Update: The Chris Farley Show, a film adaptation of the book by the late SNL star’s brother Tom, is a go. Deadline is reporting that New Line Cinema has acquired the rights and is full steam ahead on what could be a potential Oscar-play for the studio.
Original Story: Cruella and Cobra Kai actor Paul Walter Hauser is going from voicing Embarrassment in Pixar’s upcoming sequel Inside Out 2 to living in a van down by the river for the lead role in Josh Gad’s Chris Farley biopic. Hauser is stuffing himself into a little coat to play the legendary comedian, Saturday Night Live alum, and star of comedies like Tommy Boy, Black Sheep, and Beverly Hills Ninja. Josh Gad directs the Chris Farley biopic, with Lorne Michaels producing through his Broadway video studio.

New Line Cinema proved to be more highly motivated than the rest of its competition in landing the forthcoming Chris Farley biopic that is set to star Paul Walter Hauser as the late comedy legend.
The company has landed director Josh Gad’s film following a highly competitive situation. Hauser, a recent Emmy winner for his work in Apple TV+’s Black Bird, will star as Farley, the Saturday Night Live standout and star of such films as Tommy Boy who died of a drug overdose in 1997 at age 33.
Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (The Disaster Artist, Daisy Jones & The Six) are writing the screenplay based on Tom Farley Jr. and Tanner Colby’s best-selling biography, The Chris Farley Show: A Biography in Three Acts. The project has the blessing of the Farley family, with SNL creator Lorne Michaels and Erin David serving as producers for Broadway Video.

Though the tide of late has turned more towards a Bohemian Rhapsody-powered focus on biopics of musicians, there is always room for other entertainers with particularly compelling stories. One such example is Saturday Night Live staple-turned-film comedy actor Chris Farley, whose star burned bright before it was snuffed out decades too early by excess and addiction. Paul Walter Hauser is now attached to star as Farley in the film to be directed by actor/producer and now filmmaker Josh Gad.
Farley, who initially had seemed destined to join his father in the oil business, was lured away by the thrill of performing, eventually ending up at Chicago's Second City improv troupe (which he joined the same day as fellow future comedy icon Stephen Colbert) and from there was recruited by Lorne Michaels for SNL.

Chris Farley — the legendary comedy actor behind Tommy Boy and countless Saturday Night Live performances — is getting the biopic treatment.
Emmy winner Paul Walter Hauser will star in the project that has actor-filmmaker Josh Gad attached to direct. Saturday Night Live patriarch Lorne Michaels will produce via his Broadway video banner.
The screenplay will be written by sought after duo Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber based on the New York Times best-selling biography The Chris Farley Show: A Biography in Three Acts by Tom Farley Jr. and Tanner Colby.
The project, which is currently being pitched around town, has the blessing of the Farley family.
Farley rose to fame as a player on Saturday Night Live alongside castmembers Adam Sandler and David Spade, known for his energetic and physical performances. Famous for sketches that saw him play Bill Swerski’s Superfans (“da Bears!”), an overzealous motivational speaker (“living in...

The Sega Genesis/Mega Drive had a fantastic run from the late ’80s through much of the ’90s. The 16-bit era was the first time gamers got to experience a meaningful console war and while you can debate whether or not it was superior to the Snes, there were so many fantastic games out there worth playing. Gaming was evolving and kids were eating well.
With about a thousand titles in its library, not every Genesis game could be a hit. There were some titles that missed the mark more than others. Presents that ruined birthdays. Rentals that ruined weekends. Trades that ruined friendships. Buyer’s remorse that can stain one’s very soul. Let’s take a second to celebrate the Genesis titles that aspired to be an earl but ended up as lowly as toe jam.
15. The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants
There was a special strangeness to early Simpsons games.

It's all over now, the big "Succession" question answered, and who can say it ended well? Well, maybe Tommy Boy can. You might not have seen the winner of the series finale coming from left field, outside of the family and the average fan's field of vision, but the biggest betrayal was hiding in plain sight. Even with silver spoons in their mouth, nepotism couldn't save the Roy siblings in the end. They failed to band together, and the boy from St. Paul took it all.
Despite the human foostooling and laughable public speaking, Tom still managed to retain a much better reputation as a boss than any of the Roy siblings. By realizing he was dispensable and presenting himself as such, he managed to become invaluable. But even though Tom ended up with the title, is he really on top?

It's been just a few days since Logan's earth-shattering death in the "Succession" world, and his funeral has finally arrived. It feels like we've been grieving the loss of the Murdoch-like media titan forever, but the wound is still very fresh for the Roy siblings, and their newly formed scabs are ripped open in this gut-wrenching episode.
Kendall and Roman might have been crowned co-CEOs, but the coronation demolition derby is still well underway. Josh Segarra could be Hollywood’s biggest fan. The actor, who has been working steadily for the past 15 years — first with day gigs like a scene in the Homeland pilot shortly after his graduation from NYU, later with recurring roles on Chicago P.D. and Orange Is the New Black — is effusive, bordering on glowing, about the business. He remembers details about every guest spot he’s ever done, every executive or star who’s helped him to where he is today. Claire Danes was “so sweet and kind” and did crossword puzzles on set; John Leguizamo was “awesome”; Kevin Bacon offered some banter about the New York Giants to calm some nerves. “It hasn’t been lost on me when somebody can tell I’ve got stars in my eyes and takes the time to give me a hug,” he says. “It’s why I’ll never stop being a fan of this business.

Bridge of the Doomed certainly can’t be accused of being a slow burn. Within the first few minutes, an army base comes under attack, and a group of civilians is overrun and eaten by zombies. And there’s no hesitation to put the bloody results on the screen. This is the zombie apocalypse 80s style, except it isn’t badly dubbed into English.
After the opening attack, General Vasquez sends a squad led by Lt Whitmore and Sgt. Hernandez to hold a bridge or destroy it in necessary, while they wait for reinforcements to arrive. Getting those reinforcements falls to the ominously named Colonel Charon.

Chris Farley employed an unusual set of gifts as an actor. During the Farley era, critics struggled to understand the quality of his craft. I'm not going to name names, but critics at the time called Farley a "slob," "blimp," and "fat dumb guy." Their words say more about them than they do about Farley. They were so busy sneering at an appearance they deemed unacceptable that they couldn't see the radiant being who brightened every scene he appeared in.
Farley mastered the art of the pratfall, but it wasn't just the execution of his body smashing through a coffee table or taking a wooden plank to the head that made him incredibly funny. He set you up for the moment by exposing his vulnerability and showing an earnestness that made you care for him -- and we loved him for it. Farley's physical tools are rare for any actor.

"Saturday Night Live" is a very prestigious show for any comedian to appear in, but it's often treated as a stepping stone to greater success. It's the natural life cycle of an "SNL" cast member to spend a few seasons on television, increasing their reputation, before leaving the show and attempting to get big in movies or to get a television show of their own. That's the path that's been followed by countless cast members, from early stars like Eddie Murphy and Chevy Chase starring in movies to more recent cast members like Andy Samberg or Amy Poehler going on to sitcom success. Unless you're Kenan Thompson, that's just the circle of life.
There are also those who fail to gain any traction on the show, getting fired after one or two seasons on the cast. While some of their careers manage to recover, being fired from "SNL" can be...

There have been few more versatile comedic weapons in history than Chris Farley. During his heyday in the '90s, Farley was probably the funniest man on the planet. During his time on "Saturday Night Live," he was the clear standout of the cast, the guy they'd send out to ensure laughter. He was that good.
If you were the director of a comedy in 1995, there's no star you'd rather have in your film than Farley. Maybe Jim Carrey. But for Peter Segal, the director of "Tommy Boy," there was no one better than Farley for the job. But Farley also got plenty of help from his good friend David Spade, and Segal knew that they had some expert comedic minds to lean on to fill in the gaps in the script, and that's just what they did.

In show business, sometimes Hollywood giveth, and Hollywood taketh away. All Bible quotes aside, the idiom almost applied to the 1995 comedy "Tommy Boy." After having them on "Saturday Night Live" together, executive producer Lorne Michaels recognized the chemistry between best friends Chris Farley and David Spade and pitched the idea for a movie featuring the two comedians.
The original draft of "Tommy Boy" focused more on the relationship between Tommy (Farley) and his stepbrother Paul (Rob Lowe). But the concept wasn't working for director Peter Segal. "I felt that was the B story," Segal told Deadline on the film's 25th anniversary. "The A story was these two guys who didn't get along, forced to work together to save this company, and the town."
That required a comprehensive rewrite of the script. There was just one problem: Farley and Spade were due back in New York for the new season of "Saturday Night Live.

The film about a Bulgarian computer engineer searching for a formula to create irresistible seductive power for four desperate digital geeks searching for analogue love will open this year’s festival in Nyon, Switzerland tomorrow (April 24). The festival runs from April 25 to May 3.
