the fighting, Billy will struggle to hang onto his soul—and to the love of his life."
"The other side has the advantage," Billy declares in the action-packed trailer.
"You're farmers," he adds.
"Jesse Evans and his gang are all practiced killers."

Billy the Kid will be back on TV screens very soon.
MGM+ this week that Billy the Kid Season 2 will debut on Sunday, October 15, at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.
There is a little bit of a catch:
Four episodes of the season will air this year, with the final four being held until 2024.
A reason for the decision has not been revealed, but there's a good chance it has something to do with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

[Warning: The below contains spoilers from The Ark’s Season 1 finale Everybody Wins.] To say the crew of Ark One has been through some stuff since their unexpected early wake-up call is an understatement. We’re talking about a lack of supplies, mechanical issues, asteroids, attempted coups and mutinies, murders, and mysterious illnesses. Out of catastrophe and immeasurable loss, friendships and romantic relationships were severed and formed. Set 100 years in the future, The Ark sees a colonization mission to save the human race go awry. Leadership aboard Ark One perished from a disastrous breach in their chamber. Awaking prematurely from their cryo-pods, lieutenants Sharon Garnet (Christie Burke), Spencer Lane (Reece Ritchie), James Brice (Richard Fleeshaman), and Felix Strickland (Pavle Jerinić) must find a way to ensure their remaining crew’s survival. By the finale, Garnet had taken on the role of captain with things seemingly moving in the right direction after a deal was brokered with...

The Ark opened with impressive effects but a tired story.
The Ark Season 1 Episode 1 told a familiar story of a crew in stasis being woken early unintentionally.
Sadly, the show didn't add anything new to this overused plot device.
Going into the series, there was a sense of familiarity. Passengers waking up from their extended stasis before they're supposed to? A mission to find a new world? A random stowaway? If these tropes feel familiar, it's because they are.
Passengers (2016) is the *exact* plot, while many other forms of media use similar tropes/stories. So, does The Ark add anything to this trope? Not really.
The Ark has a few things going for it concerning the solid female lead and the respectable special effects. It's established early on that Christie Burke's as Lt. Sharon Garnet took control.
Burke gives her all to the role and elevates a lot of the disappointing dialogue,...

If you love shows set in the future, with high stakes and plenty of mysteries, chances are you’ll want to tune in to The Ark, premiering February 1 on Syfy, because series stars Christie Burke (Lt. Sharon Garnet), Richard Fleeshman (Lt. James Brice), and Reece Ritchie (Lt. Spencer Lane) promised all that and more when they sat down with TV Insider’s Damian Holbrook at the Television Critics Association 2023 Winter Press Tour. The series, created by Dean Devlin (who serves as co-showrunner with Jonathan Glassner), takes place 100 years in the future, when planetary colonization missions are necessary to help secure the survival of the human race. The first of these missions is on a spacecraft known as Ark One, which encounters a catastrophic event causing massive destruction and loss of life — and there’s still more than a year to go before they reach their target planet. “From the very...

Space travel used to be romantic, both in real life and pop culture. These days, space travel is kind of a bummer. In the real world, rocketship rides are now most associated with billionaires, for whom such trips represent one small step for objectivism and one giant leap for their egos. Meanwhile, on television, NASA is getting spanked by Russia in the space race, and most shows are about voyagers who only venture beyond the atmosphere out of desperation. Whatever happened to genuine interstellar wanderlust?
If anyone was going to bring back Roddenberry-style space romps about quixotic adventurers for whom exploring the unexplored is its own reward, it would be Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner. Devlinco-wrote 1994’s “Stargate,” while Glassner helped adapt the film into the durable drama “Stargate: Sg-1.” Both are avowed Trekkies who have spent the bulk of their careers making deep space exploration look rewarding relative to its risk.

Syfy has often had many different Space Operas, and The Ark now joins the ranks.
The Ark follows the crew of Ark One, which accidentally woke up early from their colonization trip.
With more than a year before reaching their target planet, a lack of life-sustaining supplies, and loss of leadership, the remaining crew must become the best versions of themselves to stay on course and survive.
In our first interview, the leads, Christie Burke, Richard Fleeshman, and Reece Ritchie, sat down with us to discuss their leading-roles as the de-facto leadership.
Each of their characters, Lt. Garnet, Lt, Brice, Lt. Lane respecitively, got thrown into leadership roles after the incident. Check out the interview video below!

TV Fanatic also got to sit down with Christina Wolfe and Shalini Peiris, two other stars in the series.

Initially, Syfy’s The Ark is a rough ride — and not only because the premiere episode opens with a catastrophic event that destroys much of the spaceship it’s set on, along with most of its passengers.
Its premise feels borrowed from countless other sci-fi tales. Its heroes seem to have been plucked half-formed from a factory of tired tropes. And its tone is off somehow, as if showrunners Dean Devlin (Leverage) and Jonathan Glassner (Stargate Sg-1) haven’t yet decided whether to lean into the grimness of its survival drama, or into the jarring uplift of its credits theme.
Yet just as the ship’s crew begin to rise to the occasion, so too do their series’ disparate elements. The Ark may never be admired for its thematic profundity, or its brave ideas, or its nuanced character development. But by the fourth hourlong episode sent to critics (of a...

The Ark looks like a throwback to the good old days of sci-fi series on Syfy.
The cable network released the first five minutes of the new drama, and we're convinced.
We pick up with a catastrophic event that awakens Lt. Sharon Garnet (Christie Burke) from her slumber.
Unfortunately, the event could lead to a loss of life, and Sharon is ready to go to any lengths necessary to save as many people as possible.
It's a high-stakes situation and one that requires a lot of attention.
There are tears as some of her colleagues lose loved ones, but Sharon has to think about the needs of the many as she battles to make the spaceship liveable, even for a short time.

"Everybody that was in charge of running this ship is dead… It all falls to us now." Syfy has revealed an official trailer for a sci-fi series debuting in February called The Ark, created for the sci-fi network. It's co-created by Jonathan Glassner, and Dean Devlin, best known as the writer of the screenplays for Stargate, Independence Day, Godzilla, and Geostorm. Set 100 years in the future when Earth is sending out its first interplanetary colonization ships. The story follows the remaining crew of a spacecraft known as Ark One, who must become the best versions of themselves to stay on course & survive after a catastrophic event that causes massive destruction and loss of life on the ship. This sounds similar to other sci-fi with this premise like the two films Passengers and Aniara. It stars Christie Burke, Richard Fleeshman, Reece Ritchie, Stacey Read, and Ryan Adams. It has that very cheap Syfy look & feel,...

Of all the places to be lost, space is pretty high up on the list of undesirable locations. Becoming adrift in the near-infinite nothingness of the universe is a provocative concept, so much so that one of the most iconic sci-fi TV series ever just went ahead and named itself after it.
Becoming lost in space isn’t the only thing to fear among the stars, however. For instance: what if you know where you’re going but lack the adequate life-sustaining resources to get there? That is the question at the center of Syfy’s next original series, The Ark.
Premiering Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 10 p.m. Et on Syfy, The Ark brings a simple, yet horrifying situation to the table. Per the official Syfy synopsis: “The Ark takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions have begun as a necessity to help secure the survival of the human race.

Syfy’s targeting a February 2023 premiere for the new original sci-fi series The Ark from showrunners and executive producers Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner (Stargate Sg-1). The 15-second first teaser doesn’t reveal much about the plot, other than that there appears to be some sort of emergency in space.

The series will be back on the air in 2023.

Syfy also announced that Chucky will be making its comeback this year, alongside the back half of Resident Alien Season 2.

Vertical Entertainment is set to release co-writer/director Brandon Christensen’s Still/Born in theaters and on VOD tomorrow, and in anticipation of the supernatural thriller, Daily Dead caught up with Christensen to chat about his feature directorial debut and what inspired the script that he co-penned with Colin Minihan (Extraterrestrial, It Stains the Sands Red). Christensen also discussed the challenges he faced while making Still/Born and his experiences collaborating with the film’s co-stars Christie Burke and genre favorite Jesse Moss.

With Still/Born coming to theaters and VOD platforms beginning February 9th, Daily Dead had the pleasure of catching up with Moss for a new Q&A feature, and in addition to discussing the character-centric story of Still/Born, Moss also reflected on the enduring love for the cult favorite Ginger Snaps.
