A 19-word tweet from LeBron James has triggered a bidding war between two streaming platforms. The NBA star known as King James announced his intention to begin broadcasting video games, and both Twitch and Kick are hoping to bring him to their respective platforms.
James is a fan of the Madden NFL franchise. He played the popular football sim to kick off 2023, and he finished out the year by suggesting that Madden could be a key part of his post-playing career. On X, he asked his followers which platform he should use if he decides to bring his Madden gameplay to the masses.

After two films of true friendship and relentless flirting, Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) are now officially, finally, a couple (#broppy)! As they grow closer, Poppy discovers that Branch has a secret past. He was once part of her favourite boyband phenomenon, BroZone, with his four brothers: Floyd (Golden Globe-nominated electropop sensation Troye Sivan), John Dory (Eric André; Sing 2), Spruce (Grammy winner Daveed Diggs; Hamilton) and Clay (Grammy winner Kid Cudi; Don’t Look Up). BroZone disbanded when Branch was still a baby, as did the family, and Branch hadn’t seen his brothers since.
But when Branch’s bro Floyd is kidnapped for his musical talents by a pair of nefarious pop-star villains—Velvet (Emmy winner Amy Schumer; Trainwreck) and Veneer...

Kick is trolling its main rival, but its latest stunt may be more than a simple joke. On Twitter, the gambling-oriented streaming platform teased an event called KickCon, which — if real — will go down in the same city as Twitch’s long-running convention.
The Kick tweet included an image of a ticket, which showed that KickCon 2023 will occur in Las Vegas on a date that will be announced in the future. Some replies to the tweet speculated that KickCon could go down on October 20, when TwitchCon will take over Sin City for three days. Kick offered a coy reply to that theory.
— Kick.com (@KickStreaming) May 11, 2023
The ticket looks official, but there’s no other evidence to suggest that KickCon is anything more than an elaborate goof. Dexerto noted that the streamer Trainwreck, who is closely associated with Kick, has not confirmed that the rumored convention will actually happen.

Trainwreckstv‘s promised Twitch challenger is here, and it might be a Stake.com-backed venture.
For those not caught up on Trainwreck vs Twitch, here’s the tl;dr. Back in October, Twitch finally did something about the “gambling meta”: it barred non-u.S.-based gambling platforms from sponsoring streamers. One of the platforms struck in that ban was Stake.com, which had paid streamers like Trainwreck and xQc hundreds of millions of dollars to stream themselves gambling on its site.
Trainwreck did not take kindly to Twitch cutting off his Stake income, and vowed to create or partner with a rival platform that would support up-and-coming creators—and allow gambling.
Now, he’s revealed his platform of choice is Kick, a startup of unknown origins that appears to have connections to Stake.com, judging by a job listing that describes Kick as “a new venture created by the founders of Easygo and Stake.

Two years into a global pandemic, the 2022 Oscars initially appeared intent on becoming the Grammys tonight.
Kicking off with an introduction by the legendary Venus and Serena Williams and leaping immediately into a lime-drenched performance of the Oscar-nominated King Richard theme song by Beyoncé from the tennis courts of Compton, the 94th Academy Awards on ABC looked like a ceremony in search of an identity.
Hollywood Reacts To The Oscar Slap: Physical Assault, Say Many; “How We Do It”, Says Jaden Smith
Of course, amidst all the winners and performers, there is one shocking and disturbing moment that will define this year’s show and permanently stain the already struggling Academy Awards. That moment was a very unscripted, very real, and only-on-live-television moment when Will Smith went up onstage and hit Chris Rock hard for going off script and mocking Jada Pinkett Smith as he got ready to hand out the Documentary Feature Award.

Amy Schumer had a message for Hillary Clinton.
On the day after the 2016 election, the “Trainwreck” actor and comedian took to her Instagram account to express her rage at the millions of Americans who had supported Donald Trump. “People who voted for him, you are weak. You’re not just misinformed, you didn’t attempt information,” Schumer wrote online. “Well, you’ve gotten what you asked for. And now you can watch the sky open up, literally.”
“Wow, who said that?” Clinton asked, when presented with the quote.
“That’s me,” Schumer responded.
For nearly an hour, Schumer and Clinton spoke in a far-ranging conversation over Zoom which airs on Tuesday afternoon for Variety’s first virtual TV festival. What brought them together was an unexpected common experience. Both Clinton and Schumer are the subjects of recent documentaries about their careers and lives as trailblazing feminists — in both politics (for...

Jillian Bell is delightful as a woman who takes up running in a sweet, amusing film that also turns a few dark corners
Comedian and former Saturday Night Live writer Jillian Bell has been scene-stealingly hilarious in supporting roles for quite a while. Now here’s a movie that could make her a star. Paul Downs Colaizzo’s New York-set indie comedy gives Bell the platform for a lovely authentic performance as a woman who takes up running to lose weight and get fit. It’s a film with charm and sweetness but a twinge of anxiety, a little gravitational pull to darker places.
Bell is Brittany, a 28-year-old with issues recognisable from Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck: binge-drinking, picking up the wrong guys, generally failing to sort out her life. When she tries to wheedle prescription drugs out of her Gp, he instead warns that her Bmi is in the obese range.

Good ole clean fun! On Sunday night, Alec Baldwin was the center of attention for Comedy Central's annual roast. And this year's honoree didn't disappoint when he got up to the podium and poked fun at his guests, which included his daughter Ireland Baldwin, Blake Griffin, Caitlyn Jenner, Ken Jeong, Nikki Glaser, Robert De Niro and many, many others. However, it was Glaser and Griffin who stole the show during tonight's knee-slapping roast. "Robert De Niro, I can't believe I get to share this stage with you, and by that I mean the final one of your life," the Trainwreck star and comedian quipped. Later that night, she added, "Alec, you've had four kids with Hilaria...

Judd Apatow has been out of the movie directing game for the last few years, as he has focused on some TV projects. The last big screen direction we saw from him was the 2015 Amy Schumer comedy, Trainwreck, which was hilarious and a big boost for Schumer’s career.
Apatow is now teaming up with SNL’s Pete Davidson for a comedy that will look to do the same for him. Davidson wrote the script with Apatow and Dave Sirus, and Davidson will star in what will be a semi-autobiographical comedy about his life growing up in Staten Island, New York.
Davidson lost his father as a child on September 11th, 2001, and started doing stand-up as a teenager in New York, landing SNL as one of the youngest cast members in the show’s history when he was just 20. His comedy is truthful and raw, and usually based on controversial subjects.

As one of the biggest names in modern comedy, filmmaker Judd Apatow has his hands in a lot of pies. Producing has been his bag of late, leading one to wonder when he man was planning on writing and/or directing something new. Sure, he’d made a documentary about The Avett Brothers, and it was quite good, along with one about Gary Shandling, but when would another comedic effort be coming our way? Well, yesterday brought news that not only is he planning a new movie, it’s already written and has him teaming up with a really interesting talent. Who, well, none other than actor and comedian Pete Davidson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, these are the details so far about the project: “Davidson, currently one of the high-profile players on Saturday Night Live who is coming off the Sundance debut of the comedy Big Time Adolescence, wrote...

We spoke with executive producer and director Judd Apatow about his career and Crashing Season 3.
In his critically acclaimed 2018 Netflix special, “The Return,” Judd Apatow fondly recalled his stand-up comedy roots. He worked as a teenager in East Side Comedy Club in Long Island where he saw the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Rosie O’Donnell, Jim Carrey and Eddie Murphy perform. The Huntington, Long Island club, which shuttered in 1995, became a home away from home for Apatow during a time when his parents were going through marital trouble. He joked in the special that he returned to stand-up comedy to “lower his salary and self-esteem,” but a throughline of Apatow’s career has been a fascination with the plight of the stand-up comic, from his film Funny People, to his work with Pete Holmes on Crashing, and the recent HBO documentary on the late Gary Shandling which he executive produced.

It was date night for first time parents-to-be Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer on Tuesday.
The pregnant I Feel Pretty star, 37, and her chef husband, 39, attended the opening night of her friend (and Trainwreck costar) Colin Quinn’s new off-Broadway show, Red State Blue State.
Posing on the red carpet at The Minetta Lane Theatre in New York City, Schumer and Fischer were all smiles — her baby bump popping in a green wrap dress with black stockings.
“We couldn’t have laughed harder and I couldn’t have worn a worse bra,” Schumer joked on Instagram.

Nikki Bella is kicking off the new year with a new romance! Following her split from John Cena, the 35-year-old WWE wrestler has reportedly moved on with her former Dancing With the Stars partner Artem Chigvintsev. According to Us Weekly, the couple have been seeing each other "for a while." While Nikki and Artem still have yet to publicly confirm the status of their relationship, the two were recently spotted together in La over Christmas weekend.
Nikki and the 36-year-old ballroom dancer competed on the 25th season of DWTS in 2017, and during that time, Nikki was still engaged to John. In fact, the 41-year-old Trainwreck actor even thought Artem would choreograph his first dance with Nikki at his wedding. "As far as dancing, I think he's probably gonna teach me my first dance," John previously told E! News. "So hopefully I'll be able to take those tips from him there.

There’s a surprising amount at stake in this latest addition to the Transformers series, a film franchise defined by sub-standard storytelling rewarded with staggering box office receipts. It stands as the first film not directed by Michael Bay, having left the franchise with Transformers: The Last Knight. It serves as the live-action debut of Travis Knight, late of the promising Kubo and The Two Strings. More than anything though it represents Paramount’s willingness to try a new approach with a lucrative franchise. Perhaps to narrowly dodge the risk of fatigue among audiences and add critical acclaim to its commercial success.
Did they succeed? Yes, albeit incrementally. Far from the radical reboot of the franchise that critics might be hoping for Bumblebee is more of a minor needle shift. Toning down the franchise’s worst tendencies and allow a more genuine, heartfelt tone. It’s still executed with clumsy writing,...

Amy Schumer was detained on Thursday while taking part in a protest against Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court, reports said. The Trainwreck actress and comedienne had joined scores of demonstrators at the #CancelKavanagh event at Capitol Hill, which took place a day before the Senate will start voting on whether or not to confirm Republican President Donald Trump's pick. The protest also came hours after the FBI sent the Senate Judiciary Committee a report following its week-long investigation into accusations of sexual misconduct against the judge, which he has denied. Democrats have slammed the probe as not being comprehensive enough. CNN aired...

Pain & GainStanding at a towering 6'5" and dwarfing the proverbial brick shithouse, Dwayne Johnson seems to be the man to call in a crisis. If you need someone to save you from a cataclysmic earthquake, giant monsters, or a cursed board game, he’s the leading man of choice. The majority of his films are big-budget comedies or even bigger-budget action blockbusters; his central and ongoing role in The Fast and Furious franchise has made him as ubiquitous as he is wealthy. And if there’s any hint that audiences are still as in thrall to larger-than-life movie stars as they were a century ago, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s box-office figures seem to confirm that this is the case. What Johnson’s film work has in audience appeal it does tend to lose in subtlety; you might uncharitably call his persona slightly cartoonish. His masculinity is traditional—all chiseled...

Amy Schumer Opens Up About Her Abusive Ex & Surviving Sexual Assault: 'I Was Afraid for My Life'
Amy Schumer is happily married and basking in the release of her latest film I Feel Pretty, but the actress has revealed she had to overcome a lot to get to this happy point.
The comedian, 36, told Oprah Winfrey that the abuse she suffered during a past left her “convinced” that she “wasn’t lovable.”
“I got hurt by accident a lot. He didn’t realize how hard he’d grabbed me or shook me or pushed me, and I would fall and hit something then I’d be hurt,” Schumer explained to the host as part of Own’s SuperSoul Conversations.

Amy Schumer’s very R-rated film breakthrough Trainwreck was a hit with critics and audiences looking for the kind of edgy material that made the self-confident and raunchily funny comic a success before Hollywood came calling. Her star vehicle with Goldie Hawn last year, Snatched, was not well received but carried the same R rating one would associate with the Emmy-winning star of Inside Amy Schumer.
But with her latest outing, I Feel Pretty, the humor is defanged and the raunch virtually non-existent in order to get a PG-13 — and a pretty tame PG-13 at that. With this comedy, Schumer attempts to take her admirable positive self-esteem and status as a role model for full-bodied sexiness and flip it on its head. What we are left with, as I say in my video review above, is mostly a one-joke premise spread out to feature length by directors and screenwriters Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein.

Hanging with Amy Schumer – a genuine comedy rock star – is always fun, especially when she's the lead writer on the movies and TV shows she appears in (hello, Trainwreck and Inside Amy Schumer). I Feel Pretty is not written by Schumer, though she reportedly had input – and the disconnect shows. The script is the handiwork of Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein (How to Be Single, Never Been Kissed), who are also making a wobbly directorial debut that results in erratic pacing and a litany of mixed messages. For our latest installment in the Spotlight on the Stars series, I wanted to look at one of the top comedy actresses in the business right now. Of course, I’m talking about Amy Schumer, who took Hollywood by storm a few years ago. An A-list comedic actress, Schumer still has a whole career in front of her, despite the high status already achieved. With a new comedy hitting this week in I Feel Pretty, what a perfect time to talk Schumer some more. We’ll get back to the film itself later in the week, but for now…the focus is all on her! The latest stand up comic to transition to acting, Schumer has also been a high profile figure in terms of the crusade for gun control. Between her comedy background, the talents she’s displayed on the big screen, and the passion for social justice displayed over the past few years,...

Essentially a girls’ version of Porky’s meets American Pie, Universal’s latest entry in the raunchy-comedy sweepstakes is an R-rated answer to all those endless horny-teenage-boy movies where the whole goal is to see who can lose their virginity first. If you're a fan of comedian Amy Schumer (Trainwreck), then I've got a trailer here for her new film that you might enjoy. The comedy is called I Feel Pretty and it follows an average woman dealing with low self-esteem and insecurity problems. As the story progresses, that suddenly all changes for her. After an accident in a gym, she starts looking at herself in a new extremely confident light. She's oozing with so much confidence that she believes she is an amazingly beautiful woman who can do anything, and she's loving it.
This is actually a fun concept and it looks like the filmmaking team did a solid job pulling it off. The movie actually looks like it will be pretty funny. Here's the synopsis:
Renee Bennett (Amy Schumer) knows what it feels like to be average looking in New York city – a city of the genetically and financially blessed.
