The Other Black Girl will not return.
Hulu has canceled the comedy series based on the book of the same name by Zakiya Dalila Harris after a single season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
First put in development in April 2020 before Tara Duncan signed on to serve as president of Disney’s Bipoc-focused studio Onyx Collective, the 10-episode satirical comedy about the publishing world dropped its full season in September to impressive reviews. The series currently has an 86 percent rating among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, though audiences seem to have rejected The Other Black Girl with that score sitting at a lackluster 50 percent among viewers.
Danielle Henderson (Sorry for Your Loss) originally was set to serve as showrunner but was ultimately replaced by Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey. Exec producers on the series included Onyx’s Duncan, Rashida Jones, Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, Adam Fishbach and author Harris.

When a good meme meets a good man, magic can happen. Of course, the timing has to be right, too—and with Feminist Ryan Gosling and the rise of the "Hey Girl" meme, it was perfection. Better yet, the real Ryan Gosling didn't shun his Internet persona, and through his films, fatherhood and a few choice quotes, the Oscar-nominated La La Land star actually became the man of our memes. The original "Hey Girl" tumblr launched in 2008, and in 2011, Danielle Henderson launched the famed Feminist Ryan Gosling tumblr. As Dr. Shelley Cobb, an Associate Professor of Film at University of Southampton, points out, the Frg phenomenon coincided pretty perfectly with the release of Drive, which...

Several Simon & Schuster authors are revolting after their publisher signed a $250,000 book deal with Milo Yiannopoulos — an editor with Breitbart News and vocal leader within the “alt-right,” a white nationalist movement. (And the same man who bathed in pigs’ blood at a “pro-Trump art show“.)
Danielle Henderson, a writer for HBO, has a memoir scheduled for publication by Simon & Schuster next year and took to her private Twitter account to voice her outrage. According to The UK Times she tweeted, “I’m looking at my @simonschuster contract, and unfortunately there’s no clause for ‘what if we decide to publish a white nationalist.

From late October through mid-November, Vulture is holding a High-School-tv Showdown to determine the greatest teen show of the past 30 years. Each day, a different writer will be tasked with determining the winner of a round of the bracket, until New York Magazine TV critic Matt Zoller Seitz judges the finals on November 13. Today's battle: Danielle Henderson judges The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air versus Gilmore Girls. After you read, be sure to visit Vulture's Facebook page to vote on which show should advance. What we have here are two very different shows — one a laugh-tracked comedy about the displacement that occurs when an uprooted Philadelphia teen reluctantly moves in with his affluent relatives in ritzy Bel-Air, the other about a bookish teen and her formerly semi-delinquent mother trying to navigate societal expectations in a strange, weirdo-filled Connecticut hamlet — that intersect in an unexpected place, albeit one that wasn’t always...

I am Luvvie, Scandal overanalyzer, lover of white suits before Olivia showed up, and eater of popcorn only on special occasions (because what takes 5 minutes to consume should not take 45 minutes to dislodge from between your teeth). I will be your Gladiator in recaps henceforth. Let’s begin.Fitz wants to know what happened to Olivia and wants every acronym alerted (the CIA, FBI, DEA, Opp, Tgif …). Some shifty Secret Service men show up instead and tell him he better not call anyone because the walls (and White House staff) talk, and the last thing he’d want is his beloved Liv hurt. Vulture's TV critic, Matt Zoller Seitz, and our Louie recapper, Danielle Henderson, had an Im conversation this morning about the show's fourth season. Matt: I don't know how I feel about this season of Louie. That's often the case with this show. It often leaves me unsure of how to feel, not just about what happened, but about how it happened. Structurally, it's an incredibly ambitious season, and I think it holds together as a kind of grand mosaic. You've got "Elevator" parts one through six; a two-parter about Louie's childhood experience with his mother and his pot-smoking interlude; and the three-part Pamela, which wrapped up the season Monday night, and which provided season four of Louie with an argumentative flash-point: the near-rape episode, which we've both written about extensively: you in your recap, me in a piece about how the show uses episode breaks and one-week gaps between shows...

Hello, everyone. I am Brian Moylan, Vice-President of the Real Housewives Institute, filling in for Danielle Henderson. Some of you might know my Real Housewife recaps from Gawker and some other sites, and I’m very excited to be filling some mighty big shoes this week. And what a week it was! This season has been a collection of half-baked offerings and silly squabbles about whether or not Lisa tousled her hair at Joyce in a flippant manner. It’s been, at times, downright boring. But last night – whoa, Nelly. Between the Sisters Richards’ fame-mongering pathology, all the talk of witchcraft, and Carlton’s Eyes Wide Shut Pool Party brought to you by Fist Pump Tequila, Fat Burger, and Snooki Polizzi Brand Thong Undergarments, this was the most memorable night we’ve had since, well, at least since Andy Cohen decided to shave that pathetic dappled patch of fur he called a beard.

Good morning. I’m filling in this week for Danielle Henderson (you can find me over in Justified-Recap Town every Wednesday). So just to sum up the top-sheet notes from this episode: Two characters turned out to be killers who we didn't think were killers; one character who we thought was a killer isn't (um, yet); one character we thought had it in him to be a killer turned back at the last possible second; and one character we know for sure is a killer turned down the chance to kill so he could instead offer a teaching moment. It was a big week, life-or-death-wise.My thought was that the whole episode would build up to the revelation of who put the hit out on President Fitz, but boy, was there no time to linger on That revelation when there were three to four huge ones to come. We got the I.
