The DC Universe is home to some of the strongest and most iconic superhero characters of all time. With the likes of Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Green Arrow, and many more. However, one character is more popular than the lot— The Flash. Over the years, the Speedster has gained immense popularity as he has been part of different narrative elements in the Dcu, including a standalone film and being part of the Arrowverse.

One of the primary reasons for his massive popularity was how Grant Gustin portrayed the role of Barry Allen also known as The Flash. Abubakr Ali, the titular star of the recently canceled Netflix series Grendel, is speaking out about the show’s cancellation and what it means for Muslim representation on the screen.
In Grendel, Ali became the first Arab Muslim male actor to portray a series lead in a comic book adaptation. Earlier this week, Netflix revealed it would not be moving forward with the series. The decision was made after Grendel had done the bulk of its filming but the series was not finished, so there is currently a partial eight-episode season in the can. Producers have the option to shop the series.
In a post on Instagram, Ali noted that “Despite making up 24 percent of the world’s population, Muslim actors only make up 1 of speaking characters on TV.”
“I was really excited for what this role meant to my community,” he continued. “I never thought this business would allow...

Netflix canceled Grendel this week despite having shot the whole series. Andy Mientus, who was one of the show’s stars, opened up his heart to share his thoughts on the show getting axed by the streamer.
“We all know this business can be a heartbreaker, but I thought after more than a decade navigating it, I’d seen all the ways it can break your heart,” he posted on Instagram along with a screenshot of Deadline’s article.
Mientus goes on to explain that after receiving many rejections in the industry, he finally got a yes to be part of the Grendel cast.

Netflix’s decision to scrap its Grendel comic book adaptation after all eight episodes were shot is not sitting well with one of the show’s stars.
“Hundreds of talented, tireless, wonderful people shot not just a pilot, not just a few episodes, but an entire season that now might go unseen,” Flash alum Andy Mientus (aka Grendel’s Larry Stohler) lamented Wednesday on Instagram. “I’m used to shows closing or getting cancelled, but only after they at least get to meet the world, their fate decided (mostly) by their audience. Deadline revealed the news Tuesday, stating that the show had been in production and that plenty of scenes had been filmed.
Based on Matt Wagner's groundbreaking comic book series, Grendel follows Hunter Rose, a gifted fencer, writer and assassin as, seeking to avenge the death of a lost love, he goes to war with New York's criminal underworld, only to realize...why beat them, when you can join them?
That was the logline shared when the series got a formal pickup a year ago.
Deadline notes that producers plan to shop the series around, but there's no telling what paved the way for the cancellation.

Fans looking forward to Netflix’s Grendel series will be disappointed to learn that the adaptation of the Dark Horse Entertainment property is not moving forward. The Grendel series, led by Abubakr Ali, initially received an eight-episode order as a part of Netflix’s first look deal with the publisher. Thankfully, Grendel could have the chance to be sold to another platform. If another outlet picks up the show, Ali will be the first Arab Muslim male actor to portray a series lead in a comic book adaptation.
Resident Evil and Supernatural alum Andrew Dabb wrote the Grendel series in addition to serving as showrunner and executive producer. According to Deadline, Grendel follows Hunter Rose (Ali), a gifted fencer, writer, and assassin, seeking to avenge the death of a lost love. The Flash Season 6 Episode 18
“Pay the Piper” is one of those episodes of The Flash that may have looked a little better on paper than it did in actual practice. It certainly isn’t a bad hour of TV, and it does a number of really cool and somewhat promising things in the course of its run, but it sometimes felt like it was checking off a to-do list rather than telling a compelling self-contained hour of TV or advancing the overall story of the second half of the season all that well.
In fact, it’s in that latter regard that it really seems to fall short. As a piece of the larger Mirror Master arc, “Pay the Piper” doesn’t do anything. It’s one of those typical “late season Arrowverse” hours that really just allows everyone to regroup and steel themselves...

Godspeed is coming. Again. In fact, it’s possible he’s been around a lot more than we even know.
The visually striking evil speedster was first introduced last year, in an episode titled (appropriately enough) “Godspeed.” Coincidentally, that was also the 18th episode of the season, just as “Pay the Piper,” his next appearance on The Flash is this year. Still, the version of the character we’ve so far seen on TV hasn’t really lined up with the one from the comics…yet.
The first Godspeed (the one we met last year) was August Heart (just as his name was in the comics). However, he was the August Heart of 2049, and his origin story was considerably different than the comic book source material, and instead set her up as a crucial piece of Nora Allen’s superheroic origin story. The character appeared again in the opening moments of “Into the Void,...

We’ve only got two more episodes of The Flash season 6 to go before it wraps up a few weeks earlier than intended, due to the Covid-19 pandemic shutting down production. At least these incoming couple of episodes look to be a suitably thrilling way to conclude the season, though.
In next week’s installment, for instance, one of the most popular villains introduced in the past couple of years returns. Yup, Godspeed is back to cause havoc in Central City.
As the promo for episode 6×18 “Pay the Piper” teases, Barry Allen will have his work cut out for him when the evil speedster from the future shows up in the present. Godspeed would be enough of a challenge under regular conditions, but he’s especially a threat now as Barry is running low on juice. “I have to face him,” Barry tells Cisco in the cortex, after saying that...

The CW has now released the synopsis for “Pay the Piper,” the eighteenth and – it turns out – penultimate episode of The Flash season 6. Though there were to have been a bunch of episodes after it originally, it isn’t actually a bad second-to-last installment for the season as it sees the return of two key rogues from the Scarlet Speedster’s gallery – Godspeed and, as you can guess from the title, Pied Piper.
The synopsis teases that Barry Allen will turn to old ally Hartley Rathaway for help when evil speedster August Heart returns to Central City, only to have to overcome a tragic change brought about by “Crisis on Infinite Earths” – the pair no longer had their reconciliation in this timeline and are still mortal enemies.
“Godspeed And Pied Piper Return – When Godspeed returns, Barry (Grant Gustin) turns to Hartley Rathaway (guest star Andy Mientus) for help. However, things...

Production on The Flash season 6 has moved onto episode 18 this week, with set photos from filming in Vancouver revealing that fan favorite villain Godspeed will be making his third appearance on the show in that installment. Additional snaps from the location shoot though also confirm that another familiar foe will feature in this same episode, making this a must-see for Flash lovers.
On their website, Canadagraphs has shared a bunch of photos of a character notable for their black hoodie and green glowing gauntlets. That’s right, Pied Piper is coming back to Central City! Hartley Rathaway was a recurring threat on the first two seasons of the show and, if you cast your mind back, you may remember that Barry Allen changing history caused the Piper to become an ally of Team Flash instead of an enemy. Since his redemption, however, he’s never been seen again.

For fans of the police procedural series, the Universal Channel is about to embark on the new series Gone, which focuses on abductions/missing person cases and stars police crime drama veterans Chris Noth and Danny Pino and the Hunger Games alumna Leven Rambin. It may be an over-saturated TV genre but the series gives something a little different this time around by not only focusing on the cases but characters and their relationships too.

According to reports, Brit actor Russell Tovey aka 'Midshipman Frame' from "Doctor Who", will voice DC Comics' 1941 superhero 'The Ray' in the CW Seed animated series "Freedom Fighters: The Ray", followed by a live-action take in The CW's 'Arrowverse', as a 'gay' superhero, fulfilling producer Greg Berlanti's mission (?!) to step up 'Lgbt' themes in all of his TV series:
"Raymond 'Ray' Terrill was a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists...
"...working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction.
