We loved "Everything Everywhere All at Once" around these parts (you can read our review right here), but it seems like some folks have soured on the flick ever since it took home an Oscar for Best Picture. So it goes. The feature helmed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, aka The Daniels, is wild, unpredictable, funny, and emotional. Perhaps the emotional angle is what turns people off these days — it seems like anyone or anything who dares to express any type of half-positive emotion is labeled as "cringe." And that's a shame. None of this is to say you're not allowed to dislike the movie. To each their own.
But if you still have a place for "Everything Everywhere All at Once" in your heart, you might be curious about how the wild and crazy film came together. Or more specifically, where all of the over-the-top insanity originally sprung from.

That’s how filmmaker Ari Aster kicked off his interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Monday night while standing on the red carpet ahead of the L.A. premiere of his latest film, Beau Is Afraid. It was in reference to the obligation of doing press, something he clearly does not enjoy. Same goes for his star, Joaquin Phoenix, who turned up to the DGA Theatre to pose for photos and make a brief appearance on stage with the rest of the cast as Aster introduced the A24 epic.
“I still can’t quite believe I was given the resources and the freedom to make this in the way that we did,” Aster said during those remarks in front of a capacity crowd that included Pedro Pascal; Jenna Ortega; Jesse Williams; Everything Everywhere All at Once’s Daniel Kwan, Daniel Schienert, Jonathan Wang and Harry Shum Jr....

Before his Academy Award-winning performance in "Everything Everywhere All at Once," Ke Huy Quan had found himself in a 20-year acting hiatus. The Vietnam-born, Chinese-American actor is best known for starring as Short Round in 1984's "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" at just 12 years old and for playing Data in 1985's "The Goonies." As Quan grew up, he took on roles in international productions; however, the opportunities for Asian talent in Hollywood specifically continued to get slimmer.
In 2002, Quan left acting behind — but despite popular belief, he never once gave up on his passion for filmmaking and storytelling for a second. In fact, Quan would find himself trying out a variety of roles behind the camera. After graduating from USC, Quan was briefly mentored by action choreographer and director Corey Yuen, and even helped choreograph a significant fight sequence in the original "X-Men" film. In the vast swathe of the multiverse, we now know which branch of reality we’re living in: the one in which Everything Everywhere All At Once sweeps the Oscars, bagging Best Picture, Directing for Daniels (aka Daniel Kwan_ (the Daniel Radcliffe farting corpse movie) and the ‘Turn Down For What’ video are now Oscar winners. The film won seven awards throughout the night, picking up steam especially towards the end of the ceremony – winning the all-important Editing category, as well as Original Screenplay.

Patty Jenkins says she was more than disappointed that no women were nominated for best director this year.
“I give up, I give up,” the “Wonder Woman” director told me Saturday at the Charles Finch and Chanel pre-Oscars dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge. “I say that even with all of their push to have diversity. The numbers are just hugely imbalanced of who votes for these things. I sort of just stopped paying attention to it. It’s still going to take a long ways to go. It’s going to take a lot more to really see truly more diverse awards. I really appreciate the efforts that they’re making but we have a long way to go.”

It appears the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is getting a second chance as big-name stars turned out for the 2023 Golden Globe Awards. Hosted by Jerrod Carmichael, the HFPA’s dicey reputation didn’t keep NBC from airing the 2023 show after canceling the event in 2022.
The Banshees of Inisherin went into the night with the most nominations of any film and wound up winning in the Best Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Colin Farrell), and Best Screenplay categories. Steven Spielberg’s most personal film to date, The Fabelmans, was named Best Picture – Drama and Spielberg took home the Best Director trophy.
Abbott Elementary was nominated in five categories, topping the list on the television side going into the night.

The nominations for the 2023 Golden Globe Awards have been announced.
The 2022 Awards were not broadcast on television after allegations were launched against the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the group of journalists who vote on the awards.
HFPA was criticised for its lack of diversity, leading to Netflix, Amazon Studios and WarnerMedia announcing that they would boycott the HFPA until they made a meaningful change. The 2022 ceremony was held privately and there was no red carpet.
NBC stated that HFPA would need to take “time and work” to implement the changes. However, they said at the time: “Assuming the organisation executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.”
The awards will be televised on NBC on Tuesday 10 January with comedian Jerrod Carmichael taking on the role of host.
Some of the most nominated projects include Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once and The Fabelmans.
