Buenos Aires-based FilmSharks’ The Remake Co. has struck international deals on a quartet of comedies led by Ariel Winograd’s No Kids and That’s Not Cheating.
Guido Rud and his team have sold remake rights on No Kids to India’s Germ, which has offices in the subcontinent and the US. Shyam Madiraju (who produced Jennifer Aniston drama Cake) will produce the story based on the 2015 Argentina-Spain original about a man who is swept off his feet by a new lover and does not tell her about his young daughter.

Exclusive: Pantaya signed a co-development and production deal with Elefantec Global to create feature films, original series, and other entertainment offerings for Hispanic/Latino audiences.
As part of that deal, the companies announced its first round of collaborations including a reimagined version of NBC’s Telenovela from Eva Longoria. Longoria, who is married to Elefantec Global’s co-founder Pepe Baston, is set to direct the premiere episode. The other two greenlit projects headed to Pantaya domestically are La Rebelión de las Esposas (Wives’ Rebellion) and Sonido Latino (Latin Sound).

Giant (Handia) received 13 Goya nominations Basque language film Giant (Handia) leads the charge for the 32nd edition of the Goya Awards - the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars - with 13 nominations.
The film, directed by Aitor Arregi and Jon Garaño, who previously enjoyed international successs with Loreak, tells the real-life story of a son of a farmer who became a sensation after suffering from gigantism.

The Roma Lazio Film Commission colour correction and sound mixing 5.1 award has gone to Veronica (Mexico) by Carlos Algara and Alejandro Martinez Beltrán under the auspices of Ventana Sur’s genre sidebar.
The Sofía Films colour correction and visual effects supervising award was presented at the awards ceremony in Buenos Aires last week to Laura Casabé for La Valija De Benavidez (Argentina), which began life as a pitch at the market three years ago.
The same film earned the Morbido Film Festival award for opening credits design and pay-tv distribution for a second and third window for Latin America.

The filmmakers and their projects chosen by San Sebastian director-general José Luis Rebordinos are: Terror 5 (Argentina) from Sebastian Rotstein and Federico Roststien; Verónica (Mexico) from Carlos Algara and Alejandro Martinez Beltrán; A Percepçao De Medo (Uptake Fear, Brazil) from Kapel Furman and Armando Fonseca.
Rounding out the Bwip selections are Camaleón (Chamaleon, Chile) from Jorge Riquelme Serrano; La Valija De Benavidez (Argentina) from Laura Casabe; and Downhill (Chile) from Patricio Valladares.
