Meet Cute is a romantic comedy starring Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson. It is directed by Alexandre Lehmann, and the screenplay is written by Noga Pnueli.
Love in a time travel merry-go-round.
Premise
A woman has found a way to travel to the past and makes use of it to perfect her date with her potential soulmate.
Meet Cute (2022) Movie Review
Has something shifted in Hollywood, bringing about new cinematic styles? That is precisely the question I ask myself having watched ‘Meet Cute’. True to its title, it is a sweet (and I say it without condescension) story that handles its characters with great care and shows the most tender, almost adorable sides of people, and their imperfections. I couldn’t help but think of the recent hit movie ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once‘, which also applies that fantastical element to tell a contemporary human story.

Sheila, a young woman grappling with suicidal thoughts, discovers that a tanning bed in a nail salon is a time machine. Travelling back 24 hours, she relives the best date night of her life over and over, only to decide that her boyfriend, Gary, needs some fixing. Unaware that meddling with the past could ruin the future, Sheila goes even further back in time to turn him into the perfect man — even though he was already pretty perfect.
The first act of Alex Lehmann‘s Meet Cute is incredibly deceiving because it nearly convinces you that the rest of the film that will follow is going to be good. Lehmann seemingly has the ability to make a solid first act nailed down, but manages to lose sight of any original ideas...

Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson were looking stylish for the New York premiere of their new film Meet Cute which is coming to Peacock. The satirical rom-com follows Cuoco as a single New Yorker Shelia who discovers a time machine and uses it to continuously retry moments of a date the night before with a guy named Gary (Davidson).
Davidson and Cuoco showed more chemistry even on the red carpet by talking and laughing before the premiere. Davidson wore a comfy-looking hoodie with green sweatpants, while Cuoco stunned in a dazzling silver and gold sequined dress cut like a blazer.
Cuoco also recently appeared in the action comedy film The Man From Toronto and picked up her second Emmy nomination for her lead performance in The Flight Attendant. Davidson just departed Saturday Night Live this Spring and has also appeared in Bodies Bodies Bodies and as the title character in the critically-panned 2022 animation Marmaduke.

In Meet Cute, Peacock’s bumpy romantic comedy, girl meets boy in a nondescript bar. After some awkwardly endearing pleasantries and a round of Old-Fashioneds, they take their conversation to the underlit streets of New York City. Sparks fly. The young adults fall into a lustful stupor. They part ways, promising to see each other soon. The next day, girl meets boy at the same bar. They toss the pleasantries but still indulge in a round of drinks. They stumble into the streets. The day after that, girl meets boy again, and they repeat their first date, in perpetuity.
This nightmarish scenario is a dream for Sheila (an excellently unnerving Kaley Cuoco), a neurotic depressive searching for purpose and a second chance. She finds it during an uncharacteristic trip to the nail salon, where her sardonic nail tech, June (Deborah S. Craig), introduces her to a time machine.

When we first see our duo at a cozy local New York City bar, Sheila (Kaley Cuoco) has had her eye on Gary (Pete Davidson) for quite some time. She’s staring at him with a freneticism and urgency that bartender Phil (Kevin Corrigan) mistakes for lust (who can blame him?). When Sheila, all too-big smile and bright dress, finally sidles up to the doe-eyed loner, it seems we might be in for — what’s that — a meet cute. But this isn’t a meet; it’s all happened before. Sheila is playing a role. So is Gary. And so is perhaps every overeager gal and maybe-shy guy who has ever populated a rom-com.
Such is the big idea at the heart of Alex Lehmann’s “Meet Cute,” and that’s not even counting the film’s ambitious but messy time-travel conceit conceived by screenwriter Noga Pnueli. If Sheila seems desperate,...

Kaley Cuoco has perfected the meet-cute through endless starts to a budding romance with Pete Davidson.
Peacock original film “Meet Cute” is a time-traveling romantic comedy starring “The Flight Attendant” Emmy nominee Cuoco as Sheila, a perfectionist who is looking for her ideal happily ever after with Gary (Davidson). The modern twist on “Groundhog Day” takes a dark turn as Sheila reveals in the trailer she has to kill her other self to not exist in the same timeline, and that she hopes to take away Gary’s painful trauma to make him the perfect partner. “Meet Cute” premieres September 21 on Peacock.
The official synopsis reads: “When Sheila and Gary meet, it’s love at first sight — until we realize their magical date wasn’t fate at all. Sheila’s got a time machine, and they’ve been falling in love over and over again. But when the perfect night is never quite enough,...

Listen, it's perfectly understandable to want to change Pete Davidson. No matter what you do, he'd still look like a chihuahua that was half transformed into a human, but he could be the perfect partner for you with a few tweaks. So if you had the chance to go back in time to make those adjustments, would you? At that point, would he even be Pete Davidson anymore?
That's the conundrum that Kaley Cuoco has to navigate in the new movie "Meet Cute." The Peacock original movie follows the "Harley Quinn" star as Sheila, a woman on a mission to find the perfect New York man. That's when she meets Davidson's Gary. After an ideal evening together, they seem like they're on track to their happily ever after -- and there's a reason for that. What constitutes the perfect partner? A time machine offers its user the chance to make a seemingly ideal companion in “Meet Cute.” The new film builds on common perceptions of rom-coms, giving the genre a distinctive sci-fi twist. Pete Davidson and Kaley Cuoco star as a couple relying on this surprising secret to dating success. Both leads have proven themselves with well-reviewed performances — Davidson in “The King of Staten Island” and Cuoco in “The Flight Attendant.” That recognition also pays off as they get executive producer credits on ‘Cute.’

“Meet Cute,” the romantic comedy starring Pete Davidson and Kaley Cuoco, has landed at Peacock, where it will premiere Sept. 21.
The “SNL” alum and “The Flight Attendant” star play Gary and Sheila, who fall in love at first sight and spend a perfect evening together. If their meet-cute sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is: it turns out Sheila has a time machine, and she’s been using it to relive the night over and over again. When their first date leaves them wanting more, Sheila travels back into Gary’s past to try to change him into the perfect man.
Alex Lehmann (“Paddleton”) directed from a script by Noga Pnueli (“Deborah”), who also executive produces alongside Davidson and Cuoco.
