The “Rust” shooting case is still ongoing. After a series of investigations concerning the infamous shooting that happened on Oct. 21, 2021, during the filming of Alec Baldwin’s movie “Rust” at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico, prosecutors have come up with a new set of arguments.
According to an April 8 court filing which was obtained by People, prosecutors are arguing that while on set, the movie’s executive producer wasn’t the best person to work with as he was always flaring up and lashing out at the crew.
In their words, Baldwin had “absolutely no control of his own emotions.” They also shared that before the unfortunate incident took place, Baldwin was “frequently screaming and cursing.”
This new development came after Baldwin’s legal team filed a motion last month to overthrow the charges against him that were re-filed back in January in an indictment from a New Mexico grand jury.

William Baldwin and Sharon Stone’s heated feud goes back to the 1990s before her startling claim of being pressured to sleep with the former to improve their on-screen chemistry in the 1993 erotic thriller movie, Sliver came to the surface. However, the former hasn’t kept quiet on this matter as he clapped back at those claims, adding that he too has a fair amount of dirt on her.

Last week, armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, 26, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for an accident on the set of the independent film, Rust.
In 2021, on the set of the movie Rust in Santa Fe, New Mexico, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed by a weapon being used by star Alec Baldwin during a scene rehearsal. The weapon, which was supposed to contain only blanks, had a live round.
Gutierrez was the weapons supervisor on set but did not adequately check the gun before its use on set.
In the trial, lawyers presented information that Gutierrez should have performed gun safety protocols and ensured that no live rounds were brought on set.
Prosecutor Kari Morrissey stated in her closing remarks: “Hannah Gutierrez failed to maintain firearms safety, making a fatal accident willful and foreseeable.”

Movie armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was found guilty Wednesday of causing the involuntary manslaughter of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins two years ago on the set of Alec Baldwin’s Western flick Rust. The rookie armorer faces up to 18 months in prison for her role in the death of Hutchins, who was a rising star in her industry.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Hutchins’ parents and sister said they were “satisfied that the jury, based on the evidence, found Hannah Gutierrez-Reed guilty beyond a reasonable doubt for her part in the taking of Halyna’s life.

Attorneys gave their closing arguments in the “Rust” trial in Santa Fe, N.M., on Wednesday, with the prosecution urging jurors to find Hannah Gutierrez Reed guilty of involuntary manslaughter and to hold her accountable for an “astonishing” lack of gun safety on the film set.
Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey argued that as the film’s armorer, Gutierrez Reed, was in charge of guns on set, and that it was her failure to tell the difference between dummies and live rounds that led to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
“This was a game of Russian roulette every time an actor had a gun with dummies,” Morrissey said.
Defense attorney Jason Bowles urged the jury to find her not guilty.
He cited flaws in the Sheriff’s investigation that made it impossible to know for certain where the live rounds came from. He also pointed to errors committed by the production,...

Alec Baldwin received support from SAG-AFTRA after being charged with involuntary manslaughter last month. This relates to the Rust shooting tragedy of October 2021, where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot after a prop revolver that the lead actor and producer was holding discharged on the set of the film at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Bonanza City, New Mexico. Director Joel Souza was also injured.

Baldwin was initially charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter last year, in January. The second charge was dropped, and he pleaded not guilty a month later. The initial case and charge against the actor were dismissed in April 2023. This year, a New Mexico grand jury indicted Baldwin anew for involuntary manslaughter, thus effectively restarting the case against him.
Amid these developments, armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was the film’s weapons specialist/handler, is heading to trial on charges of involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the Rust armorer and the last defendant in New Mexico’s criminal case over the 2021 shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, has waived her right to a preliminary hearing, paving the way for the actual trial to begin soon.
Gutierrez-Reed submitted the waiver Friday, Aug. 4, with the preliminary hearing set to begin next week. During the hearing, prosecutors would’ve worked to convince the judge that there was enough evidence against Gutierrez-Reed to proceed to trial. Gutierrez-Reed has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and evidence tampering and has pleaded not guilty.

Three “Rust” crew members have filled a lawsuit against Alec Baldwin and producers of the film, claiming they suffered anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder after the shooting death of cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins.
On Monday, three plaintiffs Ross Adding, a dolly operator; Doran Curtin, a set costumer and Reese Price, a key grip, sued the actor and producers over the alleged negative mental and emotional impact of Hutchin’s fatal shooting in a lawsuit obtained by TheWrap. At the time of the incident, the three workers were in the church building at the Bonana Ranch near Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The lawsuit is just one of the many suits that have been filed in connection to the shooting. The Rust First Assistant Director who admitted he didn’t properly check the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins last month is now calling on the film industry to make sure “no one is harmed through the creative process again.”
Speaking publicly for the first time since the fatal shooting by star-producer Alec Baldwin on the low-budget Western’s New Mexico set, David Halls has been named by Santa Fe Sheriff Adan Mendoza as one of the “two other people that handled and or inspected the loaded gun prior to Baldwin firing the weapon.” The other individual is armorer Hannah Gutierrez.
Hutchins died during a rehearsal at the Bonanza Creek Ranch after being struck by what now have been called “live rounds” from the 1880s-era weapon Baldwin was practicing a “quick draw” move.

Lawyering up with a former Assistant U.S. Attorney after being called out in public by Santa Fe’s sheriff, the Rust armorer at the center of the tragic accident that saw cinematographer Halyna Hutchins fatally shot has spoken out for the first time.
Disputing tales of after-hours target practice with weapons used for the film, Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez’s lawyers on Thursday also confirmed that two weapons were accidentally discharged on the troubled Bonanza Creek Ranch set of Rust before the accident October 21
“Safety is Hannah’s number on priority on set,” said attorneys Jason Bowles and Robert Gorence in a statement released late tonight. “Ultimately this set would never have been compromised if live ammo were not introduced. Hannah has no idea where the live rounds came from.”
“Hannah still, to this day, has never had an accidental discharge,” her lawyers claim in their statement tonight.

Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz introduced a resolution today to support legislation that would eliminate live guns and ammunition from television and movie productions following the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins after a weapon discharged as star Alec Baldwin handled it on set.
“While movies can be convincing and very realistic — they are supposed to be make-believe,” said Koretz, who introduced the resolution. “A single gun accident, let alone a fatality, like the one that occurred on the Rust set and the ones that killed Brandon Lee and Jon-Erik Hexum destroy the lives of not only the victims and their families, but the lives of the other actors and crew who forever after are burdened with the emotional trauma of avoidable accidents.

The crew member responsible for overall safety on the set of Rust has admitted he didn’t properly check the gun that Alec Baldwin fired on October 21 and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Authorities believe a lead bullet removed by doctors from the shoulder of “Rust” director Joel Souza is the same one that struck and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, and was fired out of a gun shot by actor Alec Baldwin on the New Mexico set of the film last Thursday. That bullet, along with 500 blanks, dummy rounds, and suspected live rounds are among the evidence that has been collected by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department as part of its ongoing investigation into the fatal incident.

“In reference to possible charges, it’s too early right now in the investigation to comment on charges at this point,” Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said today of the October 21 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and the injuring of Rust director Joel Souza on Thursday by a gun held by the film’s star and producer Alec Baldwin.
“The investigation will continue and if the Sheriff’s Office determines during our investigation that a crime has occurred and probable cause exists, an arrest or arrests will be made and charges will be filed,” the Sheriff added.
“Otherwise, we will complete our investigation and forward the complete investigation and evidence to the Distract Attorney for review,” Mendoza noted, saying there are more interviews to be conducted. While noting there was footage of that day of the Rust set, the sheriff also made public that “there was no footage of the actual accident.

The fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins by Alec Baldwin last week on the Santa Fe set of Rust wasn’t the first time First Assistant Director David Hills worked on a film where a weapon discharged unexpectedly.
Back in late 2019, a gun went off on the Arkansas set of Freedom’s Path, where Halls was an Ad. The incident caused a member of the Rocket Soul Studios-produced movie’s sound department to jump back from the close-by blast.
“First of all, our condolences go out to everyone affected by the recent tragic event in New Mexico,” said one of the producers of Freedom’s Path to Deadline today.
“I can confirm that Dave Halls was fired from the set of Freedom’s Path in 2019 after a crew member incurred a minor and temporary injury when a gun was unexpectedly discharged,” he added. “Halls was removed from set immediately after the prop gun discharged.
