“The day after Alfred Herrhausen’s murder, I wanted to make a film about it,” says German producer Gabriela Sperl. “Because I knew the official story we were being told just wasn’t the truth.”
This was back in 1989 and Herrhausen, the charismatic chairman of the board of German financial giant Deutsche Bank, had just been blown up, his armored Mercedes-Benz shredded by a 15 lbs bomb hidden in a bag on a bicycle parked next to the route Herrhausen and his security convoy traveled by every day.
It was a shocking and surprising act of assassination, quickly blamed on the Red Army Faction (Raf), a far-left German terror group which, a decade earlier, had killed a number of prominent capitalist figures, including Jürgen Ponto, the head of Dresdner Bank, and Hanns Martin Schleyer, the president of the German employers association. The Raf claimed responsibility, but the actual bombers were never...

We're not ready for the Fire Country Season 1 finale, despite wanting to watch it desperately.
The anticipated ending was Bode's parole hearing and the board's verdict.
Nobody thought the hearing might be in jeopardy, so it was throwing when Manny discovered that Bode tested positive for drugs on Fire Country Season 1 Episode 21.
Not using drugs is one of the prerequisites of being eligible for parole, especially if you are a known addict. It is also mandatory to stay at Edge Water, and breaking that rule is grounds enough for disqualification from the program.
Spoilers for Fire Country Season 1 Episode 22 tease a grand emergency as a massive mudslide covers Edge Water putting citizens, firefighters, and the fauna at risk.
The final scene from "Backfire" was Manny showing the drug test results to flabbergasted Bode, who thought he was about to get a mouthful for spending the night outside...

Even with the ground being literally on fire, something was missing.
A new inmate firefighter arrived at Three Rock, and with his arrival, drugs started showing up in the camp on Fire Country Season 1 Episode 19. This prompted "Bode's bravado" to kick in as he sought to protect one of their own.
Elsewhere, Eve continued to struggle with losing Rebecca and the feelings that the incident brought up.
The biggest problem with the storylines this hour was that they were either too much or too little.
First up, the drugs.
It was revealed that Bode and Sleeper had some history during flashbacks. The problem with using flashbacks to catch the viewer up with the history between two characters is that it never quite feels big enough to warrant certain reactions.
Flashbacks work best when used to remind the viewer of an event from a past episode, one they watched, or...

“This is what hope feels like,” Fire Country‘s Gabriela very recently told Bode, as they dreamed aloud about one day sharing dinners at home, him a free man, and them both eventually wearing nothing.
But is that a false hope? Is there a version of Fire Country — even as early as Season 2 — where Bode doesn’t bungle something during his last weeks and indeed gets paroled? And he then leaves Three Rock behind?

Bode is up for parole.
A lot of things happened on Fire Country Season 1 Episode 18, including Bode's news, Eve's struggles, Manny meeting a new romantic partner, and the fallout from the arson investigation.
Our Fire Country Fanatics Jasmine Blu, Dale McGarrigle, and Denis Kimathi discussed some of the biggest moments, including the Bode and Gabriela, Kane Brown's acting debut, and what they loved most about it.
Bode is up for parole. What are your expectations, and how might the outcome change the show?
Jasmine: It's late enough in the season where I can envision him getting paroled, but he'll still have to bide out his time until that happens.
And we still have Manny running the inmate program, Bode serving as a great example of its success, and things like that, so Bode can make that shift to becoming an official firefighter on Vince's team while still having the inmate element.

If not Jake then who? And then why does all the evidence point at Jake? Let’s find out.

We have another winner in our hands!
The identity of the infamous arsonist was revealed on Fire Country Season 1 Episode 17 while Jake, after feeling the pressure of being wrongly accused, confronted his demons.
To say this was a packed episode would be a huge understatement. It served a twist with a storyline we thought we had figured out, explored trauma from multiple angles, and brought two people closer.
It didn't come as a surprise that Colin/Alex was the arsonist because it had been teased for so long; many viewers had almost figured it out. The twist about who he was and how he managed to slither into 42 made for a more exciting hour of television.
To kick off, the investigator landed, rope in hand, ready to drag someone out. The person we met in this episode differed greatly from the one on Fire Country Season 1, Episode 9.
