In a recent editorial, we highlighted “lifestyle” festivals as one type of event that is thriving in this challenging turning point for the music industry. If you consider that the industry itself is a lifestyle in its own right, the announcement of the new Elsewhere Festival and Conference makes perfect sense. Taking place in Wichita, Kansas on June 21st and 22nd, Elsewhere is designed to bolster opportunities for artists and music professionals in the community.
But that doesn’t mean it’s taking a strictly local approach to its lineup: Headliners include Killer Mike, Steve Aoki, Vince Staples, and Lane 8. Also on the bill are Badbadnotgood, TOKiMONSTA, Snow Tha Product, Le Youth, Blu DeTiger, Sunflower Bean, Pup, Sudan Archives, A Place to Bury Strangers, Oh He Dead, Thick, and more. As for Wichita-based talent, there’s Breeding Brainbow, Flake, Glass Age, Goaty the Kid, Paris Jane, Sir Charles, Apathy Unit.

Miami’s Ultra Music Festival was forced to cut its opening day festivities short Friday as severe weather swept into the area.
Even before the festival opened Friday, organizers warned attendees that they were anticipating rain in the forecast, and recommended that they bring ponchos and raincoats. By nightfall, however, the rain arrived with both strong winds and lightning, forcing organizers to “temporarily” shut down the festival at Miami’s Bayfront Park.

Wheelhouse, the media and marketing company founded by Montgomery (Pawn Stars, King of Collectibles), and Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six tech and venture capital firm, launched the platform Tuesday in beta. The site will serve as a social media platform that will focus first on sports cards and memorabilia as well as trading card games (like Pokemon and Magic the Gathering, for example) before expanding to other facets of the collectibles industry. The site will also feature real-time discussion and connectivity with experts in the collecting space as well as original content, creating a one-stop shop for collectors, investors and more.

T-Pain says he plans to continue to write country music songs as a ghostwriter.
The singer-songwriter-producer recently made headlines when he revealed that he stopped taking credit for the country songs he’s worked on because of the “racism” he dealt with in the genre.
“I wrote a lot of country songs, and the country songs that I get credit on — I wouldn’t say backlash or anything like that — but [there] was a lot of criticism of, ‘Why did they let a Black person be a part of this?’ or things like that. It was just a lot of that stuff. So I kind of just backed off from putting my name on things and just collect the money,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I don’t need to be known for any of that. That’s fine.”
“I’m a ghostwriter [and] it’s just easier,” he continues. “Why not?...

Ending the year in signs is the hilarious, adventurous, sharp-tongued era of Sagittarius.
There’s truly nothing like them. They are quirky, mysterious and full of life. While they naturally grab the attention in the room, they feel most comfortable when they’re in their lonesome.
Sagittarius is the jack-of-trades sign; the sign that takes up space in every all industries — whether they be an actor, comedian or a bus driver — their versatility allows them to do it all. And that flexibility helps fuel their “I’ll try anything once” mindset. To them, what is life if you’re not living it to your fullest? The only thing you have to beware of is their slick mouth. Comedian Bert Kreischer got more than he bargained for as host of Netflix’s first-ever live sports event, the Netflix Cup, when a female protester ran onto the scene at the Wynn Golf Course in Las Vegas and he instinctively sprang into action, tackling her on camera.
In an exclusive interview with Deadline, Kreischer explains that the events of Tuesday afternoon transpired so quickly, he barely recalled what happened in the aftermath. “When we got done, someone at Netflix came up to me and they’re like, ‘Hey, you’re going viral’ and I was like, ‘For what?’ And they’re like, ‘The protestor,'” Kreischer says. “I literally, honestly didn’t even think about it. Last year, Tommy Hilfiger returned to New York Fashion Week in Brooklyn after a three-year hiatus — and hasn’t taken the foot off the gas since. This year, head honcho Tommy Jacob Hilfiger and Sza hosted a brunch to celebrate the brand’s Fall 2023 campaign, which stars the Grammy-winner, her mother Audrey Rowe, her father Abdul Mubarak-Rowe, her niece Savannah Rowe, and other friends.
The brand’s new campaign emphasizes family and familial bonds, something Hilfiger tells Rolling Stone he didn’t want to fake or force this time around.

Some of music’s most popular and successful acts, including Post Malone, Steve Aoki, and Chris Brown, received millions of dollars from the government grant program designed to help venues and arts programs during Covid-19, Insider reports.

Two Friends Edm music duo Eli Sones and Matthew Halper recently revealed that Fyre Festival promoter, Billy McFarland contacted them about performing at a future Fyre Festival.
McFarland’s 2018 Fyre Festival infamously became known as the dumpster fire of music events when McFarland promised hundreds of concert-goers the luxury music festival of a lifetime – and it turned out to be a total con. McFarland ultimately pleaded guilty to defrauding investors, was fined $39 million, and served four years in prison.
Since his release, he’s promised to do Fyre Festival the right way. However, finding strong acts may be pretty tough.
Two Friends wouldn’t consider doing Fyre Festival
McFarland hinted in the press that Fyre Festival 2.0 could be in the works and Two Friends confirmed that the disgraced promoter contacted them.
“Funny enough, I would say probably not,” Sones told Showbiz Cheat Sheet about the possibility of playing Fyre. “But he actually did.

The name DJ Steve Aoki has become synonymous with house and Edm and his popularity exploded beyond being able to accommodate fans in small clubs – something he truly misses.
“When you play in these smaller shows, you really have a more intimate experience with your fans and the people that come see you. And I try to do that. Even at the bigger shows,” Aoki shared with Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
“I look at the fans in the front row and the people that are really engaged with the set, instead of glazing over a lot of people. I think it all boils down to the people that really care,” he said. “And the smaller shows, you really get to zone in on that. So the intimate shows are really important. San Francisco, June 12 (Ians) A hacking group called ‘Pink Drainer’ has been impersonating journalists in phishing attacks in order to compromise Discord and Twitter accounts and steal cryptocurrency.
According to anti-scam platform ScamSniffer analysts, Pink Drainer was able to compromise the accounts of 1,932 victims and steal about $3 million in digital assets on the Mainnet, Arbitrum, Bnb, Polygon, Optimism, and other blockchains.
The threat actor was captured by ScamSniffer’s on-chain monitoring bots after stealing $3,27,000 in NFTs from a single person, reports BleepingComputer.
Recent targets are believed to include OpenAI Cto Mira Murati, American DJ Steve Aoki, and Starknet, among others.

The World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, where Pawn Stars is set, is a lawless land where no question is deemed too ridiculous — like a woman coming in and asking for $2,000 in exchange for a Funko Pop and some trading cards signed by Steve Aoki. The collector’s item itself sells for less than $20 online, while the cards go for around $50. But his signature written across the front of the packaging in gold sharpie boosted the value by $1,880, at least in her eyes.

LimeWire has taken another step toward its impending relaunch. The platform that operated as a peer-to-peer file-sharing service in the 2000s has raised $17.5 million through the public sale of its Lmwr crypto token.
Though it became infamous as a haven for torrenting, LimeWire now has its sights set on a different business model. Working alongside artists, the relaunched version of the platform will use NFTs to facilitate exclusive music experiences. The key to that ecosystem is the Lmwr token, which serves as a form of currency on LimeWire and provides holders with several perks, including community voting rights and early access to merch.
“LimeWire is a platform for content creators, artists, and brands to create membership-based communities,” reads a brief description on the Lmwr homepage. “Creators can build recurring revenue streams by offering fans exclusive access to their community and journey as an artist. O’Neal first teased the song on Feb. 7 on his Twitter, Instagram and TikTok in an animation video that celebrated LeBron James passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
The 51-year-old entertainer had success in the ‘90s with music, including the platinum-selling album Shaq Diesel, released in 1993. It featured the gold-selling singles “What’s Up Doc? “Michael will be sorely missed by all who knew him,” Nksfb partner Bernie Gudvi wrote in a statement to THR. “Everyone’s consensus is that he was one of the Good Guys! That is a hard reputation to come by in our industry.”
Oppenheim joined longtime partner Gudvi at what would become Gso in 1993. In March 2018, their firm Gudvi Oppenheim merged into industry powerhouse Nigro Karlin Segal Feldstein & Bolno, the same month it was acquired by Focus Financial Partners.
