Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal headline the first of two 2025 releases from Guy Ritchie: In The Grey. More here.
Busy times in the life of Guy Ritchie. He’s currently doing promotional work for his incoming film, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which is landing over the coming weeks. Yet even as he’s talking about that, he’s already in post-production on his next project, due from Lionsgate early next year.
Things we already knew: Ritchie has written the script as well as directing, while the cast features Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaall, Eiza Gonzalez, Carlos Bardem, Fisher Stevens, Jason Wong, and Rosamund Pike.
It was revealed too that it was an action film, one that shot in the Canary Islands last autumn. In terms of further details though, they were on the scant side, and we didn’t even have a title.

As on-screen text reads, the U.S. responded to 9/11 by deploying troops to Afghanistan. As the number of troops rose across the next decade, the U.S. military employed Afghan interpreters under an agreement that they would be eligible for Special Immigration Visas and relocation to America. That work is seen as the film flashes to 2018, when a routine check ends with a vehicle explosion and lives lost.
Sergeant John Kinley (Jake Gyllenhaal) leads a unit whose mission is to locate Taliban firearms and munitions, which includes a replacement interpreter in the form of Ahmed (Dar Salim). While considerably disliked, the interpreter proves himself a valuable member as he deduces an ambush lurking ahead of the unit.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a movie starring Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez, as well as the great Hugh Grant with his peculiar (and marked) English accent… in the lands of Tolkien.
Very nice and with a lot more sense of humor than the previous ones. A film that blends comedy and the most inconsequential adventure genre very well.
The kind we all love.
And, above all, it knows how to distinguish itself in treatment and narrative approach from the rest of fantasy productions so hackneyed lately.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Movie review
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is easy to love, it knows how to win over the audience with a fantasy story that, told in the most entertaining way possible and full of jokes, knows how to make a niche among the ostentatious mega productions of this type.

Dungeons & Dragons series: Drew Crevello joins the party as showrunner of the live-action adaptation
The Dungeons & Dragons series is gaining another party member in Drew Crevello (WeCrashed) as the showrunner of the live-action adaptation for Paramount+. Crevello will work closely with Rawson Marshall Thurber, who wrote the pilot script and will direct the first episode. The eight-episode series is a co-production between eOne and Paramount Pictures, with eOne leading the charge.
According to Deadline’s previous report, “Adapting Dungeons & Dragons for television has been a major focus for eOne under President of Global Television Michael Lombardo following the company’s 2019 acquisition by Hasbro. The live-action series has been tipped to be the studio’s largest-scope TV project ever, potentially launching a Dungeons & Dragons universe spanning multiple scripted and unscripted shows.”

Chris Pine has been a fan-favorite with viewers of all ages for nearly two decades, following his big breakout role in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. He has appeared in dozens of movies over the years, from romantic comedies to big-budget blockbusters such as the Star Trek reboot film series. Pine’s good looks are a large part of his appeal to fans. In fact, Pine is so good-looking that his face has been used as a template for not one, but three separate Ken dolls. In a recent interview promoting new film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Pine discussed this, even joking about how he “asked” the dolls to be made.

If you’ve ever played Dungeons &. Dragons, you know it’s all about the melee combat. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves rolled a 20 by enlisting veteran stuntman Brad Martin to oversee the stunts and fights. Martin has worked on some of the biggest action franchises in cinema, including The Expendables, Underworld, xXx, The Matrix, and more. He was George Clooney’s stunt double for Batman & Robin, along with five other films. A comrade in arms with noted stuntmen-turned-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, Martin is forging his own path as one of Hollywood’s top creators of action.
Den of Geek: You’ve been in the business for over 30 years. What new challenges did Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves bring for you?
Brad: I’ve done a few films with a lot of CGI and working with computer-generated creatures.

We’re just one week away from the March 31st theatrical release date of Paramount Pictures’ Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which is based on the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game franchise – and just in case the positive reviews (there’s a bunch of them quoted in the final trailer) haven’t convinced someone to see the movie, Paramount is now using the Freaks and Geeks connection to try to lure in viewers. In the new ad that you can check out in the Twitter embed below, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves director John Francis Daley is reunited with Samm Levine and Martin Starr, his co-stars from the short-lived but beloved TV series Freaks and Geeks, which went off the air twenty-three years ago after just one season.

It’s hard to believe, but it took almost a decade to bring Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves to movie screens. The film has been in development hell since 2013, with Warner Bros. initially expressing interest in bringing the tabletop role-playing game to life.
However, the film later moved to Paramount Pictures. Chris McKay and Michael Gilio were originally tapped to write and direct the movie, but were replaced in 2019 with Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who used elements from McKay and Gilio’s script.
And though there are plenty of references to the Dungeons & Dragons game, the film’s directors said they “definitely took some liberties” when making the movie.

Paramount Pictures has been releasing a steady stream of clips and featurettes to promote their upcoming release Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which is based on the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game franchise and is set to reach theatres on March 31st. With cameras just about ready to roll on The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare_, is yet to see a release here (or in much of the world), but in that it’s not exactly typical Guy Ritchie fare, even with lashings of muscular action. Oh, and yes, his name actually is in the official title. Check out the trailer here:
No London. No geezers. No gangsters. No quips. No dodgy nicknames. The Gentlemen this most assuredly ain’t. Instead, Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant – initially titled The Interpreter – looks like a tense, emotionally-driven military thriller that’s more concerned with the effects of war than the FX of it all.
Written by the Wrath Of Man director alongside regular collaborators Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, the story here centres on Jake Gyllenhaal’s Army Sergeant John Kinley, who ends up being rescued by his interpreter (Dar Salim) when a tour in...

Jake Gyllenhaal has unfinished business to resolve in the first trailer for director Guy Ritchie’s upcoming film The Covenant.
The MGM military thriller, hitting theaters April 21, stars Gyllenhaal as Army Sergeant John Kinley, who is rescued during a tour in Afghanistan by his interpreter, played by Dar Salim. The footage shows Kinley grappling with whether to put himself back in harm’s way to rescue Ahmed.
“If it wasn’t enough for him to carry me across those mountains, now he’s hiding in a hole somewhere,” Gyllenhaal’s character says somberly in the trailer. “I should be in that hole.”
He later adds, “Ahmed and his family are in trouble. I am gonna have to get him out myself.”
The cast also includes Alexander Ludwig, Antony Starr, Jason Wong, Bobby Schofield, Sean Sagar, Sina Parvaneh, Emily Beecham, Cyrus Khodaveisi and Christian Ochoa.

Everything is coming up Guy Ritchie. The British filmmaker has released five movies since 2019, including the 1 billion-grossing live-action remake of Disney’s “Aladdin.” And now he’s back with his latest, the war movie “The Covenant,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal as an American soldier who returns to the battlefield to rescue an interpreter who saved his life (played by Dar Salim). And the brand-new trailer (which you can watch above) certainly brings the intensity.
“The Covenant” leading man Gyllenhaal has been on an action kick lately. He starred in Michael Bay’s excellent “Ambulance” last year and just finished shooting a new version of “Road House” for Amazon’s Prime Video and director Doug Liman. “The Covenant” marks Gyllenhaal’s first collaboration with Ritchie.

The 2000 live-action film based on the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game franchise didn’t go over very well with audiences, but it did earn the Awfully Good treatment and spawn a couple of sequels (2005’s Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God and 2012’s Dungeons & Dragons 3: The Book of Vile Darkness). Those movies came to us from New Line Cinema / Warner Bros. and Im Global, but now it’s Paramount Pictures’ turn. Paramount will be giving the live-action film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves a theatrical release on March 31st, and with that date just a couple months away a new trailer for the film has arrived online. Paramount Pictures has just decided to shake up their March plans. The studio had originally intended to get March 2023 started by releasing the game-inspired film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves on March 3rd. Then they were going to end the month by releasing the slasher sequel Scream 6 on March 31st. Now they have pushed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves back four weeks and moved Scream 6 ahead three weeks.
Scream 6 is now set to reach theatres on March 10th. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will follow on March 31st. Paramount did not give a reason for these date changes.
Deadline notes that the March 10th release date puts Scream 6 in direct competition with the sci-fi thriller 65, a Sam Raimi production that stars Adam Driver and was directed by A Quiet Place writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, as well as the drama Inside, starring Willem Dafoe.

Special purpose acquisition companies—known as SPACs—have been all the rage in the world of investment for the last two years, and they’ve made a mark in the media space, but is the trend slowing down?
Known as ‘blank check companies’, SPACs are publicly traded investment vehicles that raise capital solely to acquire existing companies. They are often fronted by a well-known figure and are seen as a simpler alternative to going public via an IPO. They can also provide everyman investors with an opportunity to tap into the high growth that some companies experience in their early years. At the same time, of course, a disappointing debut can register significant losses.
In some instances, SPACs will be announced with specific investment targets in mind, like when Virgin Galactic completed a successful Spac merger in 2019 and launched a trend of similar endeavours across the past two years. On other occasions,...

If you’re lucky enough to live near Islay, Scotland, you may have heard the tale of the Islay Dragon, a myth that has inspired a new limited edition whisky from the legendary Scotch whisky distillery, Ardbeg.
Ardbeg Scorch is distilled in heavily-charred American oak casks for a super-smoky flavour, and will be released on this year’s Ardbeg Day— an online celebration which forms part of Islay’s annual Fèis Ìle festival of whisky and music.
The Ardbeg Day celebrations are free to join online, and open to all whisky lovers. For those who can’t yet taste the “fire-breathing beast of a dram” in person, you can celebrate with a taste of the best TV and movie dragons, and raise a glass of your own from home.
You can find out more about Ardbeg Day here, and consider joining the Ardbeg Committee here.

Exclusive: Lucy Freyer has joined the cast of Brit McAdams’ Paint, starring Owen Wilson, Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ciara Renée, Lusia Strus and Stephen Root.
The comedic feature centers on Carl Nargle (Wilson), who has hosted Vermont’s #1 painting show for nearly three decades. While Carl’s signature whisper has long kept viewers from Pittsfield to St. Albans breathlessly hanging on his every stroke, the station eventually hires a younger, better painter who steals everything (and everyone) Carl loves.
In the film, which is currently in production, Freyer plays the eager and impressionable Jenna, an employee at Carl’s studio who is also his latest girlfriend. Like the women before her, she’s captivated by Carl’s gentle charm, but is starting to realize that she’s doing things she doesn’t believe in just to gain his affection.
McAdams wrote the script for Paint, which made The Black List.

Hulu has updated its user interface with the goal of improving content discovery and providing a more consistent experience across the other services included in its bundled offering with Disney+ and ESPN+.
The new look and feel starts Wednesday on Roku and Apple TV before rolling out on other platforms in the coming months.
Operated jointly by multiple media companies since its 2007 launch, Hulu last year came under the control of Disney following its buyout of Comcast and acquisition of most of 21st Century Fox. Disney then integrated Hulu into a $13-a-month bundle with Disney+ and ESPN+ last fall, with the bundle helping drive subscriptions of all three services. As of March 31, Hulu reported 32.1 million total subscribers, including 3.3 million customers of its live TV package, up 27% from the same period in 2019.
“We listened to feedback from our viewers and heard they loved how easy it was to continue watching the shows and movies they love,...
